Very nice park with lots of elbow room. We were in #24 which is on a corner. The nearest RV to us was at least 50 to 75 feet away. The park is clean and they make everyone adhere to the rules (no parking on grass, no junk around, etc) which makes for a pleasing appearance. There was no wifi out where we were, electric was stable, water pressure was fine, and Verizon signal was 4G with 1 and 2 bars (not real strong). There are paved roads and concrete pads with gravel patios. Each patio has a fire pit and picnic table. The commissary and exchange were very nice. Here's our 2 complaints: First are the gates. The gates at the entrance and exit of the park are a pain. If you're on a military base where you are carded before entry, why do you need the gates? Second is Wifi/Hotspot. I called Verizon because my hotspot was worse than dial-up slow and normally it has very good speed. I was told that because of the area (between DC and Baltimore) the tower congestion is such that at certain times of the day it slows down to a crawl. That being the case, the park should have wifi repeaters. All in all we really enjoyed our stay at Camp Meade. - jomark
Nov 2015 - $28.00
We've been here a month with a couple more weeks to go. This is a very nice park. Spacious lots, very nice laundry and shower building with a couple break room/library/game areas. Lots of trees but probably ? to ½ of sites are possible for satellite reception. Overall very quiet, except for the base special of reveille at 0630 over the base loudspeakers. Earplugs are useless to counteract, but we got used to it. Better than train whistles or traffic noise. They don't do it on the weekends.
They don't have wifi or cable, though I understand they're working on that right now.
Only downside is there's been a bit of musical spots. Their reservation software doesn't optimize the spots to minimize moves, so we moved twice in a week, but spent almost a month in the current spot. Seemed like it could be minimized since it was mostly people already there moving around. When we extended, the person we dealt with in the office made it so we didn't have to move again, but the experience/interest level of the staff varies.
This is certainly the best value in the DC area. We will be back in the spring for sure.
Rate based on monthly rate. - Seb

Very nice campground. Sites are big with plenty of space between them. I like the fact the grass gets mowed regularly. Good option for the DC area. We would do so again. - rwarner22

Very bad sites down back. Had to pull all the way to right side and up to front edge to even think about getting camper level. Which put our door at awful tree roots. Could barely walk with out tripping. Dirt.
Highway runs along side. Trees between but first day wind blew noise to park.
Stay up front. The office people are very nice, and they are big on Halloween. - TheRealMcCoys

Decent size sites, very good wi-fi, friendly staff, lots of activities, no cable but was able to receive 38 OTA channels. $5.00 for each extra vehicle. Nature trail needs maintenance. The capitolkoa.com web site has issues. Use koa.com to reverve at this campground. No indoor meeting facilities. - User3064
Sep 2017 - $86.00
Friends that live nearby told us about this awesome park. Outstanding staff and the park is well maintained. It is a medium size KOA and with the holiday it was busy. The kids enjoyed the activities and liked the giant inflatable. Had an outdoor movie and played RV. Staff in the office told us about a special coming up in a few weeks. Stay one night get one free. A real value so we booked for that. It rained on and off so we didn't get to swim. Really enjoyed our stay because we were there with friends. It is a Great location in the woods but come out of the campground and your in close to grocery store and shopping centers. Downside was they had a flood. Asked in the office someone had flushed a depends pad down the toilet. Yuck. The store had water flowing in it from that. Double yuck. One thing missing was no cable tv. But they did have 20 channels local tv. A plus was WIFI was excellent for a KOA. - Daphney Albright

Sep 2017 - $10.00
We spent 5 nights here, going to Washington DC every day for tourist reasons. This is an incredible bargain as it is about 10 miles away from DC, and only about 2 miles to the Greenbelt Metro station. The first night we were there we were by ourselves at the end of the campground, the grass was about a foot high, and my wife said it felt creepy. The next day they mowed the grass and over the time we were there, more people came in to camp. There are no hookups, but we were fine in our self contained motor home. It rained a lot while we were there, when we left the dump station was flooded so we couldn't dump. We didn't look at the restrooms. - Russell G
May 2017 - $20.00
Thick trees in serious need of trimming. Interior roads very tight, sites paved but many unlevel, and dry camping only. 1 shower stall for men in all of D loop, and that needed cleaning. Never saw the camphost, maintenance crew drove around but never saw them get out and do anything. Rain created muddy mess, garbage strewn about and not addressed. - rvrrat520
Nov 2016 - $8.00
This is of course a NP campground. It is a little bit of heaven in a very large city. Like most NP campgrounds it is in need of a lot of repairs and updates, but if it were not a NP it probably won't even be here. I'm sure the property values in the area would make such a large section of land out of the range of most RV parks. In fact the only other RV park in the area charges $70 a night and that would have been way over our heads to stay at. There are trees everywhere and except for the faint noise of the busy highways on all sides you would think you were way out in the country. Those busy highways are what you have to take to get here but with patience and careful driving it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. The roads inside the CG are a little rough and in need of repair. The sites could be a little larger and a little more level but we found one that would fit our 40' MH. There were picnic tables at every site but the fire rings were old and falling apart if they were even there at all. You are only 1 1/2 miles from the train station that takes you to downtown DC but we drove our car and after finding a hens teeth parking space we spent a wonderful day walking the DC Mall area. There were very few people the so it was easy to use the one shower in our loop but it would be difficult when it is busy. Most sites are back in but there are a few pull-through. The reservation system is fairly accurate in describing the size and levelness so if it says slightly unlevel you should believe them. Water was available close by and there is a dump station. The small visitors center was staffed by very helpful Park Service and volunteer people who directed us on ways to get around the city. Of course being in the city the cell and internet signal were very good. I would highly recommend this great CG for anyone with a desire to visit the Capital of the US. - rhianna

Agree with previous reviews. The park is a great location to visit Washington DC, Baltimore and Mount Vernon. Employees are well organized and efficient in customer service. Each day, we left by 9:30 AM and returned around 7:30. The park has a third party individual that will take care of your pet or pets needs while touring the area. You work directly with the individual for times and frequencies. Each day a note is written in detail how the pet health break went. We used this service for five days. - Ky Farmer

The registration area is away from the camping area and if arriving from the East is hard to access due to a 11 foot underpass restriction. RV sites use the inner loop which has 30 amp power but no water. Sites are about 30 feet apart. Residential housing is visible behind the campsites but we did not have noise problems. Only one place to take on fresh water or dump waste but we did not have to wait. Overall functional but not scenic. - rudyhehn
Apr 2018 - $26.00
The site was nice and level, but a bit small, with a short driveway. We actually brought 2 vehicles this time, and it was really tight. Fair amount of trees surrounding our site, but since there are still very few leaves, it felt way closer and less private. This campground is very popular, and set up as two loops; an inner loop with electric sites, and a more spread-out outer loop with non-electric, tent-only sites. The inner loop was completely full, and the sites were just too closely spaced for my preferences. There were a few sites with a little extra room and privacy (419 and 420 caught my eye), but for the most part they were packed in pretty tightly. If you're a tent camper and don't need electric, the sites on the outer loop were quite nice and private. Bath house was old, small, and not exceptionally clean, but adequate for our needs. Did not use the showers this time. However, there are only 4 restroom stalls and 2 showers on the ladies side, so I can imagine the lines would be pretty crazy during the summer time. I expected lines this weekend, considering the campground was full, but we lucked out. There is also a dish washing room with a deep double sink, but this was old and dingy as well. I'm really surprised that the bath house hasn't been renovated yet, and that there is only one bath house and a single water spigot to service both loops, considering the size and popularity of the park. Normally in MD State Parks, there is a water pump every few sites. This is the largest state park in MD, and is very spread out, with several distinct areas. Almost every area has a great day use section, with nice pavilions and playgrounds. Overall, while this is a great park for day-tripping with a very convenient location, we just didn't care for the campground. If you don't mind the proximity to other campers and multiple scouting groups, or if you can make use of the more private tent sites, this might be a good option. - Jenventola
May 2017 - $30.00
I almost didn't make reservations because we would be arriving on a Sunday in early May. Glad I did because the park was full. We read all the great reviews about the park entrance and had no problem with the approach to the campground. If you are very organized you can get a senior citizens pass well in advance and save quite a bit. Monday was a different day in the park. Trails empty of people and the park quiet. We stayed here because of the proximity to BWI airport. The drive to pick up our family was easy and uneventful. - travelnurse

Jun 2010 - $27.00
This is not an RV park. Instead, it is a mobile home park that happens to have three long-term RV sites nearby. Sites rent only on a monthly basis at $795/mo, including all utilities except cable and phone. You get a regular street address and USPS mailbox at the street. The sites are very bare bones, with gravel pads that are pretty level, picnic tables at two of the sites but no patios, full-hookups, and grass is mowed religiously by on-site caretaker who lives just two doors down and is a bit nosy. The sites sit right on Bull Neck Creek. This is a blessing and a curse. Great views of the water, fishing, and lots of waterfowl, but the area is prone to flooding, and the sites get boggy fast. We often find ourselves stepping out our door and into a puddle after a big rain. In the event of a tropical storm, hurricane, or unusually high tides you will have to evacuate. The driveway into the sites is not paved so gets rutty and muddy in snow and rain. If you aren't careful, your vehicle and rig can get stuck very easily. Septic tanks sometime back up, but maintained man will pump them for you. Electric, water, and cable supplies reliable. Very quiet park and neighborhood. We've been here nearly a year and have never seen a police car or ambulance in the area. We've also had no neighbors in the other two sites during that time. The mobile home park sits right between two county parks with fishing and boat ramps, so recreation is readily available. Property manager (who is located off site) is very friendly and helpful and will work to accommodate your needs. Pets are allowed ONLY on the RV sites, not in the mobile home park or in the stick-built homes nearby. Large, open field nearby where you can walk your pets. You are responsible for taking your garbage to the curb once a week and supplying your own garbage can. Raccoons and stray cats in the area, so you don't want to sit your trash out unprotected. Sites are about a block away from railroad tracks, and trains do come through in the wee hours. High tension power immediately adjacent to the sites. This said, these are the ONLY RV sites near Baltimore that allow pets, have full hookups, cable access, AND allow long-term residents. Lots of mobile home parks in the area do allow RVers, but most won't allow pets. If you plan to winter over in this park, know that you'll get to shovel the 100 feet or so to the street in the event of a blizzard (we had three this last winter). The county does plow the streets, and there is some car parking about a block up, so you can park your car or truck there in the event of snow. Carpenter ants are a problem here, and they will eat the wood in your RV, so be careful. We haven't yet found a good remedy for them except keeping the tree branches over our rig trimmed back. Mosquitoes are also fierce because of the nearby creek. I'd give the park a higher rating if the sites and driveway were paved, if the drainage were better, and if the monthly rate was a bit lower, but I suppose this is the cost of living right on a tributary of the Chesapeake and only 20 minutes from downtown Baltimore. - Mary Jo

Sep 2013 - $19.00
Since my last visit the campground has become populated with permanent party personnel, making reservations difficult. Effectively half of the sites are occupied by long term occupants. It has become more of a housing area, rather than a FAMCAMP. - hw8200
Apr 2013 - $18.00
I would expect that a campground associated with the US Naval Academy would be more up to date. This campground needs an upgrade to bring to the standard you find at USMA and USAFA. - hw8200
Nov 2012 - $9.00
The campground is not in the Academy section of the Navy base. That makes it hard to find and difficult to get to. One has to drive through a residential area on a curvy road where there is a lack of signs pointing to the campground. That is one issue that makes it not big rig friendly. Another reason is that the interior campground road is gravel and hilly with some sharp turns. Most of the sites are concrete pads, but they are not long enough to provide plenty of space for a longer RV. I noticed just one pull through. Power is only 30 amp. There is no sewer. I did not use the dump station. The bath house is an older, heated, cinderblock building. It was clean, but adequate only to serve its purpose. The Wi-Fi signal is not generated from within the campground and is weak. There is nothing for the kids to do. A primitive area exists for tent use, but sites aren’t marked. Verizon 3G was fine. During another season, I suspect there would be little satellite signal reception because there a lot of trees. Over the air TV channels are plentiful. The campground is half full of permanents; most likely service members who are stationed there. It is a short drive to the full service commissary, Exchange, gas station, and golf course. Check in is at the MWR/gym facility that is several blocks past the campground. There are no convenient places to park an RV while you register. They honor the America the Beautiful card for a 50% discount and that is reflected in my rate. This is just an OK campground that is better suited for shorter rigs and those who want an inexpensive place to stage from while being a tourist. It won’t be on my return list. - RLM

We stayed here with our Stockade group. There are only two large open field sites available. We stayed at site 1 which is closest to the bathrooms. There is a water spigot near the restrooms but there are no shower facilities. Each site has a fire ring, picnic tables, and a nice new BBQ and a large wooden cooking type area built next to it. It even has hooks for your lantern. The rangers were nice and came out to check on us a few times and the park is great. The disk golf course and hiking trails were a big hit. We would stay here again. - Cfamily

We stayed here for about 10 days as repairs were being made on our trailer. Two days we stayed in a cabin as the repairs couldn't be done on site. I have to say the staff went out of their way to help us out and worked with us giving us reduced rate on the cabin as well. Some of the best customer service we've ever had. That being said the park itself is in transition and we could tell they've been working hard. The park is mostly permanent to semi-permanent and unlike other reviewers we didn't see any separation. The space next to us was full of trash but we were told that the guy had issues and we didn't understand his situation. There were quite a few like that but others were neat and tidy. The location is good and very convenient to shopping, gas, etc. About 20 minutes to Metro station. - Catsinatrailer
Sep 2017 - $63.00
This was our only option, at the time, and while it was tolerable this is no resort. The lots were tight. I mean REALLY tight. They did give us a fire ring, but it honestly would have been dangerous, because closeness of the trailers. The pool area looked great, but it closed for the season the day after we arrived, so we didn't get to enjoy it. If you are just here to sleep, it will do. But this place no great shakes. - Farmlife4014
Apr 2017 - $34.00
We stayed 5 weeks, rate is based on the monthly rate plus electric. Awesome changes in progress! Campground is being completely renovated, bath house upgraded, sites leveled, trees cleared, roads graded, new washer/dryers, everything. Roads & sites are gravel, a few too many trees for our rooftop satellite to lock on but we positioned our carry out to get a signal. All utilities, electric, wifi, sewer, and cable worked well, water pressure dropped a bit when the pool was filled, otherwise worked well. Employees are awesome, went out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. Our site was a hair tight going in, but no issues leaving. We tow with a Freightliner, there was room to park it on the site. When the weather warmed, there was a huge blow up water slide and bounce house for the kids. Some neighborhood noise, but not that bad. We plan to stay here again. - Born2RV

Sep 2017 - $20.00
According to the rating I gave this RV park, you can see I wasn't too impressed. Let me first say that Andrews AFB is the President's Flagship Base as Air Force 1 is housed here and all the officers and personnel that keep everything in Presidential order. This FamCamp is an embarrassment to the base - in my opinion. It is old and apparently suppose to be upgraded but it is obvious that no work has been done to make improvements even though areas are roped off and those areas are totally unkempt with tall grass and neglected. The area that is being used is mowed where the RV's park, but the center section is growing wild. It is overgrown as close as 4' from the back of the RV and full of no-see-ums and jiggers. There is only 30 amp available. We have a 50 amp unit and have used 30 amp many times without problems. We simply use one a/c. In this park, 30 amp may as well have been plugging our RV into a household plug. If I ran an a/c the only other items that could be on were the LED lights. To take a shower we had to turn off the air (it was 94 while we were here), turn on the water heater and let the water get hot, take the shower then turn off the water heater and turn on the air. One thing at a time. Couldn't use the microwave or convection oven at all. And this after we had them put a new 30 amp breaker on the pole. When we first got here, the breaker kept tripping no matter what we did. The person working in the office claims I told her I had a 36' unit (I did not - that would not be to my benefit to say such a thing. We are 39') and that was the only reason she made the reservation for us. What difference 3 feet makes to the power pole is beyond me. She was very rude and argumentative. It is mostly her tone and attitude. We did not hit it off well at all. We will not be back. Although Andrews is a great place for visiting DC, I would not recommend this RV park. - jomark

we were only staying for 2 weeks but Denise squared us away and we were able to stay for 15 days! The staff was great Denise was very helpful!!! We had no issues plus plenty of space to walk our dogs! Grandsons came to visit our last week and had a blast!!! They are renovating some sites! We will definitely be back!!! - Griffin2
May 2017 - $20.00
Half of the park was closed for reconstruction, the other half was neglected. Site had concrete pad which was the most positive aspect of the park. One staff member was rude and seemed to think answering questions was not in job duties. Roads gravel, muddy and potholed, restrooms were clean but really outdated, staff seemed to think it was okay to leave mops and brooms anywhere they stopped using them.
Grass around office area trimmed and mowed, rest of areas and campsites grass was 12-18 inches tall. Grass around dog area fencing mowed, inside not mowed. Piles of limbs and leaves everywhere.
Half of park being rebuilt/upgraded to 50 amp, but placement of utilities made no sense. While a very good location for visiting Washington DC, a disappointing park. One would think that the support base for the Presidential fleet of aircraft would be a showplace in all its facilities.
Base Exchange being remodeled but open for business, commissary large. Golf course one of the best I've ever seen on a military base. - Retired Medic
