This is a little known gem in the Maryland State Park system. Very quiet and shady sites. Extremely clean. Easy access to dump station on way out of campground. All sites had a fire ring, picnic table, and large "patio" area adjacent to the site. Most sites are wide without trees obstructing back-in access, though there is PLENTY of shade. Multiple overflow parking areas available if needed, but we were able to fit camper, meg-cab dually and a 2nd vehicle within our site. Reservation website lists 30' max, but we found 8 sites we could easily fit our 43' triple axle triple slide 13'6" tall 5th wheel on. We were also able to maneuver on interior roads without issue. Short walk to the marina, historical museum, fantastic playground and new nature center. Wonderful shaded walking/hiking paths. Easy access to DC for those wanting to see the sights in the Capital. We camped at Smallwood State Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

This is a really nice park with plenty to do and see. Maybe a little too "woodsy". Sites are a little small but there is plenty of space between them. For a state park, I would have expected better trails. With the river so close, fishing and boating is very popular here. There is even a museum in the park. We camped at Smallwood State Park in a Motorhome.Undo
