14 Parks near Ocean City, Maryland
Aug 2015 - $98.00
Nice park, mostly seasonals, so it was quiet. Two pools, store, snack bar, laundry. A lost of the sites you are near water, either a cove or the bay.
Not a lot of shade, but our site was level. Had a concrete pad, but we put the trailer on the gravel alongside and put out carpet/table on the pad. Saw a LOT of drainage issues when I had looked at their Facebook page and wanted a dry spot. WiFi was at the game room area only, but we were able to use (at times) Xfinity hotspots when the signal was good
Nice spot to be at close to Ocean City, MD, and beaches. - Pondguy
Jun 2014 - $65.00
Most sites are seasonal RVs and park models. Our site was next to impossible to back into in a 38' trailer. Site was a sand base with some grass. Showers were very small and without handles to adjust temperature and flow and didn't drain. For Wi-Fi you had to go to pool area, not available at site. Cable is available but you have to give them a deposit and hookup a separate box. Not worth the price! - Mahalo
Jul 2013 - $80.00
Great location to visit area attractions, just minutes to ocean. Mostly permanent sights, most were well maintained. We camped in a lovely spot facing the canal. Nice facilities: pool, office, store and laundry very clean. Our only complaint, the park needs more trees and shade. WiFi only works at front of the park near the activity centre. - acadiandave
Jun 2016 - $140.00
Muddy site, gravel site needs to be replenished & re-leveled. Tree needs to be trimmed away from gravel driveway so it doesn't scratch sides of RV. Excellent dog beach. Dog wash free. Decent swimming pool, splash park, and hot spa. Closest full hookup RV park to Ocean City. Later 3pm checkout instead of 11:30am costs $25. 3 night minimum stay. Beware of dynamic pricing structure. WiFi terrible & unreliable. $120 jet ski 1 hour rental onsite. $200 pontoon 2 hour rental onsite. - univmd
Jul 2015 - $98.00
Used the restrooms (showers) 4 times and they were clean only once. AND the shower water was SCALDING HOT with no ability to lower the temp! I told the office 3 times and after the 3rd time the temp was lowered but still not enough. I talked with others in the shower and they all agreed that the water was way too hot. Also used the gym and the pin (to increase the weight more than 10 lbs) on the universal weight machine was missing. I told the office and checked the gym a few more times and it was still not replaced. This resort has a lot of amenities and really is a great place; they just need to respond to reasonable requests. The stones on the site are WAY too large & have sharp edges. They should be smaller, smooth pebbles. Every staff member we encountered was friendly & helpful. - boomer3
Jun 2015 - $98.00
We had been staying at this camp many times each season since they opened as Castaways several years ago. Since they were bought out by Sun Resorts, the service has progressively gone downhill over the last couple of years. It had been our favorite camping spot as previous ratings would indicate; however, we will not be returning, mainly because of the poor customer service in the management office. We and several of our friends often camp together, and we all have been having the same issue with the management not answering the phone, and not responding to voicemails and/or emails, making mistakes and losing reservations. We did not receive a response to our multiple messages requesting to extend our stay until we reached out to them on their facebook page. It was so frustrating that we canceled all of the remaining reservations we had for this year. We are really sad about this because there had been no better place to stay in the Ocean City area. In addition, the sites are not kept as clean as they once were, with trash left everywhere in empty sites. Our trash sat at the end of our site for two days before someone finally came and picked it up during our last stay. But again, the main reason we won't be returning is the indifference received by the office staff. - rebcon
Jun 2016 - $100.00
Considering what you get for the high price, the value here is pretty good. The fees include daily access the park's water park which is great, especially for smaller children. The water park has a large kids pool with a slide play area in its center. It also includes a large water slide atop a large man made hill for bigger kids and adults and and has a large lazy river which one floats on in single or double tube inflatables. The water current is continuously moving so you can either just float around the large loop or go faster if you kick and swim in the tube. There is also a large swimming pool near the Marina and pavilion area in the main campground. Most sites have full hookups. Water electric sewer and cable access. The WiFi is either OK or terrible depending on how far you camp from a node and how crowded the park is. Another cool feature was the large dog playing area where you can set your dog free from its leash and watch him run and roam and meet new friends. They also have a good bus service to Ocean MD beaches and other attractions for only a buck. The camp store is well stocked and the roads are mostly easy to navigate with some tight spots, but this is not your worry when driving, the place literally packed with golf carts everywhere. This along with the small site sizes were my only issues with the campground, otherwise, it's a great place for the family and we've been going now four years in a row. Paid extra features include a Wild West town with a gun fight. A train robbery on a small tracked train that winds through the woods, a zip line, and a pretty decent rodeo. - DumpStation
Oct 2015 - $60.00
This is a large campground with many "permanent" units. We were there on the Thursday before their Halloween weekend. Seemed as if every third camper had a golf cart, each seeing who could go the fastest. Roads on the interior were quite narrow. The access roads to sites were so narrow that our large motorhome(45 feet) had a difficult time maneuvering into a site. The first site to which we were assigned, which was at least 50 feet deep, was impossible to back into, because trees prohibited entry. Wi-fi was horrible. We will not return. - EdGuru
Jul 2015 - $85.00
We have stayed here several years. Some sites are better than others but overall a wonderful park with great activities especially for kids. - Oma&Opa
Jun 2016 - $44.00
We had a site in the electric loop. Our hookups we in good working order, our site was huge and noticed most others the same. Interior roads and sites were asphalt. Typical beach area camping, place flat with little shade. Campsites are easy walking to the beach. Some of the new bathhouses were not yet finished and found the open bathhouses were not kept clean. Professional and friendly staff, park rangers make routine patrols. Horses make frequent visits. Campground & park great for biking and kayaking. We will return again! - mdcamping
May 2016 - $34.00
Sites are paved asphalt and generally level, surrounded by grassy sand with many prickly pear cactus mixed in. No trees, very open layout. Very windy while we were there, and the open layout did nothing to slow down the winds. Only one loop has electric, and we were not in that loop. A pack of wild horses made a daily visit to the campground. The major downside: ticks. They were everywhere. We had to remove several from our bodies each day, and even found them after we returned home. - HabaneroMike
Jun 2015 - $44.00
Where else could you go and see the wild ponies and have the Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop. We go here every year and we are impressed with the uniqueness and beauty every time. These ponies walk around the campsites and on the beach. There is only the day beach store and cafe with a small gift shop...The bike path is paved and level. They are re-doing all the bath houses as they are old and moldy. The Maryland Park police ride through frequently and there are camp host people assigned to every loop. - Winnebago Wanderers
Nov 2013 - $47.00
Our Good Sam chapter has camped at this park for the last several years, but I feel that this is the last year. The staff is quite aloof and non-responsive. When I asked for some information regarding the use of the club house for our group, the person I spoke to said she would call me back, but never did. I finally got an email response, but only after two requests. They are not flexible to special requests, like opening the club house a little earlier than usual for our group. The rates are quite high considering that we are camping in November. I think they make so much money during the summer that they just don't care, so we will move on to another venue in the future. - Wye River Rat
Aug 2013 - $59.00
This campground is regularly flooded. We had water at the height of the table. Loop A and B shouldn't be available for camping. They know this situation but continue to operate it. Avoid this campground for your safety. WIFI connection is very bad. Had too take a cold shower because they were out of propane. Horrible customer service. - Floodedcamper
Mar 2012 - $25.00
We stayed here for 3 weeks. It was really the only option this time of year. The lots were decent sized with sites shaded by trees. We were there for opening and Easter weekend and it was pretty party-party past quiet hours. During the week we were almost by ourselves and it was very nice. The "lake" was more like a disgusting green-poison-pond, really yucky. Playground was very nice although a little far from the sites. Also a fenced dog playground that looked nice if you have a dog. Laundry was clean and nice. Activities for the kids. - Fulltime2kids
Jun 2016 - $45.00
Campground out in the middle of no where. Large lake in the middle of campground for fishing.Large grass sites. Nice pool and store. Convenient to Ocean City ,MD and beaches. - traveling the use
Oct 2015 - $45.00
Love, love, love this campground. It's quiet and we love the fact that you back your camper up to a man-made lake. All the sites are spacious and the owners and employees are very friendly. Can't wait to go back next year. - Caddy073
Aug 2015 - $55.00
Great looking park quiet because it was after schools started so we had our pick of sites. The only thing wrong with this park is that they had two shower and bath houses with just one shower and toilet. If someone was showering or going to the bathroom you would have to wait. The sbath house was about 10 x 15 and quite nice but only one in each location. I would never stay there if it was prime camping time. They seem to assume that everyone showers in their camper. The A/C did not work in the bath house and they had no intention of fixing it and the outside light to the bath houses were disconnected because as they put it Bugs. The bathroom toilet outside of it was never cleaned so do they clean it? A little pricey for what you get. - snoopy216
Jul 2016 - $15.00
We stayed on the bay side, expecting to be eaten alive by the infamous mosquitos. Actually, it wasn't bad. There were bugs but a liberal application of OFF! seems to hold them at bay.
The site we had was A6, in the generator loop. We only ran our genset for battery charging and coffee and microwave use. Be aware that the NPS does NOT enforce the noisy generator rule (can't be over 60 decibels at 55' from campsite or something to that effect), there was a guy clear on the far side of the campground with one of those cheap construction type generators that ran it ALL DAY LONG, until 10pm. It was very loud and distracting.
The site was more or less level and asphalt paved. It backed up to the tree line which was nice.
"Wild" horses cruise throughout the campground at will. They like to hang out around the bath house for some reason.
We did not use the cold water showers or the pit toilet bathrooms.
All in all we enjoyed our 4 night stay, the beach is wonderful. You can rent kayaks bayside or sign up for a kayak tour.
I would have given this a 10 star rating if the rangers or camp host had enforced the generator noise rule.
Price reflects 50% NPS Senior Pass rate. - baraff
Jun 2016 - $30.00
We had a beautiful site with excess to the bay side for swimming & kayaking. Interior roads and sites that we noticed were asphalt. All sites are dry. Bathhouses very clean but only cold running water for showers. Pit toilets only. Horses & deer make frequent visits. Park rangers make routine patrols. Campground & park great for biking and kayaking. Bayside campsites has more small tree growth which offer some shade. Good signal on our Verizon. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone. - mdcamping
Aug 2015 - $25.00
Very clean park. Bathrooms were clean, but primitive (only pit toilets). Showers were clean but only cold water (which actually feels great, considering you will likely get sunburned at the lovely beach!).
Sites were kept clean, though watch for the horse poo. Wild horses roam free around the park, but are not a nuisance provided you keep your food put away and watch what you cook when they are near.
Some sites are bigger than others, but all should accommodate larger rigs. Roads are all paved.
The park is minutes from Ocean City, Md. The park also has two beaches, which are kept clean and family friendly.
Zero hookups at this park.
Would definitely come back! - grim509
Jun 2013 - $40.00
My husband and I are retired full-time RVers from S. CA traveling the USA in a 24' travel trailer. We reserved our 1-night stay online. No clubs, no discounts. The staff is not that friendly. This is an old-seen-better-days park mainly comprised of permanent houses, cabins, trailers, etc. Half are nice and half are dilapidated. The park is on a large pretty bay. We stayed here because we needed to be close to the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. We wouldn't stay here again. - daviescj
Sep 2012 - $40.00
Narrow interior roads paved/gravel with some tight turns. I had to back up cause we couldn't go around one block. Sites grass/dirt. Level with fair spacing, shaded, and VG Verizon coverage. Needed extensions for electric and sewer. Park is quiet and owners very helpful. Primarily seasonal with a few campsites near the front. Not bad as a home base for the beaches of Bethany (about 10 min) and Dewey. Site 272 is fairly good. There is a marina and a very small bay side beach. - FreeWheeler
Jul 2008 - $45.00
This campground is on the bay side of Bethany. It is about 2 miles to Bethany Beach. This campground has no facilities but a really good grocery and hardware store is nearby. There is also a small RV store nearby. The sunsets over the bay are spectacular! - home on wheels
May 2016 - $42.00
We have stayed in this park several times, particularly because the North beach is pet friendly. South beach has a lifeguard, but dogs aren't allowed on the beach. The North beach doesn't have a lifeguard. Your camping fee does allow you access to several different beaches, so you can camp in one area and "beach" in another. In season there is a marina open for meals and drinks. Close to Dewey, Bethany and Rehoboth for shopping and restaurants. The campground sites are nice. The roads are paved, flat, and wide enough. Keep dogs off the sandy areas due to sand burrs! Restrooms are roomy and clean. There is a nice clean laundry area, but we didn't use it. I have heard the staff will not allow any early check-ins and have you drive to a beach parking lot a few miles away to wait. I can't say. We never have arrived at check in time! We *thought* we had a fire pit when we camped last year, but there were no pits at any sites this time. - WMRamblers
May 2016 - $43.00
Nice park, good price and convenient for the many attractions in area....especially the fishing! Sites are level, very near sea water so no trees and not a lot of grass surviving in the sand. No Wi-Fi but good signal on our Verizon cell phone. The turn off for the entrance is tricky; we missed the north entrance (before the bridge) but recovered in time to catch the south entrance (after we crossed the bridge). We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area. - Mom_of_Two
Apr 2016 - $40.00
Right on the water. There is a South and North park; North side is newer. South "end" sites, of the North Park side, are closest to water view. we were in 439 and had some water views. Nice paved walk along the water. Beach 150 yards away. Basic sandy sites. Picnic benches. Paved roads and sites. New facilities, although hubby did say he could not get hot water out of the showers, but he did not ask why. Nice little park that I would guess is packed in the summer. New small trees. The only reason I gave it an 8 is that there really is not much at the site itself. - User3274
Jul 2016 - $80.00
Minimum 3 night stay policy. 35 minutes to Rehoboth Beach with no traffic, much longer with traffic. Many times no one picks up phone, have to leave voicemail for callback. Online chat, very long for someone to reply. Wifi is terrible, not workable. Our site was pretty level. Speedy checkin did not work, still had to wait in line inside to checkin. Pool size was actually decent. Dog beach was great, just watch out for biting horse flies. 2 hour private pontoon boat rental $203 was excellent. $99 1 hour jet ski rental available too, all onsite. $65 for golf cart per day. No water shuttle to Rehoboth Beach. Very large camp store. Nice concierge desk. Every site had a second driveway for car or truck. - univmd
Jul 2016 - $85.00
We prepaid for express check in and that didn't work. We had reserved a golf cart which was supposed to be on our site and was not there. We went to get the cart and had to wait 20 minutes for a key. The next day a second cart showed up which we did not need. The layout of the park is terrible. The parking lot at the office is so down hill you cannot unhook your tow vehicle so you have to unhook on the road before backing in. For being a new campground the sites are not very level. The turn at the gate coming in is so sharp you must go around the block to access your site. - queeniegirl
Jun 2016 - $90.00
They have a long way to go before they get to the great service Castaways had before they sold it to Sun Resorts. First, a lot of staff are not being utilized, as they just sit around in golf carts and smoke. Our site was full of cigarette butts when we arrived to find a golf cart full of young men just sitting on our site, and they did not move when we were obviously trying to pull into our site. We had to call management about a couple of female staff members constantly hiding by the bathouse smoking. The person in charge immediately took care of the issue. In addition, WiFi and Cable unreliable. Also, Our particular site, 277, should not have been rented out, as there were hazards all over the place. There was no where to set up, and our mat barely fit. We could not utilize any of the site beyond our mat because of all the ruts, sticks and roots coming out of the ground. Another concern is the fact that there does not seem to be a path to the bathhouse, so when the camp does eventually fill up, the only way to the bathhouse will be to walk through someone else's campsite unless they build a path somewhere.
The swim up pool bar was awesome, and the bartender, Dee was fantastic, but we were constantly dealing with children coming into the adult side and parents even attempting to seat their children at the bar. Management took care of the issue right away, but it happened repeatedly. The beach area was nice, but the pet side of the beach was not very usable, so pet owners were bringing their dogs onto the people beach. This could be a serious issue for some. We have several more reservations made throughout the summer, and since we changed our sites for the remaining, I am still looking forward to coming back. I just hope issues are addressed before we come back next month. - rebcon
