Visiting the park just one week before they close for the season. Only 3 other sites occupied this weekend. My husband grew up in the area and has fond memories of the many family camping trips to Clarksburg State Park (or Mausert's as they called it). Very small campground. Quiet. Very nice restrooms/free, HOT showers. We stayed in our Roadtrek (class B, 23') in sight 22. Fit fine but be warned lots of road noise. Next time we'll opt for site 38 or 42. The pond view sites are very nice but tents only. Price is high at $27. Office offers wood at $5/bundle. Ice, groceries, etc. just a bit up the street at Billmont's. Chilly weekend so we didn't bring the kayaks but we saw one couple canoeing. Good location for seeing all the area has to offer. We camped at Clarksburg State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Use this campground as a base for the many things to do in North Adams (Mass MOCA) and Williamstown. Mt Greylock is the tallest point in Massachusetts and a great day hike (or drive to the top in season)! Enjoy a bite and beer at the Water Street Tavern in Williamstown (a favorite spot for us!). Tunnel City Coffee offers FANTASTIC coffee and treats (Williamstown). And if you like hot dogs, well then you have to visit Jack's on Eagle Street, North Adams.

Nice little state park in northwest Massachusetts. Like other Massachusetts state parks there are no hookups at the campsites, but I was surprised to find that there is no dump station at the park. I was informed that, if needed, I could utilize the dump station at Savoy Mountain State Forest about 10 miles west off of Route 2 with a valid hang tag from Clarksburg.

We booked late for Memorial Day weekend, and Site 31 was the only one that would fit our trailer. It might have worked better for a little pop-up, but we had a tough time getting our 21' trailer in the 23' max spot. The level pad area and driveway were angled the opposite direction you would want for the approach from the one-way traffic loop. Walking the campgrounds, most of the sites had better approaches, and I figured out why #31 was the last one available.

Nice hiking trails through the woods and over many wet and marshy lands. Good views of the pond along the way. Paved loops connect the camping sites and it is a quick walk around to do the figure-8 loop. Not worth bringing bikes for this campsite, unless you want to ride that figure-8 loop a bunch of times. We camped at Clarksburg State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice little park in the Northwest corner of Massachusetts. Very friendly staff, always looking to help out any way they can. It rained most of the time we were there, but the site drained extremely well and we were comfortable the whole weekend. The surrounding area is very interesting with plenty to do and see. The only gripe I have about the park is the showers. They're hard to use with the push buttons which give you a few seconds of water at a time. There's no place to sit to get undressed and no place to hang clothes to keep them dry. We'd definitely come back here for another weekend. We camped at Clarksburg State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice campground. Staff was very friendly. Lots of historical sites to see nearby like Bennington Battle Monument (VT), The Natural Bridge, and Heritage Park Museum (about the construction of the Hoosac Tunnel). Also very close to Mount Greylock the tallest mountain in Massachusetts. We didn't get to drive up it because of the recent snow! We would go back here again to go up Mount Greylock hopefully, with better weather. We camped at Clarksburg State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice state park. The sites are well spaced and quite large. Park staff are very helpful and friendly. My only complaint with the park is that the handicap facilities, as far as the shower goes, are woefully outdated. I have severe arthritis, and limited mobility, and found them impossible to use. The bench seat in the shower is old, cracked, vinyl, unsanitary and slippery when wet. There is no hand held shower head, and worst of all, no dry place to sit in the shower unit to get dressed, though the space is plenty big enough to accommodate a bench. This has NOTHING to do with the condition of the bath house. It was very clean, and the staff checked it numerous times a day. For the average camper, this is not an issue. Just for those of us who have limited mobility for one reason or another. This being said, I would still return here, as it IS a nice park in a good location with a great staff. We camped at Clarksburg State Park in a Tent Trailer.

This park is set in a beautiful old growth pine forest with large boulders interspersed throughout. Some of the trees are real giants hundreds of years old. A good park for hiking and seeing wildlife too. We made the hike around the lake and saw a moose. Park staff are great as they have been in all the MA state parks we have visited. We camped at Clarksburg State Park in a Travel Trailer.
