We are currently staying here, the road into the campground has add gravel added and is much better. Sites are all dirt. Streets are dirt and muddy, lots of pot holes. WiFi sucks and they want you to pay for it. AT&T cell coverage is bad so mifi will not work, maybe a booster will help, but I don't own one. Too Many Trees. I know I'm camping, but make some room for modern campers with slides. Choice of putting slides out or awnings, of course we choose the sliders. Hookups are convenient. I would stay here again because my 30 days are "free", but not worth much $$ - Retsub

We are new elite members and have enjoyed our TT membership greatly. We are full time and it is a big benefit for us. We just left the campground of Gateway to Cape Cod and we have some serious concerns about the resort. We have been full time now for about a year and have stayed in 20 plus resorts in south and eastern coast. The resort at Cape Cod is by far the worst we have ever stayed in. The entrance road is dirt with so many mud holes that is is almost impossible to enter the resort. Once inside, the gate was unmanned and not working. During our week there I never once saw one person manning the gate for security. Every road in the park was almost impassible due to water and terrible mud. I almost got stuck in motor home and auto on several occasions. It is almost impossible to distinquise the roads from sites within park, you must be extremely carelful to be certain you remain on the roads. I asked staff about road conditions and her response was well we don't have a tractor and every time we scrape them it rains and it messes them up again. I asked if there were plans to pave any of roads expecially entrance road and her response was that it had been planned for years but only when money allowed. She said TT had owned park for over 10 years and no road work has been done. I said at least they could put gravel on roads since all of them are sand and mud. I told her it was once of worst I had seen and she got ugly and said well I don't guess you haven't camped very much. Not good customer response to a member. No staff was ever seen on the grounds except in store when I went in and no guard at the gate ever. Not up to standard we were promised with our intro to TT. Can you please pass this on for hopeful help with this park. All of ours have been awesome so far but I don't know if I could go back to this one again. - revrick3

Nice Park as others have said the surface is dirt but plenty of shade cover. All sites are full hook ups and have 50 amp service. WIFI with Verizon was average but you can get by with it. Road into park as stated is part gravel and was very bad, pot holes everywhere and rough. Park is central to allot to be done in thew area from day trips to Boston or out to the cape. Also we did day trips into Rhode Island from this location. Apart from the road we enjoyed our two weeks there and will go back in the future. - M5Adventures

This was a great campground, the facilities were always clean ,the park was always clean, all campers were respectful of the people around them. There was plenty to do in the area ,but if you wanted you would never have to leave the campground ,there is food ,a clean beach and things for kids to do.My only complaint really has nothing to do with the campground ,my new camper and awning were completely covered in globs of tree sap after one week ,luckily I had a cover for my new super duty or it would have been covered too.no fault of the campground just fyi - gsull

Just a warning......this park is "NOT" big rig friendly. I know they advertise that it is but it is not. Very nice upgraded wide dirt/gravel entry into the park, but when you get to the bridge where you have to take a left towards the office there is a tree that poses a problem, (and it's a bigger problem when you exit) then there are low hanging electric cables that will come in contact with your roof and equipment on your roof. Camp employees always will tell you that there will be no problem and that they have had bigger rigs in here than yours, but trust me you will be upset when you try to get into the park. We did not stay because we could not get up the hill past the office, so we left. But $61 was what they were going to charge us. - DonGott
Oct 2015 - $59.00
This campground is so under rated. We camped for the Columbus Day Holiday and the CG seemed to be at full capacity, stretching their facilities and staff to the breaking point. We found the CG to be clean but rustic, giving a pleasant experience in very clean campsites. The office staff was very busy with little to complain about and found them to be very helpful. The security staff seem to be well trained with much better than expected professional attitude. We didn't expect much after reading some previous reviews, but with a change in ownership, this campground has become a desirable family destination, with lots of activities all weekend for both kids and adults alike. There are limited hours allowed for campfires, 4:30 to midnight, which seems to be very reasonable, with security politely enforcing this rule while explaining these hours were part of their permit requirements from the local fire district and town of Wareham.
Maple Park seems to have a large seasonal population and golf carts are allowed and golf cart rentals were available.
The campground had a 'haunted Trail ride' utilizing the 'trolley' buses, amd a 10-15 min. ride through the dark forest, an added extra activity for the holiday weekend. Well organized and executed and immense fun and memories for our families weekend stay. We have already booked ahead for next years holiday weekend and look forward to our return. This campground was recommended to us by friends, and we highly recommend this wonderful CG to all of our RVing friends and family. - Captain Dave

A 50-yr old campground that is doing very good. Only real issue was that the sites can be muddy when it rains and mud splatters on the sides of the RV. - AvalonDF41
Aug 2017 - $60.00
We found Bay View to be pricey for a cramped, nothing special site. The wifi was pathetic, especially for the price. Their bathrooms were clean and the showers were nice but still very tight. The laundry facility was the most I've ever paid $3.25 per load for wash and .25 for 4 minutes of drying time. Two loads was $10.oo and there were no baskets or carts to transfer from the washers to the dryers. The campsites were very close and there were a lot of seasonal campers which equals lots of 'stuff' around their trailers/motorhomes. Not sure we'd ever stay here again. - Cinzia
Aug 2016 - $67.00
We were attending a wedding and found most of the RV parks booked months ahead. Bay View was available and although expensive, we took it. Site was wide, level and wooded. Backed up to a site that had a derelict trailer and lots of junk. If we had invited guests to visit our site, they would have to pay $7 each to enter the park if staying more than 30 minutes. If we return to area, will look for another park. - Dunwoodyradio

Went to the Cape, but unfortunately we picked a weekend with a lot of rain. But we still had a good time getting away. Our site was a little narrow. Would have like to have better Wi-Fi coverage. As campgrounds on the Cape go, this one is pretty good. - jp873
Oct 2011 - $39.00
Right on Cape Cod Canal next to lovely walk/bike trail. Very dense shade sandy ground. Some sites very narrow, but ours was large. Seasonal rigs with a lot if stuff lying around detract from the beauty. Water pressure in showers way too high to stand under. Wi-Fi only available 300 feet from office, but office open until 9:00 PM and they invite you to sit there. And there is a large pavilion with access. Store open on weekends in off season. No real alternatives, and this CG isn't bad. - Doogiesmom

Bourne Scenic Park is narrow piece of land about a mile long located between route 6 and the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne, MA starting just west of the Bourne Bridge. This is a town run campground on land leased to them by the Army Corps of Engineers. Management, the office staff, store staff and staff in the campground were very friendly and helpful when asked. The location of the campground makes it a great place for watching the boats and ships traveling through the canal. The manned security gate is a plus. Our site had 50 amp service with gray water pit. We were told only a small section of the campground had upgraded electrical service. There is a dump station for black water. Wi-Fi is only available at the pavilion. There appears to be a lot of scheduled activities and two small pools manned with lifeguards. There are almost no mosquitoes, I guessing due to the smoke. The store had the best Ice Cream. Now for the negative review. 1. Part of campground sits directly below the Bourne Bridge. This bridge transverses the Cape Cod Canal. Trucks crossing over the top use their Jake Brake to slow down in both directions. Tires hitting the expansion joints add to the noise (thump, thump). The noise of the traffic and the braking gets to be very annoying. 2. Emergency vehicles across the canal start their sirens leaving the station and appear to not shut them off until the reach their destination. By the frequency of the noise, they get a lot of calls. 3. NO Air Conditioners are allowed to be used even though we had 50 amp service at 120 plus volts. This means that if you shut your RV’s windows due to the campfire smoke you literally roast. It can get very hot and damp in the RV at night. The smoke just seems to hang in the trees due to the heavy canopy.. 4. No cable and we could only get one station (not all the time though) consistently OTA. We had to face the antenna toward the Bourne Bridge even though the station was in the opposite direction. Trees blocked any chance of a remote satellite dish. 5. Even though there are a lot of sites with grass and excellent views of the canal, you cannot get reserve one. The seasonals have almost all of them. Our site was all sand. 6. Burning of trash in the fire pits is a frequent pastime at this campground. Nothing like the smell of burning trash before you get up in the morning. 7. As far as I could see, none of their rules are being enforced. C section is far enough away so that the bridge noise is significantly reduced. This section is well above the canal. There are many sets of steps leading to the canal service road. The number of steps range from 20 to 50 steps depending where you are located in C section. This section is extremely tight. The larger sites and the sites with a canal view appear to be taken by the seasonals. The roads are very narrow in C section. My neighbor from Rhode Island mentioned to me that the seasonals were not very friendly and I agree. If you can deal with the noise, no A/C , heavy smoke and the smell of burning trash, this might be the perfect campground for you. Until they allow the use of A/C's, I would not recommend Bourne Scenic Park. - ploiselle

Giant state park with a nice network of hiking paths and paved bike trails. We stayed at the lower end of Fearing Pond at site H9. We chose the Fearing Pond loop after reading other reviews that mentioned the main Charge Pond camping area had a reputation for being a little rowdier and noisy, even after quiet hours. For the most part, the Fearing loop was quiet, but the campsites are very close to each other with no vegetation or cover between sites. This also means that it is easy to hear conversations of campers at nearby sites.
Our site was an easy walk to Fearing Pond, where there was a nice, small beach. We were told over the phone that no non-marine-grade flotation devices were allowed in the water, but many families brought inflatable floats and appeared to use them without trouble. There are no kayaks to rent on-site, but there is a rental place a few miles away, with the guideline of renting for no less than a full day, and transporting it to and from the camp on your own.
There were multiple potable water stations and dump stations located on a loop behind the check-in station, for easy fill-up/dumping on the way in or out of the park. Additionally, many potable water stations were located throughout the loops in the park. - malsbury

First time visitors to this campground. We were in the Charge Pond area A and half of the other areas were closed. I don't know if they open up more as the season picks up. The beach area at Charge Pond was nice. The water was clear, there was good fishing, and it wasn't busy at all. The campground was clean with sandy sites and that near the ocean kind of feel. There is about 20 feet of forest between each site. The kids enjoyed riding their bikes on the paved bike paths. Make sure you have a map and pre-plan your trip as it can get confusing without one. We were hoping to climb the fire tower but it was locked up. We would go back again, but it's kind of a long drive. Oh, the bathroom had a door that was left open but it didn't matter because there wasn't a screen on it. - B. P. Donelan
Jul 2010 - $14.00
We camped here on a weekend where all sites were full, but found the Barrett's Pond area very quiet. Our site (J11) was small but level. Backing in was tricky due to a small incline, but I was able to do it on the first try. After exploring the park, I realized that there was only a handful of sites that were level enough for a travel trailer, and we clearly had the largest TT in the park. Park is more suited to pop-ups and tents. Firewood cannot be taken in or out of Massachusetts parks due to the ALH beetle, but firewood is reasonably priced. Bike paths made this dry camping experience worth it. 15 miles of paved paths; however, they are very hilly, and would be difficult for small children to pedal on their own. The College Pond swimming area is nice and has a small sandy beach and a place for renting kayaks/canoes. The weekend we were there, we arrived at 10AM and people had already begun placing belongings on all the picnic tables in the park. Guests can use the lake on a day pass, so there were many very large groups playing music and cooking all around us. The water was nice and the experience would have been better if it had been limited to camping patrons only. - Craig family

No frills! This is an open field with 5 sites on it that offer water, electric and sewer. The sites are at least 100 feet long - pull through - and far apart. Lots of elbow room. The field is grass and the sites are gravel. Very quiet and secluded. The utilities were good and steady and water pressure was over 60 pounds of pressure so we regulated down to 60 pounds of pressure. The park (if that's what you want to call it) is deep into the USCG Joint Base which is very large with huge areas of open land; so to go anywhere you travel a good bit to get there. The exchange is a small grocery store and the back is the other stuff. Not bad at all. Verizon cell service was good, no wifi, no cable, no bathrooms, showers, etc. This is a good place to hang your hat while visiting the area. Just realize ahead of time that it offers no amenities and is off the beaten path. (LOL - that's okay too because the traffic in Cape Cod is very bad!) - jomark

We really liked this park. Since we went late in the season, it was not crowded or noisy. It was great having the local General Store right at the entrance of the park. The laundry room is tiny, with only a couple of machines and no air conditioning. The pull-through sites were level and well spaced. There was a nice playground for kids. The roads to get to the park are very winding, but manageable for big rigs. We would stay here again. - Gannonrv
Jun 2017 - $52.00
The campground was clean and plenty of room to get into your site. Bourne Road is not the best getting to the campground, but slow and easy makes the day. The hookups; electric, cable and water is almost at the front of the site which barely worked with my 50 amp service cable. Could have used an extension. Would stay again if in the area as it is close to Cade Cod area. - bkboren
Sep 2016 - $59.00
Campground has potential, but I think owners prefer to pocket money instead of upgrading. Some sites look as though the campers are running kennels with sites allowed to have as many as 6 dogs. Most sites have at least 2 or more dogs. Very noisy! I get the impression that any complaints would fall on deaf ears of owners. Most dog owners don't even pick up after their dogs! Have noticed some seasonal sites don't keep dogs on leash. Sites are extremely close with streets being all dirt. This creates for a very dusty environment, since most campers don't follow the speed limit. Only plus I see is location. Campground sits very close to Cape Cod and beaches. - Roadglider

Aug 2017 - $54.00
We stayed over the week of labor day. We liked the pullthru area. 50 amps and sewer. The Big Rig area had no trees & that is alright with me. All the barking & kids noise was over in the well kept camp areas away from us. There many seasonal campers here. Lots of things for family & kids to enjoy. The staff were friendly. Service was great & the Camp was clean. This really is a great spot. The only issue we had was the laundry. We are fulltime and found the laundry facility to be the only thing lacking. There simply were not enough washers or dryers. With 300 or so campsites, 5 units did not meet the demands. - KodiTzu
Jun 2015 - $54.00
This park was one of the best we've stayed at. They have rows of seasonal campsites, some of which could use cleaning up, but if you stay in the area of the day campers, you will be fine. We had full hookups with 50 amp, and the spaces were very wide on both sides. The area has large trees, and it is a great camping experience. The staff is super-friendly and accommodating. They have a higher daily rate over the weekend (Fri-Sun). We could not get satellite TV because of the trees, but we were able to get 24 over-the-air channels, so we could keep up with the news and some of our favorite shows on network TV. They do offer Wi-Fi, and once connected, is fairly fast. It is close to Plymouth, and Boston is 1 hour away. - Ferdy

This is an older campground with lots of seasonal lots, some of which are a little rough. However, if you want to visit the Cape, then this campground offers some benefits. On the plus side, the Shining Seas bike path is adjacent to the campground and they offer a shuttle service to the ferry boats for Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. They also sell the ferry tickets so you just take the shuttle and walk right onto the boat. This is a real convenience. They have a really nice campground brochure that folds out into a map of the Cape with some featured directions. They offer free WiFi that worked quite well for us. On the downside, they have possibly the worst driveways I have seen. There is asphalt until you get to the campsite loop, then it starts to break up with tree roots and potholes, then it turns to rutted dirt. In addition, the driveway is very narrow and has a steep drop. We found it difficult to get level on the site we had, sloped back to front and side to side. I would rate the showers and bathrooms as acceptable, generally clean, good water pressure, but I was not able to get the shower door to lock so had two people walk in during my shower. We had a site with water and 30 amp electric for $53 per night, sewer dump is available. We could not get satellite TV due to tree cover but had a good selection of over the air channels. AT&T 4G signal strength was -97 dBm, fairly good. - Coopsecondact
Sep 2014 - $40.00
Very close to downtown Falmouth and the bus to Martha's Vineyard ferry. Very quiet and close to an impressive bike path. Rustic, dirt sites mostly, small streets but good enough for a 35 footer. I enjoyed the stay because of the convenience mostly. I would go again if going to the area. - jaygee
Jun 2012 - $49.00
We only stayed here one night as a stop when getting off the Martha's Vineyard Ferry. The campground is very clean and the staff were immensely friendly and helpful. It abuts the bike trail. However, the site we were given was nearly impossible to get into. Roads are washed dirt, very narrow, twisty and rocky. If it weren't for our friendly seasonal neighbor we would have never gotten into the site. A walk around the campground shows this to be true of most sites. Very tight with poor approaches. More than 70% of the campground seems to be seasonals. It served our purpose for one night, but would probably not plan an entire week here. - Everyboysmomma

We stayed here for 8 nights. This is a large campground with a lot of amenities for in season. 2 pools, mini golf, paddle boat rentals, paddle board rentals, arcade, etc. We stayed off season so the price was a little high for anything we could take advantage of. But to that point there weren't many campers left and only a few transients staying. They spaced us out so we all had plenty of room which was great. They have cable with minimal channels, but enough. Cell service with Verizon was okay so we were able to hot spot Wifi. We had one of the premium sites which came with a stone fire pit, paver patio and picnic table and Adirondack chairs around the pit. They also have plenty of cabins to rent. Area is a good place to explore the western side of the Cape, Plymouth, and ferry to Martha's Vineyard and other areas. We would stay here again. - Fulltimingit
Oct 2016 - $62.00
Very nice campground, although no site wifi. Office closes early. Spacious, paved level and treed. Watch GPS directions, ours weren't accurate. Well worth the price. Cabins are very nice, as our friends stayed in them. Staff was very helpful about things to do in the area. - Maltaman
Aug 2016 - $76.00
We stayed here for 2 months (June 29-Aug 29). We got the monthly rate of about $2000 per month for a "Glampsite."
Very disappointed. Wifi is almost non existent. If you want wifi in your rig, stay near the office. Use the Deck connection as the pool connection is worthless.
Electric power is spotty. My surge protector kept turning off power because of low voltage. They ask you to use only 1 AC, not two. Bathrooms are not very nice. Clean but not upscale. Many staff not friendly. Must pay for guests. Will not come back. - Mike Perrault
