The staff was friendly and helpful...this is your typical koa, sites ar close together but they are level and the services worked great....campground is big rig friendly, most sites are gravel with very little shade and no barrier between sites...good ATT service and WiFi was ok, but we used hotspots instead...the laundry that I used had one washer and two drivers but they and/or it worked fine.....the restrooms were ok but the shower had a small problem, when someone was doing a load of wash the water for shower would stop when washer was filling or rinsing, at first I didn't realize what was happening but I figured it out I think, with a head full shampoo and no water, so I waited and yes the water came back on and off several more times but I managed to get my shower in, so beware...management was told of problem....but like other reviews the showers could use a makeover and more stalls...a little bit of a drive from interstate but we did it with our 36' mh pulling toad, a lot of places to eat and shop in nearby towns.... We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

The site was clean and level. All of the hook-ups were well kept. The road into the site was dirt, but relatively level as well. No obstacles getting the camper into the site. The bathrooms however, were a very different story. They really need to start over with them. There are not enough stalls (2 for the women and only 1 for the men.)(One shower per bathroom as well.) They are also old and a little to well used, so they feel dirty. The ones in the back section were not much better but they did have more stalls. Seasonal sites in the back section need to get cleaned up. Stay in the front section. The staff was excellent and very helpful. I would stay here again, but I do hope the update and clean the bathrooms. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

One hidden gem is the Eric Carle Museum. It isn't a big museum (3 large exhibit rooms, a library, small auditorium and a store). It doesn't need to be big though as the curators are very careful and the art displays are very well thought out. Make sure to stop in the store because they have many signed copies as well as many books in multiple languages. Prices were reasonable too. Happy trails!

Pros: Staff friendly, supportive. Sites level, gravel, full hookups, Wi-Fi, cable TV. Delivered newspaper one day, firewood delivered if requested. Park was much larger than first appears. The further you explore the back sites are wooded, private but used by people living there permanently or use as summer home. Many activities for adults and children. Cons: The bathrooms were dated. Typically we shower at sites because our RV bath is small and of course more hot water; this time we always used our shower. We stayed a week so this was inconvenient for us, but not a deal breaker. The park and surrounding views were pleasant and the nights were heavy with smoke from all the campfires. We had to keep our windows closed, but that is what camping is, campfires! We would come again. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

The area is beautiful. We happened to be there when the town was having a festival and a local pig roast at a great local market. Bike trails great for biking and walking. Outlook Market is a must and Tandems Bagel shop great. We would return.

This was an unplanned stop due to mechanical problems. The site was very kind and very flexible as we did not know from day-to-day if we were staying or leaving. Ended up spending three nights. You are surrounded by hills which were also showing fall colors; nice.

This is an older park that, I suspect, was recently brought into the KOA family. The sites in the back behind the first row of cabins are the older sites and are almost all dirt pads located amongst many trees.

Those sites around the cabins and out front near the office are all newer and are all very level gravel base. The seven or so pull through sites up front are great sites but just a little bit too close for our liking. However, at this time of year, it wasn't a problem. These sites are wide open, no trees.

The park is near a farm with lots of cows and when the wind is just right...which sometimes it is...well you know. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

At least 12 miles off the Mass Pike but the secondary roads are fine for a big rig. We were an overnite passing thru Mass. Doesn't seem like there is a lot to do nearby. 6 flags is 27 miles. They created new big rig sites last year and ours was an EZ in and out (97). We had shade and nice grass which was helpful because it was hot with a picnic table and paver fire ring. These were the high points. Our outside nice grass area was within 12' of a cabin. If it was occupied we'd be on top of each other. As it was mid week there wasn't a problem. Would be a great site if a family had a camper and others stayed in the cabin. 50 amp electric under 120 coming in on each leg so had to juggle what was on or off. It really struggled all night and one of our a/c units went out because of low power. Cable tv needed a call to the office. Someone had switched the wires. Go figure. We waited over an hour for someone to show. Wifi hotspot weak. Some devices could not connect and when one is on too long it throws you out even if you're not using much broadband. It happened just as I was writing this review! Upfront sites for transients are narrow, close and full sun. Way overpriced at over $50. Not many campgrounds or parks in the area that can accommodate big rigs. Would not return unless desperate. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

New pull thru site, 90' long, made it very easy to set up. Campground is large, with a lot of activities, but in need of weed killer and a can of paint. Landscaping was , at one time, gorgeous but now choked out with weeds. Lot's of buildings for everything form game room to snack shop, but need boards replaced and painted, nothing dangerous, just not cosmetically appealing, even for being in the woods. Great shade, easy access to entire campground and decent sized sites. Weekend events were numerous and well communicated including a large event board at the pool so all would know what was going on. Kid events and family events.. we were there for Christmas in July and the park was decorated with lights and Santa made a stop to give out presents to the kids. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

So hard to to judge, because some parts of this park are great, while others need to be attended to. Great dog park and newer playground. Tired and worn bathroom/showers (though clean). Only one shower per shower house. Plenty of activities for kids. Interior roads need a fresh application of gravel. They really try with nice plantings and free nice kindling to help yourself to when you buy firewood. Constant clouds of dust near the front from the golf carts the staff and guests use to get around. We were in one of the pull-through sites in front - quite close together. There seemed to be something lacking in the work ethic of the younger staff.

One thing comes to mind as I think about this campground. I witnessed interactions between staff and the owner's youngish daughter (who speeds around on a golf cart all day with various friends). From her treatment of those she spoke to/at - can attest to where the breakdown in customer service occurs. In the service industry, attitude can make or break your experience. As long as you don't have much interaction with certain staff, you'd be fine.

All in all, if you are visiting the area, it's a fine choice to stay. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For a close breakfast stop, check out Outlook Farm, only a mile up on Route 66 from the campground. Lots of fresh baked goods!

Looking for Pizza? Pizanos was recommended by the camp store staff and was a solid choice.

If you are a fan of the poetess Emily Dickinson, a tour of her homestead and grave in Amherst should be stops to check out.

This older campground is family owned and operated. Not a lot of campers here this time of year so the park was fairly empty, quiet, and was set to close by Nov. 1. There is a small book exchange in the store/office; store was almost empty since they were closing. Pull through sites are located in the front area. They are long, level, and have 50amp. Other sites in the park are back in, with or without utilities, and located in the trees. We used this as our base for exploring this part of the state. Lots of restaurants, shopping, and exploring about 10-15 minutes away. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.

I must say this campground is way off the beaten path, 8 to 10 miles from the freeway and not much around the campground. This was our first time staying at a KOA and I thought KOA was meant higher standards. This campground itself is run down. The roads are very narrow and could stand to have a few trees removed. It appears that they have had several wash outs as the roads could use a scrape. Once we arrived at our site 55 we had a fairly large site that was all gravel. The pedestal was positioned in the middle of the site. The power was adequate as well as the water pressure. The sewer was at the end of the site in which I needed to use 2 hoses in order to reach. Although they advertise WIFI, that is only available at the office. I guess I cannot forget to mention that why have rules when you do not make your seasonal resident abide by them. The rules say no motorized vehicles, yet several full timers have quads, motorcycles etc... We were given a gate key upon check in but every time we came back to the campground the gate was left open (even at 11pm). All in all the campground did the trick so that we could visit the Big E fair (40 minutes away). We will not return to this campground. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Travel Trailer.

I'd give this park a negative rating if I could. Started with an overcrowded, dirty office and very slow check-in process. Fairly tight roads and turns to get to our site, but the site itself wasn't bad - until I plugged in the electric. We kept losing power due to low voltage. Maintenance initially blamed other campers running their AC as the problem, and then only made a half-hearted attempt to fix the issue. Office staff couldn't get their stories straight about whether or not any other sites were available (I was told three different things), and then to make things worse lied to me. Demanded a full refund and left that evening, never to return.

While I note that our particular site wasn't bad, others were extremely tight, to the point that I'd be nervous about opening my awning in fear of hitting my neighbor's rig. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This campground was chosen strictly for its overnight location. it's sites were very close and on either dirt or grass. Winding stone/dirt road to most sites. Although the reservations were made 4 months prior for 3 adjacent sites, the campground staff booked trailers between us. Also, at the time of reservation, we were told that there were no full hookups available and that we would be placed in the overflow area with e&w. We accepted that but upon arrival, there were several full hookup sites that could have accommodated us. Rain caused the campground to be a muddy mess. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stopped here for an overnight on our way through MA. We stayed in a pull-thru site at the front of the campground. It looked like the 10 or so spots that are now pull-thrus were once the parking area. They have grass and gravel but they're pretty close to each other, with no trees, and the fire pits are at the back end of the campsites, which was a little awkward. We were eating dinner inside our camper while the neighbors sat practically below us by their fire pit. We could literally look down on them out the window. We didn't use the showers or restrooms so I can't rate those. The woman at the check-in desk was extremely nice and helpful. Our campsite was literally 15' from the office but she insisted on calling a man in a golf cart to lead us to our site (huh?). The rest of the campground is shaded and hilly, with about 1/3 permanent sites. There were a lot of activities for families and this would be a good choice if you had young children. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park. Great pull thrus right up front. We stayed here once on the way to Maine and again on the way back. Our pups loved the Kamp K9. They were busy adding dishwashing stations. Nice to see a park that keeps updating their facilities. We tuned off the GPS and followed their directions without any problems. Nice stop off the turnpike. We will stay again. We camped at Northampton / Springfield KOA in a Motorhome.
