3 Parks near Baraga, Michigan
Jul 2010 - $25.00
Easy access next to US41. Some noise from the highway and railroad line immediately behind the park, but it didn't bother us. Interior roads are paved. Sites are grass. Some sites very shady, but the site we stayed on had a few trees. Sat TV was no problem at our site and Verizon Wireless had full bars service. About half of the RV sites have 30 amp electric. You may need an extension cord to reach the pedestal. Water is available at only a few places in the park. Good central sewer dump location. Keweenaw Peninsula is beautiful. Nearby casino with RV park. - eaglessoc

I downgraded my rating from last year because I reserved a pull thru site and they did not have mine available when I got there. Also, the traffic noise from the highway seemed to be worse then last year. The south section of campground was closed so it got a little busy in the north section. I was surprised how many campers there were, again reservations not essential unless you want a pull thru. A good place for base camp. - Tom51

This is a great, small state park. Good campground facilities for a state park, with no sewer and water at site, but a very convenient dump station and water points. The park has not much other than the campground. We would definitely stay again. - wandrr

The RV parking sites are blacktop extending off the casino parking lot. We were on site 10 and it was level. Except for casino, restaurant and hotel traffic in the lot it was quiet. Every day they will give you a guest package good for $5 gambling and a free drink. Pretty good deal when it is only $20 a night to stay. After some rain sites 1 thru 4 had some standing water. Verizon and DirecTV worked well. Each site had its own trash receptacle. We stayed for 12 days. They don't take reservations but the 12 spaces never filled. We would definitely stay here again. - User1984

As detailed in other reviews, this park is parking spaces off to the side of the main parking lot. Full hookups are provided with most sites having 30 amp electric. Also note that utilities are oddly placed with some on left side and the next site would be on the right side. - lllkrob

All sites are back in and odd #'s have to cross over for water. Asphalt parking lot, pick your site and then register at the hotel desk. There is no CTV and no HDTV. There are hotel and casino restrooms but nothing dedicated to the RV park and no showers. Garbage hadn't been picked up in a long time. There is no room for your tow vehicle or toad on the site so must park in the parking lot. There is grass between the RV sites and each has a picnic table. This is a casino and weekends brings late noise. An okay location to do the Keweenaw Peninsula from. We would stay here again, if in the area. - SilverBear

Excellent views of the bay at Sand Point just on the North side of Baraga, MI at the lighthouse. All sites have 30 amp service but no water or sewer hookups. Dump station is available. Sites along the waterfront are $20/night and the inland sites (still a lakeview but across the road) are $15. Everything is first come first served. All sites are grass with a fire pit and picnic table. Roughly 2/3 of the sites are waterfront. There are very few trees except for a small grove of pines near the center of the waterfront sites. All roads are smooth and paved.
This seems to be a local secret since the state park nearby was quite busy but this gem of campground was nearly empty. When you enter, turn towards the marina to pay the manager. There is a house and a garage with a drop box for the registration papers, otherwise the manager will come to your site for payment.
There is a boat ramp and excellent spots at the lakefront sites to launch a kayak. Fishing is excellent around the marina plus there is a small pond near the rear of the campground. There is free Wi-Fi all around the park. Wi-Fi antennas are visible at several points. We got 2 Mb download speed but very few other campers in the park.
The website is old and outdated. There are many pieces of information that are not accurate as of 2015. The website says rates are $8 per night but it's $20. There are discounts for tribal members. Weekly rates are $100 per week on the waterfront and $65 for inland. - Craig H
