The Good: Close to Boyne City which has a nice Farmers Market. Nice swimming beach. Our Verizon aircard had a good signal here. The Bad: This park is not a highlight in the MI State Park system. The roads are narrow and the facilities are aging. The park was extremely crowded with High School track and cross-country teams. We saw sites with 5-6 large tents on them with multiple kids in each tent. We thought there was a rule covering how many unrelated campers could be on each site. The bathrooms and showers were not cleaned any more for the large crowd so were constantly muddy. The park was loud until quite late. Other campers had parked their trailers parallel to and right next to the already-narrow road which made getting our RV in difficult. Not a restful or enjoyable visit. We camped at Young State Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Most of sites are a bit cramped in, and the numerous boats and trailers parked all over do not help the maneuvering process. Our site #80 in Terrace had lots of small pieces of garbage in-bedded in the dirt, otherwise not a bad size site as it backed onto trees and the trail area. Bathrooms were closed/cleaned at very inconvenient times: 9:00am every morning. Only 2 water spigots to fill up with and one is very slow, you may be in for a wait. On the plus side Lake Charlevious is absolutely gorgeous! Very accessable from Oak section. The sandy beach in the park is awesome. Boyne City and surrounding area just beautiful. Lots of stuff to do around the area, shopping zipline, etc. Will come back to the area but will pass on the park. We camped at Young State Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Nice park. We stayed in the Oak section right on the water. Could not ask for a better view/site. Campground was large with beautiful beach and store. Great walking trails in park. Nice area. We camped at Young State Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Great state park on one of the most beautiful inland lakes in Michigan. If you want a great beach within a short walk of your campsite, this is a good spot. The spots are a little close together and there can be very little privacy. This is not a woods campground. Highly recommend. We camped at Young State Park in a Tent Trailer.Undo

Clean, clear Lake Charlevoix. Gorgeous nature trails- be sure to have high, waterproof boots if you do the 'deer flats' trail. 'Mirror lake' is perfect for young fishers. Softball diamond, basketball court, and horseshoes. 'Oak' and 'Terrace' sites are larger and more private- the lakefront sites provide beautiful views of the lake. 'Spruce' is wide open- good for group camping. Happened to be a slow week on our visit (early summer), however, other campers told me the CG is normally packed during the summer- not hard to see why. Boyne City is close enough for convenience. We camped at Young State Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Park was beautiful. Has 3 campground loops: Spruce, Terrace and Oak. We camped in Oak, site #24 and many of the sites in this loop had great waterfront views if not waterfront access to Lake Charlevoix. Terrace campground is on the lake and has a boat launch. Restrooms clean and the campstore was good, sold ice cream, firewood, ice and other basic supplies. Bathrooms and showers were very clean although the first night the hot water was out but was fixed by next afternoon. Beach was clean with sandy bottom.
