Our site was small and dirty. Once we checked in, the emlpoyees avoided us. They didn't speak, wave, etc. Upon check in, a HUGE deal was made about the 5 MPH speed limit, yet people raced around all weekend. The free root beer floats were nice, as was the kids church on Sunday. All of the barking dogs were annoying! We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Travel Trailer.

If you have 2 kids, 10 and under, this is your dream! Lots of blow up jumpy things and candy gooies in the store for them.

If you are like us, avoid on weekends at all costs.

Place is like a former KOA, but needs about 100 loads of gravel to level out sites that are mostly dirt and tree roots. Lots of trees. We ask to change from a rooted dirt site and they put us on another dirt site, even though there were unused gravel sites available.

We will probably not stay here again. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Motorhome.

Great family rv park. Lots of organized activities for kids and many very unique and popular types of playground equipment. Dramatic improvements over the last 4 years in many areas. The park is a great mix of seasonal campers, vacationing families with kids, and and a few overnighters. Lots of shade. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We booked one of their two "premium" RV sites on the corner, adjacent to the row of full-timers. The roads at this campground are VERY narrow for big rigs, and cars from all of the campers and their guests are parked within inches of the road or on the road for virtually the entire way around the campground. Sites are all back-in around the perimeter of the campground, and I'm experienced with my rig and not at all intimidated about back-in sites. But with the narrow road and cars parked all along and on it, getting into my site was a challenge. Most other campers were not around to move their parked cars, though I suspect a couple of on-lookers were just curious to see how close I could come to hitting some! I was able to get into this corner site, but if I were at any of the non-corner sites, my 42' RV would not have been able to make the turn to back-in unless I was able to round up the campers who were parked all along the road.

Once in the site, I had to back DEEP into the woods until I could find a somewhat level spot. My site was not paved--most of them weren't, and there was very little gravel to help level things out. My heavy rig squished out what little gravel there was anyway, but eventually I got to a point where I could level--but only with my front wheels suspended 3" off the ground.

This is an old-school campground, primarily targeting young families. There are loads of outdoor activity for kids, and there are MANY kids there to enjoy it. Noise died down at around 10PM, and even the parents were exhausted by then so we did have quiet evenings.

Location was convenient for our purposes, but we won't stay here again with our rig. Anything bigger than 35' probably should seek other options in my opinion. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Motorhome.

My site was big enough for my trailer but most appeared to be smaller. A little tight backing in and lot was not level at the back of the space. Lots of kids and families, as campground is really a great place for them. Even with all the kids the campground was very quiet after dark. I would return again as staff and other campers are very friendly. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Many state parks are within easy driving distance and the Dunes are a must-see sight. Lots of shopping near by. Early check in allowed as long as site is open.

We stayed in the Premium Sites (C Section) which were just long enough for our 37' 5th wheel and truck. These sites are not very wide. Campground is very family friendly and has plenty of activities for children. Location was convenient for a local wedding we attended, but probably will not be back due to site size. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here for 2 nights over Memorial Day weekend. Have a 25 ft motorhome and was easy to navigate in an out with all sites off a paved road. Park was packed with campers (mostly travel trailers) and cars. I have never seen so many people per campsite. Sites are very very close together and are even with each other so makes them feel even closer. Sites was pretty level but gets muddy when when it rains but they provide a raised movable wooden deck to help mitigate. Amenities are targeted at families, and those with young kids will enjoy pool and bouncy area. All others it represents a good overnight spot when exploring the area. Saugatuck is great nearby town on Lake Michigan to visit for a few hours if in the area. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Motorhome.

Campground was clean and the staff courteous. I think that at least 85% or more of the sites are seasonal. We stayed for a week in a big 5th-wheel. All the sites are very close together, and there are no pull through sites. All the sites are right angle back-ins with narrow entrance roads. You have to be very careful when backing in. All interior roads are asphalt. The roads are narrow but can be navigated without too much trouble. The site was fairly level. On weekends, the campground is overfilled with children and young adults with tents. If we return to the area, we will look for other campgrounds to find more room between the sites. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground was clean and the staff courteous. Roughly 10 min from downtown Grand Rapids. I would estimate that 85%+ of the sites are seasonal. We stayed for 3 nights in the premium site area. The sites (all sections) are very close together and fortunately our site was on the curve of the road so we could back our 45' motorhome with little trouble. However, if we had one of the other sites it would of been very difficult if not impossible without having to get adjacent vehicles across the street moved out of the way to make the swing. The roads are narrow but can be navigated without too much trouble. The site was fairly level. We will be returning to area. However, will explore some of the other campgrounds to find more room between the sites. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Motorhome.

We've been coming here for 10+ years and have enjoyed every minute of it. The owner is very friendly and always there to help with something if needed. It a grown over the years with things to do for the older kids. There is always something going and from root beer floats and train ride to glow stick parade. It's a nice park for family and is clean. It's close to Grand Rapids and other attractions. Now my kids go there with their kids and we can all get together and enjoy the pool, bean bag toss and shuffle board. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Motorhome.

Close to Grand Rapids. Very family friendly..great playground. Lot of seasonals. Many daily sites border the playground which gets very loud but does quiet down well at night. CG entry would be very tricky for large rigs..sharp right/left turn just as you come off the main road. My site was difficult to back into...tree on both sides and car parked on the road (and owner just sat in a chair and watched me struggle). As I was next to corner sites, I had two rigs back right up to my awning/picnic table. Strange water/electric. Water shared by up to 3 sites and was in front/right, while electric was way in the back/left. Stayed here to attend the AQS Quilt Show, so worked well for that. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent location to downtown Grand Rapids, 15 minutes. Great neighborhood, many HOA type communities around. Also, the turns inside the campground were tight for our 43 motorcoach towing SUV. The yellow stones at each corner need to be removed, they can cause serious damage if hit at the wrong angle, also the worn log at the first corner inside should be watched out for too, when heading to site. Otherwise, the campground, playground, pool, and jumping pillow were indeed beautiful. Our 50 amp full hookup premium site was level and backed to trees. The Wi-Fi is marked as unavailable, because it did not work. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is geared toward seasonal campers. The seasonal sites are on the outside ring of the campground. The interior back-in sites are sold to travelers passing through. Most of the interior sites have low limbs, we were traveling with friends and finally found 2 sites that didn't have tree limbs touching our side. It is OK for big rigs, but interior roads are gravel and not level. Our site was not level, but we only stayed one night. The Wi-Fi is free. We would stay again if in the area, but only for one night. We camped at Woodchip Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is busy campground with a fair number of tenters, and seasonals. Sites are average in size with most of them shaded by trees. Sites are grass with gravel roads. Dust is relatively minimal with 5mph limit in the park. Lots of families with kids. However, all was nicely quiet after 10PM. Our site had a picnic table, and fire ring with 30amp electric, water and sewer hookups. WIFI signal was excellent. Staff was friendly. We stayed for two days in a 36ft motorhome.
