We stayed at site #158 in the older section backing onto the woods. Lots of nature and fairly quiet except for the numerous dogs. Most owners tried to keep their dogs from barking insanely but I noticed the campground staff did very little too keep the noise level down. Bathroom is older but staff did a pretty good job keeping in clean. I liked the park and will return someday. We camped at Sleeper State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of things to do nearby like kayaking in the Pinnebog River and to Turn-up Rock, Stargazing at the dark sky preserve at Port Cresecent day park ( There is a sign that says it closes at 10pm. What kind of dark sky preserve closes under an hour after it gets dark. This sign is only a distraction for those using the beach. ) or just walk down to Sleepers Beach at night. Use the beach and Port Crescent day park as well, not as busy and nice area to relax.

The park wants to deter people from spending the night or having fires on the beach, but the gate is not locked the dark sky is nice and dark with some seating areas.

One of the best State Parks we've ever stayed in. Exceptionally clean!!! The Ranger was out picking up cigarette butts!! Rude people throwing them down!! No TV reception but excellent WiFi. We stayed in site 139 in a 37' motorhome. Nice lots of all different sizes. Bridge walkway over M25 to the beautiful sandy beach. Some lots shady some sunny....whatever you want! We will definitely be back here. We camped at Sleeper State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice state park. Friendly people in the office. We noticed low points on some sites when it rained for couple days. Electric only sites. We camped at Sleeper State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This park is located within walking distance of a beautiful beach. It is very tight, very close sites and has little grass due to high usage. As a big rig there are not many options but we did fit on our site. It is crowded and noisy with lots of children and pets that are not under control. The location, however, makes up for its shortcomings and the 50 amps is a plus!! We camped at Sleeper State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice campground. We had site 172 facing the road but found it to be quit nice. Nice amount of woods between us and road. Very relaxing. Some of the interior road sites seems a little cramped to me. To get to the beach you have to cross the busy road or you can go over the cross walk. There is a nice store that serves Ice Cream with-in walking distance of park. The stars were awesome at this park at night. We camped at Sleeper State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We've visited this park annually for their fall harvest weekend celebration. Each year we say we won't be returning, but someone convinces us to do so. The staff is rude and unaccommodating. The posted rules are selectively enforced, such as speed limits and vehicle parking regulations. Very few sites have grass, as most are mud. The sites are large. The planned activities are nice. We won't be returning unless there is a change in management. We camped at Sleeper State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Very nice family friendly campground. Lots of walking and bike trails. Walk to Lake Huron over highway overpass was very nice. Beach was very rocky, so swim shoes are a must. It was only rocky about 25 to 30 feet out, then nice sand with a few big rocks. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and there was never really a wait for the shower. Our site was along the highway, but it was not to noisy at night. The campground is very shaded with lots of trees. Nice trip. We camped at Sleeper State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Electric only but one of the best Michigan state parks there is. Great beach, day use area, large sites, and a great halloween program every weekend in October. We camped at Sleeper State Park in a Motorhome.
