I called and booked our site 8 months ahead, asking for an "easy to access" site. We were assigned Site 3, water/electric only. When we checked in, we were told they needed to change us to Site 13. The map showed this would be a tight fit. We were told of several alternate sites. All of them were also difficult to access. Thinking that they needed Site 3 for a string of campers together, we made do. The electric and water outlets were right along the road. We're lucky we carry extra hoses and cords or we would have been out of luck. But with little room to maneuver, trying to miss hitting the outlets was another problem. We needed to exit out the entrance road. Later that night we saw Site 3 was unused as well as 2, 4, and 5. First thing the next morning, same thing. WHY, on a weekday, cram us (21 ft) along with several others the same size into tight fitting, NO WIFI, long distance to the showers, etc. and leave the other sites empty? Why lie to me and say they REALLY NEEDED Site 3. Would I go there again? NO WAY!! Not happy here at all. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Copper Harbor is awesome and this is the campground to enjoy it all. The state park which is nearby is nice, but doesn't have full hookups. The campsite itself wasn't the most scenic but it was extremely convenient and extremely well maintained. They have a large building with baths and showers for tent campers and it has a gathering room with a fireplace which would have been lovely for a rainy day. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Grassy back-in site with the water and electric located up by the road on the left. The cable tv and sewer are in the back of the site on the left. We drove it as a pull-in site. Others backed in. Because of the time of year the CG was not near full. We had excellent internet access. The small lake was directly across from us. It's a pretty area with Lake Superior just down the street and walking/biking paths closeby. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Mountain biking is very popular here. Scenic driving along the shore road with destinations of Eagle Harbor and Eagle River. There are many spots to pull off.

Fort Wilkins State Park. Delaware Mine tour. Central Mine historic area. Eagle Harbor historical society museum at the lighthouse. The Marina Historical Society Eagle Harbor. There is a beach at Eagle Harbor. Brockway Mountain Drive. Several small county parks along the shore road of Lake Superior. Hiking trails throughout the area. Gift shopping in Copper Harbor. Jam Pot Bakery near Eagle River sells thimbleberry jam. You can try a pasty from the U.P.

We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely go back. The Good: Very clean campground with well maintained facilities. The bathrooms, club house, and laundry were dated but clean. It is very quiet especially at night. Our site was fairly level. It is walking distance to town and several restaurants. WiFi signal was strong and reasonably fast most of the time. There is no Verizon signal. However, we were able to get texts through WiFi. The flies and mosquitoes were not bad at this time. The Bad: Full hook up water and electric are shared with your neighbor. So half the FHU sites had hoses and wire across their site. Sewer attachments were all on the driver's side and high on several sites making emptying tanks cumbersome. The dump station is across the street but didn't smell and was not used often. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Drive down M-26. It is a beautiful and twisty road. The Jampot and several waterfalls are on this road. Brockway Mountain Drive is a must too. Most of the restaurants are mediocre and expensive. Harbor Haus is the best one in Copper Harbor. There is no grocery store in Copper Harbor. The general store has a small amount of groceries. The nearest pharmacy and grocery store is in Calumet which is about 45 minutes away. The Quincy Mine tour was interesting.

Overall Rating:

First Impression: Clean, sprawling layout with sections for tents, smaller TTs, and larger rigs. Big rig section puts units rather close. Smaller rigs and tents get forest privacy. Safety: no concerns. Access: Into Copper Harbor on US-41 (narrow; needs resurfaced). Turn right at blinking red light, go to 2nd Street, turn right into the campground. Access road in good condition, good signage, GPS took us right in. Office: Clean and presentable, friendly staff, token store with fishing gear, some RV essentials, souvenirs, no snacks or food. Soft drink machines outside office and more in rec room. No price discounts. Credit cards accepted. Call for reservations. Facilities: No pool, spa, or fitness room. Rec center with TV, sofas, pay electronic games. Small, clean laundry room. Restrooms/showers have aging fixtures but extremely clean. Shower privacy is curtains only (score "A-"). Propane sales. Nice playground. No off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. Roads are dirt/gravel with gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. Big rig friendly. Prevosts won't have problems. Numerous tent areas, no yurts, a lodge (motel) and cabins. Sites are all back-in, mowed grass, sufficiently level. Water and 30A at front of site, sewer at rear (needed two stinky tubes). Low water pressure with a strange after-taste. Sewer pipe is 3" threaded, about 3-4" above ground level. No patios. Nice picnic tables. Fire rings at ground level. Good satellite views. Free cable TV; no OTA channels. Free Wi-Fi with good coverage and bandwidth. Copper Harbor has no cell towers. No railroad, aircraft, or traffic noise. No recycle bins. WARNING: this is bear country (none seen). Bug Report (mid June): few ant mounds visible. Gnats, serious biting flies and mosquitoes, few bees. Runners: Main road, asphalt, good for running, no fitness room so no treadmills. Yoga: Low cut grass "OK" for your mat. Conclusion: Few amenities make this campground pricey. A good destination for boaters and ATV-ers. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Copper Harbor is at the end of the earth, a finger sticking out into Lake Superior, the end of US-41 coming up from Miami (1990 miles away). Small, rustic, picturesque. No national restaurants. No fast food chains. No traffic lights. One main road. Local hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, nice mini-golf, golf and disc golf courses 1 mile away, Fort Wilkins State Park, a "General Store" has food, snacks, camping supplies, minimal hardware, and an ATM. Everything is expensive.

The sites were grass but fairly level. Some required a bit of maneuvering around trees. There were four large class A motorhomes there while we were there along with our two fifth wheels and the spacing between sites was adequate. Not spacious but definitely not tight. The sites with full hookups back up to the road but it is not heavily used. We were early in the month so we beat the crowds and black flies, but mosquitoes were terrible. Definitely need to use bug spray if you want to be outside. I thought the price was a bit high but there isn't much competition in the area. Grounds are lovely and well maintained. Lots of trees and a lake. They have clean toilets and showers, laundry facilities, a game room, and a playground. You can rent canoes and boats, and it's an easy walk into town. Very quiet spot. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

What a clean and convenient campground. The owner gives a full run down of sites around the area, the bathrooms are immaculate, the price is reasonable. Nice lodge building. WiFi was weak, but that is about the best you can get up in the UP. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Truck Camper.

Park has an excellent lake access. Park is positioned for a great trail to Fort Wilkins. Park is located only a few blocks from restaurants, gift shops, and a bakery. The area does not have cell phone coverage but their small motel has an easily accessible pay phone on the first floor. The campground also has free WiFi. The front part of the campground has a building where there is a very clean laundry area and a recreation area with a few video games. The sites for motor homes are fairly level and the back portion of the park have excellent wooded sites for tenting with electric at most sites. The dump station is easy to use in the front center portion of the park. There is a small store with some camp items at the check-in desk. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

We were there for three days, parked in a real close row across from the bath house. Good things were the wifi comes from the bath house so it was good and the showers were handy. The park is two blocks from town so easy to walk or bike there. In the back, on the other side of the creek, there are well spaced wooded sites. Not sure if they are seasonal or not. There is a lake across the road, still in the park with a swimming area. Warning: the town has little cell service. I could not get ATT even where ATT says it is available. If you want a full hookup site north of Houghton, this is it - thus the price. Sites are wide enough and long enough. Hookups are a bit odd in that there are connections for 2 sites on one post. Our sewer connection was on the correct side, but water and electric required long hose and cord to reach across the site and to the front. Water and 30 amp electric (the best they offer) worked fine. WIFI is free, but slow. Cell phone (Verizon) is non-existent. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

As a frequent visitor (never in an RV) to Copper Harbor over the years I was looking forward to our visit here since I had not been to the Lake Fanny Hooe resort in over 15 years and never been there in the summer. This area (and campground) is stunning in the summer. The campground has a great mix of full, partial and primitive camping lots. There are just 8 full hookup sites so reserve early if you want sewer. The campground was well groomed and very...community-like. The campsites are in in a semi-circle with a newer playground set in the center. The clubhouse is right next door and had plenty of tables if you wanted to escape the elements or gather with others. There was not much else in the clubhouse but it was clean and everything in good shape. The restrooms were always clean. Showers were nice with good pressure and always clean too. My only complaint would be the wi-fi. Granted, many go here to get away from it all but there's no cell service or internet in town. The wi-fi worked so long as few were using it. It was unusable when everyone was at their sites. I'm not lowering my rating since I know they always had good signals to the routers, but the overall bandwidth for everyone in the campground was too low. I sync'd my email a couple times a day. It's tough to get good internet up there! The check-in experience was great because the man suggested many things for us to check out during our visit. His advice was spot on for us and we're looking forward to a longer stay up here in a year or two. I do think that $55 a night is a little pricey for 2 adults and 3 kids ages 4, 9 and 11 but this was a great destination in a remote area! We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The town and the location are the draw and the park is what it is. Hookups are all over the place so when you make your reservation make sure you can handle what you are getting. Many sewer hookups are uphill, many sites are not level, electric may be way at the front of the site or mid-way. Electric (30 amp) worked well. The bathrooms are large and very clean. Walking distance to town. Lake is very close. No cell service at all. Wifi worked only part of the time and when it did it was very slow. You are off-the-grid around here. Great hiking trail starts at the resort. Satellite dish connected fine. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Terrific campground. Best of our entire 8 day trip to the Western Upper Peninsula. Great accommodations, very clean and well maintained complex. Really close to town. Won't consider staying anywhere else in the area on our next visit. The kids enjoyed the game room and the playground and we all liked the convenience to Copper Harbor. Much more space than the State Parks we stayed in. Worth the extra money. We camped at Lake Fanny Hooe Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.
