Overall Rating:

Wonderful small park owned and cared for by a great couple. We had a waterfront site with a really nice view of the bay and freighters going by. Almost every site has a great view of the water. There is a place to launch a boat and park your trailer if you fish. Kayaks can launch from the shore or ramp. There is no bath house, laundry, game courts, playground, or any frills like that but none are needed. The serenity and peacefulness are just what we were looking for. We stayed three days and had plans of taking day trips around the area but the quiet of the park was so nice we never left. Be sure to make a reservation and call ahead for the gate code or you wont get in. Great experience. We will be back again for sure. We camped at Paradise Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a small 14 site rv park with full hook up site. The owners are very friendly and a joy to talk too. Must sure you are on the water with views of the shipping lanes. You can boat right from your site with a kayak canoe or boat. There are no restrooms or beach areas but there is a very nice walk out dock which you can fish from or launch a kayak from. We will be returning to this park. We camped at Paradise Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a no frills campground. 14 total sites all with full hook-ups. No bathhouse, restrooms or store. No office, but you can buy firewood on the honor system. What you get: peace and quiet. Tranquility abounds out on the paradise point. Watch the big freighters pass by like ghosts on the water. This is a cash only campground. The WiFi is actually very good. Enjoy the Eastern most point of Michigan in this tiny gated piece of paradise. We camped at Paradise Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very small campground with only 14 sites. No sites are pull-thru. Some sites are more private than others. The big-rig view-sites were designed for Class A's to pull in so they'd have the view out front. The sites work fine for 5th wheels but the hook-ups will be on the door-side so you have to run everything under your rig. This worked okay for us except it made dumping difficult. It's a beautiful and peaceful place with nothing to do but relax, read and fish. No wifi but our Verizon hotspot worked fine. Not a good place for young children. As mentioned by others, be sure to get reservations before driving up as you'll have to back down the narrow road if you can't get hold of the owners to get the gate code. Owner answered texts quickly but they run a business elsewhere so are not always instantly available. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Paradise Point RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Very small grocery in Detour carries basic items (but no soymilk). Bigger grocery in Cedarville 27 miles away. Recommend bringing everything you need so you don't have to make a 54 mile round trip.

Beautiful new park on a small bay on the St. Mary river. Most sites, some pull-in, some back-in, offer views up the bay onto the main river. Ore boats can be viewed making their turn around Lime Island. Big rig friendly. Our site was huge, providing ample room for our 38' 5th wheel. Full hookups and firewood for sale. I had Dish Satellite and good Verizon on my site. Owner rebuilt a small marina to include a couple of docks and a boat launch. Campground is quiet and natural. No outdoor lighting obscured our nighttime star viewing. As mentioned, gated access so reservations required. Owners replied promptly to texts and emails when coordinating reservations and access. Bring your canoe or kayaks as the campground area would be perfect for either. Will camp here again. We camped at Paradise Point RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Really lovely small RV park. The only thing I would highly advise is to make sure you have reservations before you visit. There is a gate up on a fairly narrow road and if you drive up without reservations and no one is there, your only coarse of action is to back your rig up... Not good for larger rigs with tows. Not impossible, but not good.

Adjacent sites, measured by me, were 65' and 70'. Full hookups and firewood for sale. I had Directv and great ATT on my site. Tips for other Campers:

Detour is a real quiet part of the UP. We found it very different from the Soo and Munising. The small town was very appealing without having to live like Grizzly Adams or fight other RV'ers for a first come/first service no reservation campspot.

First, we did not stay here. We visited the campground while we were staying in Cedarville. This would be a great place to stay if you want to stay in a secluded, quiet waterfront site with and abundance of wildlife. We saw two pairs of nesting swans during our visit. The parking pad for a rig is hard-gravel, surrounded by well maintained grass areas. We met the very friendly owner who lives next door. She and her husband recently built the campground. I believe about 6 sites are waterfront and in the open while the remaining ones are in a wooded area. We would consider staying here in the future. Not a problem for a 33' motorhome but might be challenging for anything over 37' long. We camped at Paradise Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

New campground on private point on Sweets Bay, north of DeTour Village. Full hookups only, no bathrooms or showers available. Good electric and water hookups. Some sewer hookups allow Class As to pull head in for a view. Gated park at end of narrow road, reservations only as no turn around in front of the gate. Shallow bay but access to Saint Mary's River. Able to put our canoe in the water and follow the channel out. Two docks rebuilt so far. Boat ramp. Wonderful wildlife when we visited - bald eagles, sandhill cranes, snipe, swans nesting, deer, blue birds... Sites are mostly level with a view or with privacy. Our Verizon cell wouldn't work in Campground but understand AT&T does work. Was able to connect with Wi-Fi and cell in town and up the road on Sweets Point. (Deducted 1 point for that since we didn't know). Firewood on sale for $4 - self serve, a nice bundle. Hated to leave - want to go back. We camped at Paradise Point RV Park in a Motorhome.
