There are 32 sites for tent and small trailer use. The campground is located on Spring Lake with an access canal to Fife Lake, which is an "all sports" lake. Here you will find some good fishing. You can catch Bass, Walleye, Pike, Bluegill, and Sun Fish. On Fife Lake there is water skiing, Jet boating, and there are pontoon boat rentals in town. At night you can watch the fireflies twinkle in the darkness whilst listening to the calling loons and owls. If you're into bat watching the East end of Fife Lake is the place to go. This rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from a well VIA hand pump. As in all Michigan State campgrounds, sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are no reservations. In some cases there is seasonal availability. The nearby Manistee River offers habitat for a large concentration of ducks and geese as well as bald eagles. You can spot deer, wild turkeys, river otters, raccoons. There are at least two pair of nesting bald eagles near the lake and you can watch them soar over the lake, fishing for their food. There is boat ramp access at the campground to Spring Lake which connects to Fife lake and there's a public launch ramp in Fife Lake, about two miles around the lake from the campground. Fife Lake enforces "No Wake" hours on boats. There is one supermarket in Fife Lake with a small party store right on the lake with a dock. Manton is about ten miles south with additional shopping. Both Fife Lake and Manton have reasonably priced restaurants. The Fife Lake Inn has daily specials and you can dock your boat across the road in the city park which also has a nice beach. Both towns have special Events: Fife Lake has "The Best Fourth in the North" 4th of July Celebration. Manton has their Harvest Festival on Labor Day weekend and a Car Show in April. Thirty miles to the North is Traverse City with it's Cherry Festival and air show during the week of July Fourth. We camped at Spring Lake State Forest Campground in a Tent Trailer.
