The rate is for a 30 amp and does not reflect the required day pass or annual pass at $31 each for motorhome and towed vehicle. As previously noted, there is not a dump and there are only pit toilets. The good news is that they are actively constructing a dump station and modern restrooms. The way this campground is laid out with power pedestals and fire pits and picnic tables, it is very difficult to tell where your campsite begins and ends. We saw one confrontation between two campers regarding fire pit "ownership." Some sites are very close together. Campfire smoke was very bad. It is mostly wooded but we were able to find a small hole in the trees to get satellite with our portable dish. We did not have any Verizon cell voice or data, even with our booster and antenna. There is WiFi, with the best location being at the entrance station parking area. We would not stay at this park again, but would stay elsewhere and visit the historic site as a day trip. We camped at Fayette Historic State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The reason to stay here is to visit the historic Fayette village site. It is well done and certainly worthwhile.

You don't stay at Fayette campground for the amenities. There are no showers, dump station, or restrooms (pit toilets available), so arrive prepared. Thankfully, there is 30 amp electrical service. Surprisingly, the campground was busy. We stayed one night on a Sunday, and upon arrival at noontime, check in said they had a full campground on Saturday night. The campground is very wooded and backing our 30' motorhome took an extra few moments but was doable. I swore I would not be using the pit toilets during our stay, but they were not half bad. Hubby did not have satellite TV reception for the night because of the trees, but he did survive!

There was a limestone rock beach just down the hill from our campsite, which was very relaxing spot to read for a couple of hours. The main reason for our stay was to tour the Historic town located here, which is a photographer's dream location. Many buildings have been restored, and the town is located on a quiet cove with limestone cliff lining one side of the water. There are hiking trails and an informative Visitors' Center. We camped at Fayette Historic State Park in a Motorhome.

Ice cream at the gift shop was $1.50 a scoop--what a deal!!! There was a good selection of flavors, and it was an excellent dessert after dinner.

The campground is nicely laid out, spaces generally reasonable. #30 is a pullthrough, but trees limit its utility. Several sites are not sufficiently level for a Class A though fine for tent/popup/trailer. No shower house (only vault toilets) and no flush toilets. Electric at each site. Faucet to fill tanks/containers available. There was NO Cellular coverage in the Lower Campground. 1/2 mile walk to the Historic town of Fayette. This was very fascinating and worth the trip. Free admission once you're in the park. We camped at Fayette Historic State Park in a Motorhome.

Rate is for 30 amp electric only. Gravel roads and sites. Self contained should arrive with full water and empty waste tanks, or at least room in the tanks for the planned length of stay. Big rig access is very tight. Many of the sites listed on the park website as suitable for big rigs have tight entries or exits, or low hanging branches. A fifth wheel during our stay took over an hour to get out their site with two rangers helping, so it is not a park for the faint hearten big rig owner. It's a great park for travel trailer, popup and tent campers. We loved our stay as the old town is great and would certainly return, but only if we could stay in certain of the big rig sites. We camped at Fayette Historic State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed for a single night just before Memorial Day. This is a nice place to visit since there's an abandoned 19th century town down by the harbor that's in the process of restoration by the state. The price is a little sporty for what you get: we had to pay an additional $6 single-day nonresident pass (in addition to the $18 overnight fee). Still, if you have some time to enjoy the restored town, this place is worth a visit. We camped at Fayette Historic State Park in a Motorhome.

Park is a really tight fit for our 38' coach. The roads are not kept up as well as they could be and they no longer spray for mosquitos, etc; The State of Michigan now tags on several fees for being from out-of-state, second car, etc; so the real cost is nearly $30 a night for a $12 a night type site. We were lucky that the spots ahead of us were empty when we needed to get out. If you are in a big rig, unhook before entering the actual campground area. Pit toilets, no showers, and no dump station as stated before. We camped at Fayette Historic State Park in a Motorhome.

This campground has no showers and only pit toilets. There is also no dumping station if you do use your own set up. All the sites are fairly small and big rig access might be difficult. However the historic town site is worth a visit and they have room to park the big motor homes in their lot while you visit. Plan on 3-4 hours to see most things and bring a lunch because there isn't anything nearby to stop at for a meal. We camped at Fayette Historic State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
