8 Parks near Hancock, Michigan
Jun 2016 - $30.00
One of my favorite campsites with great views of Lake Superior and sunsets. Spacious sites. Staff was very helpful and gave us extension cord as electrical
Boxes far away. Walk down to see lighthouse , easy drive to copper mines and around beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula. - IowaGirl
Sep 2013 - $26.00
Great state park on Lake Superior. Sunsets were amazing. Sites are level and spacious. Bring an extension cord as the power was 75 feet away from the site. They are improving the bathrooms, but the existing ones are clean with plenty of hot water. Staff and campground hosts were friendly. We stayed in site 82, two nights so that we could take a day trip to Copper Harbor. We cannot wait to return to this beautiful park. - Glory Bee
Aug 2012 - $26.00
We were disappointed to learn that we could only stay one night, as all sites were reserved for a music festival weekend. Only the camp sites on the lake have great views, and we would try to return for one of those sites. - AluminumCloud
Jul 2016 - $22.00
Limited sites with both electric and water. We selected a site for the view along the river and it only had electric. We had to fill our tank and watch our water usage so we would not have to hook up again over the 4 days to fill up again. The site view was great but quite far from the bathroom and shower.
The wifi was okay but very slow. They used to have cable because the connections are still at the sites but do not work. We had 2 over the air stations to choose from.
We would stay again but would go for a site with electric and water next time. - John Borajkiewicz
Sep 2014 - $20.00
This is a nice city park, lots of room and forested. Very reasonably priced for the area. Laundry facilities in the bath-house, had to look. Very convenient location to explore the area. - Legends Of America
Aug 2014 - $20.00
Sites are small, with overhanging trees on many. Campground is across a highway from a gravel pit, lots of heavy truck noise. Many unsupervised children on bikes, lots of locals cruising through, which is a scary combination. This park does not take any credit cards, a fact not disclosed on their web site. Also no confirmation of reservation, just verbal. We called & reserved a site with electric & water, found no sites with water available on arrival. Gate attendant was very rude and unfriendly. I cannot recommend this park to anyone and would not stay here again. - coolmom42
Jul 2016 - $35.00
Superb park with waterfront views at every site. Only problem is there aren't enough spots; we would have stayed more than two days if there had been a cancellation. Park so you have a view of the water, forward, backward, whatever. When arriving, do NOT turn at Houghton Canal Road: no park access despite the advice of some mapping programs. Lots to do in area but don't miss the Quincey Copper Mine tour ($19 for seniors). - Mtmoi
Jul 2016 - $35.00
The signage to the office is poor. When you turn in, do not stop at the first building. Go on down the road. The campground is terraced so everyone has a view of the water. Unfortunately it was designed as back-in sites so your windshield is not facing the water. Each site has a covered picnic table and another seating bench. The campground was quiet and we enjoyed our stay. We would camp here again. - Quilter99
Jul 2016 - $35.00
Site 15 is not level although all the other sites appear to be level. This site is pretty short and the rear tires will be off the ground if you have a big rig. Bring lots of boards to prevent that from happening. Large plants have grown up around the hookups, so you may need a saw also.
Although this park is over looking a river, none of the sites face the river. Be careful with directions getting here from some GPS units. You cannot get in from Canal Street. That is permanently blocked. As stated in the other reviews, this is a small park all paved in asphalt. One row is next to a road, so expect some noise. Wifi is fair. - pcmike
Jul 2016 - $35.00
Sunset Bay RV Resort is in a beautiful location. The road into the park is narrow and gravel, but we had no problems with our 40' fifth wheel. The roads inside the park are narrow and could be problematic for long rigs. The sites for RVs are not along the shoreline. All the shoreline sites are tent sites. Overall, a nice park in a beautiful part of the Upper Peninsula. - N9ID
Jun 2010 - $27.00
This campground is located on the shores of Lake Superior and has without a doubt one of the most beautiful and scenic views in the State of Michigan. The campground is clean and well run with the only drawback being no sewers; of course, there is a dump station. A real plus is the free WiFi: somewhat slow at times but overall a surprise in such a remote location. Shore power was good and drinking water was excellent. We stayed 3 nights and very much enjoyed our stay. Would rate it a 10 but felt I could not do so because of the lack of sewers. - leferen
Aug 2007 - $23.00
What a beautiful spot for a campground! All of the sites are a few seconds walking distance from the Lake Superior shoreline. You can walk as far as you want in either direction along the shore, - a rocky shoreline at the campground. Yes, the sunsets are beautiful. The washrooms are plain but very clean. The three shower units are self contained with toilet, sink as well as shower. The sites are acceptably level, relatively spacious and there are lots of trees. I was surprised and pleased to have wireless internet available. - Stan Wigg
Jun 2016 - $30.00
We stayed here in our 23' Class B MH - no slides or toad. When we pulled in, we thought we'd made a big mistake, because a long good gravel entrance road, then it was a bit dog eared - no attendant and we were greeted by a nice neighbor lady who pointed to the site we had been assigned via our telephone call. WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE PLACE! My wife found a super lode of Lake Superior rocks (on nearby lake shore)and could have spent hours filtering the stones, but kept just a few. Rest rooms and showers were neat and clean, but a bit cold (unheated) in the 55 degree temp at night and morning. Laundromat had 2 driers and 3 washers $2 per load (honor system). If you ever wanted to "camp" in a motorhome, this is the place! A rugged, but superb setting!
The owner drove by in his dune buggy like vehicle - we flagged him and paid him and got great advice on where to go when we headed to Copper Harbor. Our site had water and electric (30 amp) - I believe all were 30 amp. Place is named after its sunset and it is beautiful! We would stay here again. - KAZIMIRA
Sep 2013 - $30.00
The campground is about 8 miles from a small town with no services. You have to negotiate almost a mile of rough dirt road to get to the campground. Sites are very rough. No pads. Not even gravel. We were parked on grass. We were near the office and couldn't connect to the wifi. The lake is visible but only one site is actually on it. Road through the campground is dirt/gravel. Very narrow, be careful. There is an office with a number to call if you need something. Never saw anyone in the office. Restrooms rough. Only looked in after one had obviously been used. We were disappointed in the RV Campground given the reviews. Again, very rough and not well maintained. - chris4499
Jul 2012 - $33.00
Last year's reviewer pretty much hit it on the head. When we arrived, our reserved spot was occupied, but the owner put us in another OK. It is an old campground, but clean and scenic. We did not use the bathroom/shower, but when I checked one, the floor was soaked from all of the showers. The owners grandson tore around on an ATV: annoying, but otherwise quiet and serene. Good location for touring local sights. - renodick
Jul 2015 - $22.00
We stayed here for one night. Got a lakeside site with electric. It was wide, grassy, with table and fire ring. Lots of families and kids. Quiet at night. A bit of traffic noise. Would stay here again. - Wyboo
Aug 2005 - $19.00
Very nice and clean. Nothing like the last review. The locals were friendly and helpful. There is a resort next door were the kids rented a row boat for only $20.00 for all day. I would come back. - jmc
Jul 2016 - $20.00
Nice place to stay for a few days. The $5 coupon & free drink per person daily brings the actual daily charge down to zero, until you play the machines. They are not what I would call "loose". Although they advertise cable they don't have it. Could not get any channels on the antenna either. We stayed in site 11 and WiFi was good. Although they don't take reservations I have never seen this park full. - flnomad
Aug 2015 - $20.00
The RV parking sites are blacktop extending off the casino parking lot. We were on site 10 and it was level. Except for casino, restaurant and hotel traffic in the lot it was quiet. Every day they will give you a guest package good for $5 gambling and a free drink. Pretty good deal when it is only $20 a night to stay. After some rain sites 1 thru 4 had some standing water. Verizon and DirecTV worked well. Each site had its own trash receptacle. We stayed for 12 days. They don't take reservations but the 12 spaces never filled. We would definitely stay here again. - User1984
Aug 2015 - $20.00
As detailed in other reviews, this park is parking spaces off to the side of the main parking lot. Full hookups are provided with most sites having 30 amp electric. Also note that utilities are oddly placed with some on left side and the next site would be on the right side. - lllkrob

Sep 2015 - $20.00
Excellent views of the bay at Sand Point just on the North side of Baraga, MI at the lighthouse. All sites have 30 amp service but no water or sewer hookups. Dump station is available. Sites along the waterfront are $20/night and the inland sites (still a lakeview but across the road) are $15. Everything is first come first served. All sites are grass with a fire pit and picnic table. Roughly 2/3 of the sites are waterfront. There are very few trees except for a small grove of pines near the center of the waterfront sites. All roads are smooth and paved.
This seems to be a local secret since the state park nearby was quite busy but this gem of campground was nearly empty. When you enter, turn towards the marina to pay the manager. There is a house and a garage with a drop box for the registration papers, otherwise the manager will come to your site for payment.
There is a boat ramp and excellent spots at the lakefront sites to launch a kayak. Fishing is excellent around the marina plus there is a small pond near the rear of the campground. There is free Wi-Fi all around the park. Wi-Fi antennas are visible at several points. We got 2 Mb download speed but very few other campers in the park.
The website is old and outdated. There are many pieces of information that are not accurate as of 2015. The website says rates are $8 per night but it's $20. There are discounts for tribal members. Weekly rates are $100 per week on the waterfront and $65 for inland. - Craig H
