Overall Rating:

Great state park. Access to the entrance was excellent on state highways. The sites are fairly close but not crowded. Our pull through was paved and one of the longest we have stayed in. 50 amp, no water or sewer on site. There are trees throughout the park however it is generally open and you will see a lot of other campers from most sites. The interior roads are tight. One turn was challenging leaving inches between trees to manage for our 40' coach. Several branches hit the roof too. The dump station is convienent and had fresh water. The rest rooms were campground standard and clean. (Didn't use to see the showers). Beach is adjacent to both campgrounds and had a small camp store. The price reflects out of state surcharge and the mandatory passport expense. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Motorhome.

Lost lake Pathway is about 10 min dive north of the park. Excellent bike path through the woods. About 6 miles if you cover all the trails. Generally easy with some moderate inclines.

We stayed from Monday to Friday. Park was clean, quiet and beautiful. This was a mid September week and may not be as quiet in the summer. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We were looking for a campground close to Interlochen Center for the Arts so we could attend a concert and not have far to drive afterwards. We're self contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed on week nights in July.

This is a very nice campground and the perfect location for attending an event at the ICA -1/4 mile walk on a pedestrian path. The staff were friendly and helpful. The campground was clean and well maintained. There was no wifi. Verizon and ATT cell coverage were ok. Sites are electric only. There's a water and dump station at a convenient location. In general, the sites closest to the water were smaller and less level. Those in the back row were a bit larger and more level. Most sites had good shade. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a 4 day vacation at this location and ended up leaving early. The campground is poorly maintained and spent more time prepping our site to remove branches and twigs from the area. Previous campers garbage was found buried under a shallow leaf pile and the fire pit still smoldering. Bathrooms were hazardous with cracked concrete and tile. Camp rangers were not seen often like we have seen at other DNR campgrounds. Park amenities such as firewood are scarce. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Tent.

I am generally amazed at the quality of Michigan State Parks! Interlochen was no exception - very comfortable site. We stayed here as base camp to explore Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park and this worked just fine (Dunes were marvelous by the way). Roads in good condition at the park, sites level, good electric, and a strong cellular signal for internet access. Lots of people here so bathrooms did get a bit dirty between cleanings. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

"State Parks" all have several things in common - trees, usually narrow roads, close sites and lots of families with children. That said, we like them because they are "natural" and feel like "real camping". The smell of everyone burning wood in the fire pits, pine trees, children playing, birds singing, people laughing, it's all just so much more relaxed than at a "formal campground". The "down-side" is that you don't have TV, WiFi, and here, not even water or sewer hook-ups, but we enjoyed our stay, and you can't beat the nightly rate! (+don't forget the park fee or annual pass). This park is unique in that it is next to renowned Interlochen National Music Camp (c1928) that offer free concerts that you can walk right across the street to! From time to time they even bring in big name celebrities to preform that you can buy tickets for at very low prices. Pretty cool. It's a beautiful park with a lovely river running along side that a lot of the folks were enjoying floating down when were were there. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Some parks just have a peaceful feel about them and this was one. We felt relaxed as soon as we had setup. The park is clean, and restrooms/showers are newer and well-kept. The park has a small store, a boat launch, beach front, and a walking trail. We attended a free concert at the nearby Arts Camp. Decent shopping just down the road, and an easy drive to Traverse City if need be. Our Verizon air card had an excellent 3G signal. Our only downsides were constant sounds from the band camps going on, and the closest laundry was in Traverse City. All in all a very nice MI State park. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Such a nice park! We moved here from a private park with electric & water only for $34/night and no shade. This is much nicer even though it is electric only. Lots of tall trees! We camped here during the week and found it very peaceful. Nice swim beach on the lake, too. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fabulous campground, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Use the state website, select a site and enjoy your stay just like we did. We were very happy with the restrooms and showers, the best we have ever seen. We have a large travel trailer and the site was virtually impossible to get out without going the wrong way down a one way street. We loved all the things to do in the area. Sleeping Bear Sand Dune, Traverse City, the concerts at Interlochen, wine tasting, swimming in Lake Michigan, etc. I could go on but you get the idea. We will definitely return. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great State Park. Very clean restrooms & Showers. Nice Playground and camp store. Boat ramp to lake in campground. Shady sites in pine trees. Some sites are difficult to access for larger RVs. Beware of swimmer's itch if swimming in lake. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park, we've camped there a lot over the past 15 years. Big trees, good shade, you feel like you're in the woods. sites are close together, little if any privacy. Very busy on holiday weekends, make reservations for the best spots, while they have walk ons they are not the best sites, and might not be level. It can get loud and rowdy. Lake has swimmers itch. I would still recommend as Interlochen has grown over the years, and it's close to Traverse City. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We love to camp in state parks. Sites were decent size: except by the Lake. The sites we were on were all dirt with very little grass. Bathrooms/showers were muddy when it rained from everyones feet, but once the weekend crowd left and the rain stopped it was much better. The only complaint we had was that we chose the campground because of the lake but there really wasn't much of a place you could fish from. We stayed here and spent a day in Traverse City and a day at the dunes: nice location that is woodsy but close to what we wanted to do. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful campground with lots of shade and great fellow campers. Walking distance from the school and concerts. The only drawback is the lake. Horrible Swimmers Itch. Stay out. Take the time to drive into Traverse City and go to a city beach. Well worth your time. And actually, the nicest bathrooms I have ever seen in a campground. Great nature program for the kids too! We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Tent Trailer.
