Being that this was our first experience camping with our fifth wheel as a newbie, it was a very pleasant experience. The spots were spacious and level, with exception of the road construction on Cottonwood, it was easy access for big rigs. I never been to a campground as quiet as this one was. You could hear a pin drop at midnight. We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate is based on weekly stay. Check the website for directions if construction on Cottonwood is still ongoing. Owners and staff were friendly upon check in. This is a relatively new park and the owners are still doing things to improve it. There's easy access for big rigs. There are two sections to the park. The first section has a paved road around the loop and the sites are gravel. The second section has a dirt loop, and I believe the sites are also gravel. There are both back-in and pull-through sites available. Most sites appeared to be fairly level. Some sites have more space between them than others. All services worked as expected. This park is great for families. There's a pool, playground, and beach access, as well as the Grand Lady cruises. The shower/restroom building is quite nice and was clean each time we went there. My husband (6'2" tall) commented that it's the first campground shower he has used where the shower head was actually high enough for him to stand under it. (That might be due to the height of the owners.) There are two washers and two dryers in the same building as the showers/restrooms. There isn't a designated pet area, but there is plenty of space to walk pets. There were numerous OTA channels. Verizon data and cell worked well. We would stay again if passing through the area. We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Take a cruise on the Grand Lady. Shopping is nearby. In the event you're traveling with a pet and it needs a vet, we highly recommend Westwood Hills Animal Hospital in Grand Rapids.

This park is more for campers in for the weekend. There were several larger motor homes, too. Our site faced the river. The staff was friendly. We had to pay in full when we made the reservation 5 months ahead of time. The price was more than the site was worth to us. There was a lovely pool & laundry area that looked brand new. Enough room to walk the dogs. Nearby fast food restaurants. The horrible part about it was getting to the park. The main side road you take was under construction. Luckily we found a parking lot to pull into & got hold of the office for directions around the construction. Once we knew the route it was doable. I'm assuming the construction will be done in time for next season & this won't be a problem. We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This was a very nice and very quiet campground. It is far enough away from the noise of the city and highways, so the sleepability factor was a 10. It is very clean and well maintained and having a small river meandering past the CG was very serene and peaceful. Most of the CG's interior roads have been paved, but unfortunately the one going behind our site wasn't, so we had some residual dust from a constant flow of trucks that seemed to circle the park. The site was fairly level, but directly behind us was one of the two oil or gas rigs in the park which seemed to operate on an "as needed" basis. The noise wasn't loud, but it was slightly unusual to have one of these in our "back yard." We used the laundry (the machines take credit cards so we didn't need a handful of quarters), but there were only 2 washers and 2 dryers so there was a little waiting time. The only real negative was the Wi-Fi. The antenna must be in the laundry/bath house building (I could not see it on the roof), so there was no reception at our site. We had to drive or walk to the building to check our email and plan the next leg of our trip. In this age of relying on the Internet for everything, the Wi-Fi should have had a wider range in the CG. And there is currently road construction in the area, so getting to the CG was a little tricky. With our daily adventures out of the park, we learned the roads that bypassed the construction detours. We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is very peaceful, sitting right alongside the Grand River. Site was long, clean, and level. The pool was well used by the kids but we opted for kayaking on the river. It's easy to launch from the camp ground. Some sites are open but some are treed so you may want to call the campground to pick a site if you need a satellite friendly site. I used the automated reservation system and it put me on a site with trees so we had a problem with the satellite. The rig's antenna pulled in a dozen or so stations so we were able to still find something to watch once the bugs drove us inside. The only wifi is at the pool area with no plans to expand. We were close enough to the antenna that we were able to pull in the signal with our wifi amplifier, but I suspect most people will be relying on their phones. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and we will probably stay here again. We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed for one night to visit friends before heading up to Traverse City. It is difficult to reach the campground because of road construction this summer. Cottonwood Drive is closed between Baldwin Street and Bauer Road, making for a long detour to reach the park from I-96. To get to the park, we went east on Baldwin to 36th, north to Fillmore, then west on Fillmore to Cottonwood and then Taylor. All of this was big-rig accessible. To leave the park, we took Fillmore to 48th Ave north to Lake Michigan Drive, and then east to I-196. Again, big-rig accessible, but these detours are time consuming. Nice campground that is right on the Grand River. Check-in was easy, and the roads are easily navigable. 50 am power was stable, and the water pressure was average. No cable TV, no WiFi, and all the trees make it not satellite friendly. Our site was plenty long and level enough. Nice pool but we didn't use it. A bit pricey for what you get, but I would stay there again if in the area. We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Motorhome.

A really nice park on the Grand River, with nice long sites. Some sites are back-ins on the waterfront and pull-thrus in the outside row. The sites are gravel and level, with nice grass surrounding the RV. There is a mix of wide open sites and some that are shaded. The utilities were well located and perfectly working. Everyone at the park was friendly and the owners and staff are pleasant and very helpful. The beach along the river was somewhat under construction (the owner had just graded the rivers edge with new sand), but it didn't keep us from enjoying a walk along the river. The campground also runs a riverboat operation that offers some picnic and sightseeing cruises. We will definitely return to this campground next time we are in the area. We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Chose this campground for it's close proximity to Grand Rapids. My riverside site would have been awesome except heavy rains had the river flooding over its banks and the whole campground soaking wet. Roads and site drives were fresh gravel so no mud. Showers were immaculate and constructed for high use age and easy cleaning so I imagine they will stay that way. I liked that the individual showers were a full bathroom with toilet and sink area. Convenient hooks and sink shelf too. Brand new pool was sparkling clean, but weather too cold and rainy to partake. Lots of construction equipment around, tells me they haven't completed building everything. Once completed this will be a real gem. We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

It is right next to a very small airport, but it is small enough that noise was never an issue. Even with the close proximity to civilization, it still has that peaceful remote feel. The campground is situated right on the Grand River. They even have a huge riverboat, but unfortunately it had just shut down for the season so we didn't get a chance to ride it. The sites are very spacious and level. The entire campground was very well maintained and everyone we encountered was pleasant. When we arrived and started to level our 5er, we began to have a problem with our front left jack. It wouldn't move more than 4 inches. We were able to manually level the camper for our stay, but dreaded trying to get it back on the truck. When it came time to leave, I was struggling with the jack and a nice couple dropped by to chat. We discussed several things, including the jack problems, and they suggested reaching out to the campground owner for help. As it turns out, after they left, they must have told him about us, as he showed up minutes later offering to help. He ended up getting a forklift to help take some pressure off the problem jack so it could raise us up high enough. We really don't know what we would have done without him. Even the RV technician who had come out didn't have any suggestions for hooking it up (the part wouldn't arrive in time). We will definitely return to this beautiful campground next year! We camped at Steamboat Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
