The kids really enjoyed the park. Being a fall weekend, there were a lot fewer people that we're used to compared to when school is out. The sites were nice with some privacy, .except ours. There was a path to the restrooms that went next to our site and ran about 4 feet from our fire ring. The constant trickle of peopling going to and from the bathrooms made it awkward while we tried to sit around the fire eating a meal. Some of the smokers had no problem walking by exhaling cigarette smoke in our direction. The ranger station sold ice and firewood at reasonable prices; however, the firewood was wet even though it was stored in a shed. I have had this problem at all Michigan state parks. Their firewood distributor is selling them unseasoned wood. The second night, I drove a few miles down the road and bought good dry wood. Overall, this is a nice state park in a great location with lots of available activities. We will stay here again but will be sure to avoid site 94. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Park has paved wide roads with all sites paved. Most will accept big rigs and sites have vegetation isolating from most other sites. Power pole is shared and could be up to 100 feet away. Water is available in many areas of each of two campgrounds. Beach is very clean and convenient. Disc Golf course is in the park as are bike, hike, and horse trails. Park personnel were very nice and helpful. Only one person can use the dump at a time and could be a hangup on busy days. Restrooms were newer ones of Michigan state parks. We will return. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice shady park. The campsites may challenge the bigger rigs. Sites are paved but heavily surrounded by trees and shrubs. Power pedestals are not at sites, they are shared and can be anywhere from 25' to 100' away. Nice lake and beach. We travel with no kids, but we did notice they have a nice up to date play set near the camping and more equipment near the beach. Only marks off are for the slightly dated bathhouse. Typical for most Michigan State parks. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a big state park, a bicycle is recommended. 17 miles of singletrack for mountain biking. The park is well maintained. North campsites are at least 1/4 mile walk to the beach, south campsites are at least 1/2 mile. There is an equestrian camping area on site which is one if the largest in the area. Nice sandy beach area with pavilions and bbq's. There is also designated fishing areas and motor boat rentals. We stayed in the south campground, almost all sites have a good amount of privacy with plenty of trees and shrubs. All sites have level cement pads which is a bonus! Soda and ice cream machines at the bathrooms. Showers looked decent, however we did not use the public facilities. This is a good campground for outdoor enthusiasts. We would camp here again. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Very nice, well maintained campground. Roads are paved. All site pads are paved. Most sites are quite private, with parameter of the sites surrounded be trees or shrubbery, creating a nice sense of defined space. Can be a bit of a distance to the electric box (was about 75 ft in our case). Lots of nice hiking/biking trails, although a fair amount of tree roots on the trails (makes it a bit rough for casual biking -- better if have good trail-bikes). We camp quite a bit, and this campground seemed to have more than a usual amount of young families with small children (not that that's bad, just making an observation), which resulted in a lot of small children on bikes & battery-powered toy cars in the middle of the roadways. So always needed to be watchful. Campground has a nice, newer playground area, for the youngsters. Perhaps a 1/4 mile walk from campground to beach area. The beach area is sandy. Not a lot in the way of shade near the beach, as most of the trees appear to be newly planted. But there are a couple of pavilions at the beach area. They offer canoe & kayak rental as well, at the beach area. The lake is a "wake free" lake. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We've stayed here multiple times and really enjoy it. The grounds are well kept and the sites are wooded and relatively private. Some of the sites are connected, which makes for great family camping. Beware, however, that the online map is not accurate. Best to call and double-check if the sites are indeed connected. The bathrooms and showers are very outdated and did not appear clean. Would be nice to see soap in the bathroom and trash cans on the grounds. Lake is beautiful; beach was a bit muddy, but the kids have enjoyed it on previous trips. Consider making the drive to Uncle John's Cider Mill for donuts and cider. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Travel Trailer.

One of the best state parks in the MI DNR system. Well maintained and very clean. Most sites offer great privacy. The only drawback to us was that many of the electric pedestals are shared by multiple sites, and as a result, there are open areas where the sites intersect in the rear, and you may find yourself staring at other site picnic tables, tents or other views of adjoining sites that reduce privacy considerably. This is ok or even desirable if camping with other couples or family members. The beach is very clean, and the water was very inviting. We were here during a very hot spell, and even on a Saturday, the beach was not over crowded. Will definitely be returning. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Motorhome.

Very pretty campground! It was almost full during the weekend but nearly empty during the week. Their checking system is goofy! You have to drive around, select a site, go back to register and then hope your site is still available when you get back to it! If it's taken, then you start over! We had no phone service (AT&T) in the campground but found a place on the trail to the lake beach where we could connect. The fire pits are nice with the exception of having no grates on them for use in cooking. Each site was very private with shrubbery and trees blocking views of the next site. We enjoyed riding our bicycles around the campground but the "bike trails" are just grass and dirt. Since we had a lot of rain during the 6 days we were there, they were mud. It's a nice campground and we would return for another visit. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Although they list the sites as having big-rig access, they are but with difficulty. There are lots of trees and water fountains in the way. Park was very crowded. You need at least 50' of electric cord. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Motorhome.

We spent the weekend and really enjoy the campground. We saw no posion Ivy, but it might be here. Campground hosts were nice. We had a nice shaded site in the north camp. Plenty of room, lots of privacy. Came in Friday evening and we picked our site by driving around. Sites are mostly level and paved. Fire rings at each site. Lake not too good for swimming. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed on site 131 which was in the South Campground. It was across from the bathroom. Very private site. The only camper we could see was the one directly across the road from us. Definitely need 100 feet of electric cord. Pros: Secluded, shaded site. The North Campground did not seem to have as many secluded sites, but they were also larger sites. Lots of walking possibilities; throughout the two campgrounds and on the trails. Private rooms for showers - I liked that! Cleaning schedule for bathrooms adhered to. Cons: We were warned there was a lot of poison ivy, including at the campsites, so extreme caution was used, especially with our dog. Mosquitoes seemed abundant, even though it's been a dry summer. Bees around the campsite, although they seemed sluggish and did not attack, even when batted at! We will definitely plan to return. Enjoyed the quiet and the privacy of our site. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Nice paved sites, some with gravel patio areas. Long walk to the lake, which wasn't very nice for swimming because of all of the algae. Overall, a nice, quiet campground with clean facilities. Not crowded at all, with thick brush and trees between almost every site. Will camp here again. We camped at Sleepy Hollow State Park in a Travel Trailer.
