6 Parks near Lansing, Michigan
Jul 2016 - $32.00
We've been here Since July 1st and plan to stay until September 11th. The campground is in a lovely setting amid huge Cottonwood trees. Sure, there is no concrete pads, and not all sites are very level but it's a very pretty setting. My power has been consistently at or near 120 volts, the water is clean and so are the rest rooms and showers. The showers are cleaned twice a day. Power was steady. I blew a breaker one busy weekend when the temp was in the 90's and most everyone had AC on. Power came right back up. Pump outs are on demand. The pump out tractor makes it's rounds each afternoon. Pump outs are $7.00 Mon thru Fri and $10.00 on weekends. I thought this would be inconvenient and expensive but it was not. Sure, on a busy holiday weekend some of the campers are pigs and it gets a bit messy. The campground store and laundry are both excellent. The pool and game room are a nice added feature. The WIFI is strong when it's on. The staff is working on some of the bugs to make it more reliable, but it was on more than it was off. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We have already booked 4 months next summer. - Gene K
Jul 2016 - $35.00
One side of road to site had a hairpin turn, so took the longer winding way to site. Gravel streets, grass sites, large trees, rustic, only 3 motorhomes in park. Otherwise campers, tents, 5th wheels, trailers. It rained today, so mud and standing water. Direct TV and antenna would not work, and no cable. Paid $35 for a back in site on water. Was very unlevel, huge trees so no Direct TV or antenna reception. Free wifi. BUT 50 amps showed 110, so power is very weak. No sewer but a water facet that office said was drinkable water. No discounts offered, not even retired military.
Will not stay here again. - Oooooooo
Jun 2015 - $32.00
This is a rural style park in an urban setting. Lots of trees, lots of grass and ponds.
It was rainy when we were there but not necessarily muddy or inconvenient.
Things seemed reasonably clean. This is a no frills park other than what appears to be a nice pool that was being prepared for the season.
Yes, we would stay again if visiting Lansing. - Oldtymeflyr
Mar 2007 - $25.00
Dilapidated location. Office was not marked and was the first of many unattractive buildings. - tabber386
Sep 2005 - $28.00
This is an older park. The restroom facilities were in great need of updating and repair. They were not very clean either. The rest of the park, however was clean. The owners were very nice and helpful. - ScrapperJo
Jul 2005 - $28.00
This park is a big mobile home park with maybe 60 campsites around the small lake. It is very old and needs repair and upgrades in order to be called a compground. The electric is very bad and not enough current to run an air conditioner, in fact the electricity would shut down in our rig often due to low voltage. The people that run the campground are wonderful, friendly and warm family oriented willing to help in anyway they can. The water is very hard with lots of iron in it and all the hookups are very poorly located on the site, making connections to the rig hard and in some cases even have to be run under the rig. This could be a great campground, however it is not now and we can not recommend it. - racomarley
Sep 2016 - $20.00
The kids really enjoyed the park. Being a fall weekend, there were a lot fewer people that we're used to compared to when school is out. The sites were nice with some privacy, .except ours. There was a path to the restrooms that went next to our site and ran about 4 feet from our fire ring. The constant trickle of peopling going to and from the bathrooms made it awkward while we tried to sit around the fire eating a meal. Some of the smokers had no problem walking by exhaling cigarette smoke in our direction. The ranger station sold ice and firewood at reasonable prices; however, the firewood was wet even though it was stored in a shed. I have had this problem at all Michigan state parks. Their firewood distributor is selling them unseasoned wood. The second night, I drove a few miles down the road and bought good dry wood. Overall, this is a nice state park in a great location with lots of available activities. We will stay here again but will be sure to avoid site 94. - Brewstar
Sep 2013 - $19.00
Park has paved wide roads with all sites paved. Most will accept big rigs and sites have vegetation isolating from most other sites. Power pole is shared and could be up to 100 feet away. Water is available in many areas of each of two campgrounds. Beach is very clean and convenient. Disc Golf course is in the park as are bike, hike, and horse trails. Park personnel were very nice and helpful. Only one person can use the dump at a time and could be a hangup on busy days. Restrooms were newer ones of Michigan state parks. We will return. - dalenoel
Sep 2012 - $19.00
Very nice shady park. The campsites may challenge the bigger rigs. Sites are paved but heavily surrounded by trees and shrubs. Power pedestals are not at sites, they are shared and can be anywhere from 25' to 100' away. Nice lake and beach. We travel with no kids, but we did notice they have a nice up to date play set near the camping and more equipment near the beach. Only marks off are for the slightly dated bathhouse. Typical for most Michigan State parks. - buzzards27
Jun 2015 - $20.00
When we arrived this year (we have grandkids in the area), we found that one of the trees had fallen just a few days earlier and was less than 24 hours from when people were camping in that spot. We also found out that some or all of the others have tree rot.
This year, the regular camp host has quit and nothing is getting done ....
It's still $20 a night with less amenities
Enough is enough, we're out of here ! ! ! - magic
Jun 2014 - $20.00
Please note new rate. This is a basic park and the rates this year went up by 33% without any changes. No extra anything, just the same water every 6th space or so, 30 amp max, and some sites with only 20. We will stay here again, unless we can find something else in the area. - magic
Jul 2013 - $15.00
Water is scattered throughout, so long hoses are needed. For a few days, good place to stop. - PugetSound
Jul 2016 - $14.00
We chose this park because it was the closest one to family and friends we were visiting. On first approach, you think this park will be really nice. Flowers are planted at the entrance and the long drive from the road back to the campground is flanked by beautiful lawn. However, as you get closer you start to see run down, permanent rv sites - junk lying around - and overflowing dumpsters. They only have 2 dumpsters for the entire park; they need 4. There are some decrepit looking RVs in the park, but that's not really the problem. People live in what they can afford to live in. (There are a LOT of permanent residents here.) The problem is that park management apparently has NO rules whatsoever about junking up sites. Or they don't enforce any rules they do have. And don't even bother to go in the "bath house." one toilet and one shower stall. Very run down and not clean when we looked in. No 50 amp sites. Water pressure was decent. Some sites have picnic tables, some don't. Some sites have more gravel or grass on the site pads than others.
It's a real shame the park has been allowed to become so filled with unkempt sites, because the setting is quite nice: rural, lots of trees, huge expanses of grassy areas that are well kept. (Someone was mowing almost every day.) And we met some nice folks there. But, with so many junked up sites, we won't be back ... even at the low price of $100 for a week stay. (It's $25 a night for stays less than a week.)
I rated the value "satisfactory" because of the low rate for a week stay; but the adage "You get what you pay for" applies here. I rated "cleanliness" as bad because of the large number of unkempt sites and the poor restroom facility. - MelBtraveln
Jul 2015 - $20.00
The more we camp at other campgrounds, the more we love this one. Other than no full hook up, we do not have a negative word for them. The sites are large and easily accessible. There are activities for the kids and we feel safe letting our kids go off by themselves. The only other negative thing for us is the motorcycles on the trails, but the campground limits their hours so the noise is only for a few hours on certain days. - Goody61865
Sep 2010 - $10.00
Nice Park. Very Friendly! No problem parking my rig, I asked to be escorted to the site. This place very well managed and workers were very attentive. Live music was a plus and bathrooms redone from last year were great. If I were to mark them down for anything, it would be the lack of friendliness of the front desk staff. Would like to see wider roads, but everything is headed in the right direction. Will stay again. - Nipit
Aug 2009 - $1.00
We stayed under our ROD membership free. It's a decent CG. Site was a grassy back-in plenty long enough for the 37' 5W and truck. Were able to use rooftop dish after a little positioning. Many sites are in the trees. There are 2 outdoor pools with plastic liners and their bottoms were bumpy. Our Sprint phone and air card needed the outside antenna and amp to work. Our friend's Verizon service didn't work. - big greg
