Could not have picked a nicer place to stay when we had an early departure on the SS Badger! We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is the nicest place we've stayed in so far in our 2 months of full time RV travel. We usually look for budget-friendly places, but we were in town for my cousin's wedding and this was a super convenient location. $38 per night is the off-season rate. The park is very large with many amenities. Good wifi, indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs, walking paths, very clean restrooms and showers, nice park employees, and quiet atmosphere (again, this is an off-season review). Nearly $50 to fill two 30lb propane tanks. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were very pleased with the amenities, cleanliness and customer service. We appreciated that they have a separate adult pool as well as a family pool, and they were heated. We will definitely be visiting this campground again. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Poncho's Pond is magnificent. Pristine grounds, bathrooms and individual sites. Staff is friendly and incredibly accommodating. You are guided to your site and firewood delivered. Sites are long with more than enough space no matter the rig size. Easy connection on power and sewer. The owners live on the property. It is clear they take great pride that this is their home. We booked our stay for next year before leaving. Close to Lake Michigan activities and sightseeing. Sleeping Bear National Shoreline is 2 hour ride on the shores and dunes of Lake Michigan. This is an exquisite place to stay and enjoy the glories of The Great Lakes. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a huge but beautiful campground. The sites, ponds, landscaping, pools, etc. were second to none. Would have given this place a 10 but for two reasons: first, the entrance is marked by a sign that sits higher than normal next to a flooring business and it is easy to miss. We, along with others, did miss it and had to backtrack. Second, the streets are not named or numbered and we had to circle the park 3 times when we came back from dinner in the dark. We had our site map with us but could not see the site numbers without getting out of our vehicle and walking onto people's sites. To make matters worse some streets are one way but are not marked as such on the map. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit downtown Ludington, Big Sable lighthouse and Ludington North Pier Head Light. Walmart is very close to the park. Try Kountry Kubbard for breakfast - good food and price. Turn right out of the campground and left at the light. It's on the right, right after the turn.

We got off the Luddington Ferry (The Badger) and drove about 2 miles to the park. It is in an industrial area, but once you drive in, you are in a beautifully maintained, luscious green park with a lake and lots of room. Excellent customer service, strong wifi and we were happy. Quiet. Level. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Park staff was extremely friendly and very help full. Campground was very clean and we had a spacious site for a private campground. Our grandkids camp with us once a summer and they both felt this was the best campground they have stayed with us so far. They can't wait to go back to Poncho's Pond. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This one of nicer RV campgrounds we have stayed at. The park is well maintained and the facilities are immaculate. While there are many seasonal campers it is hard to tell with everything being so well maintained and consistent. Many sites have good satellite access and my Verizon LTE signal was strong. Will definitely return and would request to be in the newer 300 series section. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park located a few miles out of the city; but not worth the $50/night price tag. We were visiting friends and chose the location as it was near to their home. Several sites are paved, others gravel. All appeared to be level. The park is clean and has swimming pools and lots of activities for families. This is one of the better places to stay if visiting the area. We were not bothered by the trains; didn't hear anything during the night. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is one of those campgrounds you don't want to mention how outstanding it is, so that it won't be even more difficult to get reservations.

But, I'm just too nice a guy to hog it all to myself (besides, folks are already pretty familiar with it... it was packed), and I've got to give credit where it's due. This place is awesome. Beginning with the conversation to make reservations, to check-in, thru our stay with all the family friendly activities; it's obvious this place is superbly managed and maintained. All the basics are covered: clean pools, clean work-out facility, clean laundry, clean bathrooms, manicured grounds. Then there's stuff that goes above and beyond like: a handicapped accessible chair for the pool, a 'never-ending-pool' propulsion for swim exercise, daily garbage pick-up at the curb, and a kiddie water sports night with bouncy slip'n'slide and water sports.
The only negative I can give it is just a personal preference. We like woody lots with privacy. There isn't much foliage or trees in and around the lots.
Right outside downtown Ludington, and only 10 minutes from the State Park. Highly recommend. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is an update to our July, 2013 review of this park. We've noticed several complaints about the nearby railroad. The tracks run along the south edge of the property, and the trains go (slowly) into a rail yard a mile or more to the west. There is NO through train traffic on these tracks. We have not heard the trains running at night, and we do not consider an occasional daytime toot objectionable, particularly considering all the amenities this park has to offer. Further the only other really decent park in the area is located directly east of this park and has the same railroad tracks along the south edge of their property as well. If you feel the trains could be an issue ask to be placed away from the trains when you make your reservation. They will do their best to accommodate you. Also we previously noted that the park cable TV included several HD channels. This has changed. Apparently the park has changed cable TV providers and the current channel lineup does NOT include any HD TV. Note that there is no local over the air TV available so that is not an option for quality HD TV. Also the park wi-fi has improved substantially and works well most of the time, with the exception being around the dinner hours when everyone is online. We've also seen complaints about the lack of trees in the park. Not sure where that comes from as about half the park is fairly heavily wooded with the other half mostly in the open. Just let your preference be known when you make your reservation. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out downtown Ludington, and the city beach as well as the beaches along M-116 out to the Ludington State Park. Also suggest downtown Jamesport, and great local brew-pub with some outstanding food and Ice Cream couldn't be better at the downtown House of Flavors.

This is a very nice campground, the staff is very friendly, and helpful. We stayed here while we were in Ludington fishing. My only complaint is they didn't like it when we cleaned our fish on the picnic table, LOL just a joke. We will come back. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park, super clean restrooms, indoor pool was really nice. However, backing up to the park is a railroad track and it is a railroad switch yard! The noise was terrible. Fortunately the trains didn't switch cars at night so between 11pm and 9am you will only hear the occasional train go by and an occasional whistle. According to the owners, the train noise was an issue the entire summer. A real bummer. Otherwise this park would be a 10. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We were here for a rally ($40). This is a special resort, super clean and neat. The staff goes all out to accommodate the guest at the park. This would be a top pick for the State of Michigan. Lots to do in Ludington. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a class "A" park. It should be listed under resorts. The staff is the greatest. I never asked a question they could not answer. The park is very clean and well maintained. The daily rate is $50.00 but if possible, pay the extra $3.00 and get a super site. We will always stay here when we are in the area. We camped at Poncho's Pond RV Park in a Motorhome.
