We lucked up and got a very large site in this huge campground. There was good vegetation to seperate sites on our row which was one row over from the Lake. The park has one mile of shoreline on Lake Michigan. They offer discount tickets to the Mackinac Island Ferry.
Solid utilities but we could not get satellite and there is no cable. We did get 2 or 3 over the air stations but the signal was weak and not dependable. Other sites could get satellite so it just depends on your location. Other utilities were solid and good Verizon 4G. Mostly paved roads and level gravel sites. Nice for biking and walking. Nice areas along the lake front for camper use. Mackinac Island and the bridge are clearly visible. No well defined places for pets so you just have to find a good spot for them to "go". Many activities including fire engine rides, putt putt, pool, and playgrounds for the kids. We would stay here again. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Biking distance to town and the ferries to the island.

We loved it here. There are a ton of things to do - hay and fire truck rides, pool, beach, arcade, bikes, etc. The camp store is large and well stocked. The campground is very wooded for a private campground which is unfortunately not the norm. The lake and bridge views were beautiful. The Star Liner ferry had two shuttle stops inside the campground and they were very accommodating. I would have given it a 10 except our "extra large" site that we paid extra for wasn't any bigger than most of the regular sites. Also, our site had poison ivy in it which they addressed very quickly. It looks like they are making some updates too. Overall, we will go back. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

This is a huge campground with many family oriented activities. We spent three nights here and found it to be adequate for our needs. There was easy access to a well groomed bike path which allowed us to pedal to Mackinaw City. The campground also provides a shuttle service to the Mackinac Island ferry and discounted tickets. Unfortunately, all garbage has to be carried to the front office dumpsters, which can be a very long walk if you are at one of the more distant camp sites. The owners should consider investing in a better garbage hauling service, as the dumpsters were overflowing on a Wednesday. Also, the WiFi connections and internet service, provided by Tengo, did not work at all during our three-day stay. We most likely would not stay here again. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Great park for family with children. We just stopped overnight. The park is huge. It would be helpful if they had someone lead you to your site. It is possible to get lost in the park. Good lake view. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Our site was very nice, spacious, and clean, with some privacy from our neighbors. They have gravel roads, and campsites are on grass/dirt (sand). We didn't use the showers or restrooms, but the one we checked was clean. The place is like a maze, the roads wind around, and there are tall trees so you can't really see where you are. They have signs posted so you can wind your way to your site pretty easily. The reason I down graded the service was because as big as this place is, and the way the roads wind around, they had no one to lead you to your site. It was sort of overwhelming following their map to your site. But we made it with no problems, and was able to get in & out during our stay without getting lost. Our site was pretty level, also it was open enough that we could have used our satellite if we'd put it out. But it didn't look like you could have at all sites. They sell tickets for the ferry to Mackinaw Island at the camp store, and there is even a free shuttle with 2 stops in the park to the ferry dock. They pick you up at the campground, and are waiting for you when you get off the ferry to take you back. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are a lot of things to do in Mackinaw City. We did a lot of sight seeing, and spent one day at Mackinaw Island. Mackinaw Island is beautiful, but expensive! Meals are costly, but it was worth it!

Check-in was orderly and fast. Checked in on July 1 and that was the only day that the Wi-Fi worked in the 6 days I was there. Complained to staff in store and she said they were aware and have trouble with it. Sorry. So many campers that it overloaded system. Our site was nothing but dirt and weeds. Was not anywhere near the rating Good Sam gives it (but then they never are). Will not go back to this park. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Stayed on a bridge view site, great view! Some sites can be a little close, but they try to get you a site thats fits your needs. Level gravel pads. We had 30 amp service, but it was more than adequate. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

We had a great view of the bridge. The spots along this road are very packed in though.

Also there were groups that would take over the shared fire pits on the lake across from our spot.

The pool was nice but not nearly big enough for the number of campers there. It was good incentive to find a beach though (recommend Mackinaw City Beach).

Overall a very nice campground. But it is very busy. Something like 800 or so spots, so you can imagine. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in Mill Creek last year in June and we were less than thrilled. We gave it another go this year because there didn't seem to be anything better in the area and we hoped that the peak-season experience would be better.

The highs are that the views this campground offers are spectacular. There is a long stretch of grass along Lake Huron with a full view of the Mighty Mac. There are community fire pits spaced out and an evening along the shore offers wonderful views. Another high for me was this place was packed and there was a lot of fun energy in the park. It was pretty well booked with everything from tents to motor coaches.

The lows are about the same as last time. There doesn't seem to be much pride in the details here. The playgrounds are older than dirt (although freshly painted), every picnic table and wooden post in the park needed replacement 10 years ago and the sites are terribly narrow. The pool (closed last year for painting, unbeknownst to us) was open...but awful. One small pool for this massive campground. It was dirty and was overcrowded to the point of the "Caddies Only" pool scene in Caddyshack. Our site (210) had branches growing from an old stump that were taking up a good portion of the small space we had to sit outside so I trimmed things up with a hatchet.

This park is fine if you're simply looking for a home base from which to explore Mackinaw City and the Island. If you're looking for a amenities rich campground this is not a good choice. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a very clean and well maintained park. It does not have a lot of amenities, however we were there to visit the Island and do things away from our site the majority of the time. The roads were constantly being maintained while we were there - filling in potholes, grading, etc. The maintenance people also replaced sign posts and kept up with park maintenance quickly and efficiently. They had good lighting and signage at the intersections making navigating the park very easy, even at night. The sites are level and spacious. They only have 3 or maybe 4 pull through sites which go quickly, however the back-in full hook-up site we had was very easy to get in and out of with our 44ft fifth wheel. The mosquitos were very bad when we were here and so we did not sit outside for very long at all. There were others who had campfires at night and there was a very nice cement fire ring, however, we were not wanting to contend with the mosquitos. The park is right on the lake and there is a great view of the bridge. Star Line ferry had two pickup points within the campground which made getting to and from the island very convenient. I would stay here again if visiting the island. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Soo Locks are only about an hour each way and our kids really enjoyed the ships. The Lockview Restaurant was awesome! Their food tasted and appeared very fresh - my wife had the fried whitefish which was also done very well - light breading, very tender, and not overdone. The burgers our kids had were phenomenal - very well seasoned, did not appear to be pre-made/frozen. On the island, Joann's Fudge was the place to go. They have very good peanut brittle, candy, and of course fudge.

Gigantic campground! Great for kids. The rate list posted on their webpage and is very confusing. I originally made reservations for a small size FHU site, unfortunately there is no site map of the campground on-line (they are only found in the office and camp store, although you can look at the one in the store). Since we were in a 30ft MH, I thought a small size site would be fine. You don't know your site # until you check in. We were put in #134. If you like camping like a sardine it would have been fine. Luckily there were lots of empty sites so we asked to be moved to a lrg site & were given #172 which was quite spacious. In loops 3 - 9, sm FHU back-in sites are on the side of the road facing west and the lrg back-in FHU sites are on the road facing east. Each large site is equal in width to two sm sites. The FHU lake front sites look to be the same size as the small size (no view) FHU sites. While the view is great in the front row, the sites are way too close, but you wouldn't know that because there is no campground site map. The free WIFI wasn't worth the effort to try to log on - never did work for us. Our own Verizon Jetpack mifi worked fine. It was a real hassle to take our trash to the front of the park - they need to add more trash cans. We did not use the showers/bathrooms but 1 shower building for a campground this size seems inadequate. Interior roads are narrow. The cabins looked nice. Mackinac Island Star Line ferry offers free pick up and return to the campground which was very convenient. We stayed here a week and would probably return. All staff were very friendly & helpful. The campground was very clean but worn looking. Our lrg site was $31 during the week and $34 on the weekends. It averaged $29 with a good sam discount. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Big Stone Bay Fishery is near the campground and has very good fresh fish for sale.

Colonial Michilmackinac and Fort Mackinac are worth a visit, as are the McGulpin and Old Mackinac Point Lighthouses.

We would not recommend the Mackinac Island Carriage tour. It was expensive and the guides were more jokesters than historic narrators. Easier and less expensive to walk or bike on the island.

We arrived in the rain and there check in procedures have their customers standing outside to check in as if you are buying tickets at a ticket window. Got eaten alive by mosquitoes. When we pulled into our site got swarmed by millions of "lake bugs" that made it literally impossible to camp. Requested a site further from the water where perhaps the sky was not black with bugs and were told most of their 50 amp sites where having "maintenance done." Found one site that was much smaller but at least we could go outside. The sites were primarily gravel, sand, and high weeds. No garbage cans except for the dumpster up front that you would have to drive to as it very away. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

The Bridge and Island sites are very close together and unfortunately we were there when these flying bugs called Midges or Fish Flies had hatched and every vehicle was covered by these things. The campground is clean and many roads to walk around. My complaint is they say they are dog friendly BUT there is a lawn in front of this section clearly stating dogs are to be walked on the road, not grass. How many dogs do bathroom duties on a road? While geese run & poop all over lawn dogs cannot poop & owners clean up. Also all the metal cans placed along park roads are for ashes only with the only garbage area near the office at the entry. When I make reservations I state we are traveling without canine child who stays in the motorhome with music on. After check in under rules on paperwork it state do not leave dogs unattended at your campsite or in an rv followed by a list of local kennels! Needless to say we ignored the grass bit by walking her on the edge and left her in our motorhome while doing short day tours during our stay. I can understand if we have a non stop barker but this is not what I consider pet friendly. They do not have a pet run either. We would not stay here again due to this issue. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

We stayed in June 2015 and found it to be a nice park. However, we stayed in site 610, which is bridge view but was so tight we could not put out our awning all the way and had to fold our outdoor run in half and it still went into the scrub brush. We require 30 amp and there where numerous other sites available for bridge view that were vacant the whole time we were there that had twice as much room. I don't understand why felt they had to cram everyone together in those tiny sites. The mosquitos were thick, but luckily they didn't bite. There were bug swarms as others mentioned but this is to be expected this time of year in that area. People should know that. We will go back but request a better site. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

We really did not like the site we were given in this humongous, rustic, dirty campground. We have a big rig and we know how to back into a site, but the site, 773, once we found it (for there are no camp maps or street names) was directly across a narrow lane from huge boulders used to define the edges of the shower facilities. There were many available sites, the campground had few campers the entire 6 days we were there, but we were told we were assigned 773, and could not be moved to another site. A campground worker came to direct us back and forth until we got past the boulders and into the site. It was tight. The site was hemmed in by tall overgrown bushes and weeds. Once we figured out the unusual Wi-Fi login procedures, Wi-Fi was fine. We did have a satellite friendly site. Our view was of the shower/toilet facilities, and weeds. Check in procedures was odd in that you stood outside at a window like a movie theatre. Only one location at the entrance for garbage, but the reason sounded valid, to keep animals from inside campground area. A lot of construction going on as more sites and roads were being built. We were there in early June, apparently before the season, cannot imagine what it is like when it is full. We will never stay here again. Too many other choices. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.
