Booked a large 50 amp site but upon arrival found no view of anything except the outhouse across the road. We asked to be moved to the "bridge view" area which are the premium sites. Our 38' motorhome and jeep barley fit in both length and width. The sites are so closely packed that neighbors sitting in front of their camper sounded like they were in our living room even though we had the doors and windows closed. These sites are the tightest I've seen in 5 years. You can have a larger site or know there is a lake out there but you can't have both!! There is a fee for everything and rules rules and more rules. My favorite is that pets are not allowed on the grass and must be kept on the road. Couldn't take our dog to the bench on the shore without breaking a rule. Know what you want and be ready for a crowded campground before booking this CG! Trash must be taken to dumpster way up at the office. The staff is very helpful and very personable I want to be sure to add! Big place and feels like a "Big Place"to be sure! We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Locals call the tourists "fudgies". Take the hint, buy some judge, it is very good fudge! Go to Mackinac Island for the day and bike around the island. Use the bike/hike trail between Mackinaw City and Cheboygan.

This campground is massive. Road layout is confusing to say the least. Our site was level, some shrubs between sites, mostly dirt and some gravel. Sites and roads were very dusty. The fire ring was located at the extreme rear of site. For the price, all sites need maintenance and more grass. We don't like parking in dirt. Not all roads are paved. Non paved roads are very dusty but overall in good condition. Water pressure was ok at 38 psi. Verizon cell worked, but no LTE. Only weak 3G. There are waterfront sites here, very narrow (25 ft) and not very deep. Your RV will back up to RVs directly behind you. Large motorhomes will have a very tight fit. Water front sites are only 30 amp service. They are pricey - $64 and up per night. This is a family campground. There are playgrounds, a pool, game room, bike rentals etc. The park store seem well stocked. They offer hot coffee, soft drinks, limited groceries, wine and beer. They also sell pizza. There are two areas in the campground to catch the free shuttle that takes you to the ferry going to Mackinac Island. The free shuttle leave at 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 AM. The shuttle has a trailer for your bikes. There is not a laundromat in the campground. You need to go to Mackinaw City to do laundry. All trash containers are located need the entrance to the campground. That can be a very long walk to take out the garbage. When arriving there are two lanes to park in. You need to know your vehicle license number before you walk to the office to register. If the sites were better maintained and the campground had paved roads I would have rated this campground higher. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

A trip to Mackinac Island is a must. Round trip ferry prices to the island start at $24. You can take your bike to the island for a $10 charge. You can rent bikes on the island for $6 per hour. A trip to the Soo Lock in Sault Ste Marie is also good. There are boat tours that will take you through the locks.

We were reluctant as new campers to go to such a large park, but we found a very professional, well maintained, and organized facility. It was the end of Sept so relatively quiet, but even with it's size, we never felt crowded. You have to pay for wifi, and pay according to your desired speed via an outside provider, however I felt that was worth it as the service was very good. Easy access to the ferrys and downtown. We would definitely return! We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

Upon arrival was greeted by an individual in drive up parking area directing vehicles to make sure everyone was able to get through the check in process quickly. Large park, well ran. Lots of staff on duty. Many things to do within campground. Keep your campground map handy to navigate. Pool nice as was beach area. Highly recommend using fire rings in common area by the lake to watch sun set behind the bridge. Ride fire truck early in the night as it is very popular and busy. Great way to see the campground. Sites are tightly spaced, but we knew this heading in so it wasn't a big deal to us. They have planted trees and shrubs between sites to try and provide some privacy. After rain storm staff was out filling holes in the gravel roads. Main roads through campground are paved. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

This is a huge campground and the sites vary widely in different parts. We stayed in an extra large site in the 900 section. Our site was adjacent to a wifi tower and the wifi there was well worth the extra cost. We also were able to get satellite from our site. The views of the bridge from the park are a nice feature. I have been there 3 times and have had no issues. I am not sure what the prior person was referring to about the rules being nit picky. It is clean with ample showers and the staff have always been a non issue. The first time several years ago, we had a pop up and stayed by the bathroom. I didn't much care for the oil pan fire ring but those have been phased out mostly. The camp store is well stocked. 2nd time had a bridge view water site with full hook up. Those are tight sites. The view is really worth the extra cost though. 3rd time we were behind the brigeview sites, full hook up and our site measured 2 of those. The picnic table was in need of repair and when I called the office they brought me a newly made table amazingly fast. Family stayed in the econo sites (more state park like) for a few days and had no issues either. Both families said the vault toilets were kept clean and didn't smell. Pool is clean also. We had dogs as well and again there were no issues. We even put hammocks up on the common area where the bridge view water sites are and had no issues as it is a common area. My sister has stayed in the cabins at least 2 times and loved it as well. The times we went we're not on a holiday and the rustic areas had just a few campers here and there. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

This is a huge campground with lots of trees. It has good activities for the family and proximity to Mackinaw City. We only stayed one night but enjoyed a short walk to see the famous bridge. We had no DTV satellite coverage because of trees. WiFi is pay for coverage but very weak signal so mostly useless. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

This campground is located about two miles south of Mackinaw City on the shores of Lake Huron. The price reflects 3 different rates during our stay, i.e.: weekend. The campground is huge and you need to pay attention to the park map when you come in. Our site was a large back-in that was wide and long, surrounded on three sides by trees and foliage. We were on a corner, so it was even bigger. All utilities worked well and the site drained quickly after a HUGE rain. We were able to get satellite at this site; not all can. There is a well stocked store, beaches, and a shuttle stop for the Mackinac Island boats. They really cater to families and we saw lots of bike riders and kids having fun. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

Take the trip to Mackinac Island! They sell boat tickets at the office and the shuttle stops in the park, very convenient. We took a horse carriage tour and enjoyed it. Also, a cocktail on the 660 ft long porch of the Grand Hotel was a treat, even at $17.50 for a bloody mary and a wonderful view is included. We visited Sault St. Marie and the Soo Locks to see a 1,000 foot long plus ship pull into the locks, get lowered 21 feet from Lake Superior to Lake Huron. You MIGHT want to have some fudge.

Mackinaw Mill City Camping has around 600 sites so it is a very large campground. Even though we got a map which was well marked at the office, we still got confused. I made my reservation back in February and explained what I would like for a campsite. We got an amazing site right across the campground road from Lake Huron, with a view of Mackinac Island and the Mackinac bridge. Only drawback is the site was narrow and when we had neighbors, they were awfully close. The camp store had lots of items. We would go back to Mill Creek again. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are lots of things to do in Mackinaw City. Going out to Mackinac Island seems to be the most popular thing to do. There are a couple of lighthouses to tour and a shipwreck museum. Sitting in the nice park along the shore watching the ships come through is something leisurely to do. The downtown is interesting with lots or "tourist trap" shops. Scalawag's small restaurant has good fish. There are a couple of "small" grocery stores so some things are limited.

Price is average of two rates over four days. Place is huge with hundreds of sites. Roads are easy to navigate. Sites back from water are spacious with lots of trees and shrubs separating them, but uncut weeds make the sites look scruffy besides being a tick concern. Sites are more weeds than gravel. Water-view sites are close together. Free shuttle to Star Line Ferry to the island is very handy. OTA TV is okay. Satellite might have problems with all the trees. Wifi is bad. They give you 20 minutes free to see if it will work at your site before paying (and you pay for each device if you use more than one at a time). Wifi was poor at our site and our Verizon hotspot service wasn't good. We loved the spacious feel but were very disappointed to be so far away from the water. It was at least a half mile walk to get there and back, a walk we'd never take without our dog. When we got to the waterfront there were signs every few feet saying to keep dogs off the grass and on the road so we couldn't even sit on a bench and enjoy the view. All these negatives make the price very high for a couple but families with kids might find it quite acceptable. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

If going to the island, get tickets at the office or online and print them instead of doing "will call." When arriving at the island, sign up right away for the carriage tour as it's another long wait. You can shop or wander while waiting for your tour time.

Very large campground just south of downtown Mackinaw City, with mix of RV and tent sites, and cabins. Staff was all business, but friendly enough. Interior park roads were flat, sufficiently wide, packed gravel and were aggressively maintained on what appeared to be daily basis, which including spraying water to reduce dust, filling potholes, etc. Even witnessed them spraying herbicide or pesticide in and around occupied campsites...which may not be such a great idea. Sites also packed gravel and level, with reasonable spacing in area we were in. Prime locations available on Lake Huron, if you can get them. Clean, well maintained pit toilets scattered around the grounds. Amenities include camp store, pool, showers, mini-golf, and very handy shuttle service for one of the Mackinac Island ferries - they will take your bikes on the shuttle too! However, they have no laundry facility. They had pay WiFi service that we did not use. Verizon signal here is strong. Would definitely stay again and try to get site closer to water. We had a 50A, full hook-up, back-in site. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

When making the reservation, they won't give the Good Sam discount (I asked). It's your responsibility to remember to mention it when you check in. They will ask to see your Good Sam card. Other reviewers have done a good job describing this massive campground. It truly is massive. They had five cashiers checking folks in and I had to wait in line for my turn. I tend to side with those who find it too huge, the layout somewhat confusing, the restrooms too old and kinda icky and wondering why there's only one trash dumpster at the entrance (which can be a mile from your campsite). The interior roads are unpaved and very bumpy. We were two rows from the water. We had a partial water view in between the rigs in front of us and we could walk two minutes to the shoreline if we wanted to see the unobstructed view. We couldn't justify their crazy pricing for a waterfront site although the view is beautiful. We took advantage of the Starline Ferry pick-up inside the park to go to Mackinac Island which was very convenient. Verizon cell and Sprint Mifi worked well. We were able to obtain DirecTV signal. The site was very large, relatively level and included a picnic table and clean fire pit. All hook-ups worked perfectly although water pressure was a little low. Because we were visiting friends on the island, we didn't have time to explore nearby attractions (or even the campground itself). If we returned to the area, maybe we'd stay here again but I'd look at other options before making a final decision. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Starline Ferry picks up in the campground. Buy tickets online or at the campground for best pricing (rather than at the ticket office at the ferry dock). If you are going to the island multiple days, there is a multiple day pass that will save you some money. Take your bikes with you. Starling makes it easy. It'll cost $10 per bike round trip per day but it's a lot cheaper than renting a bike on the island. We taste-tested fudge from four different shops and determined Murdicks is the best!

We took a back in on the water with the windshield facing Mackinaw Bridge. The view was fantastic, but other sites very close. Roads not paved and not very good. Roads very confusing to find campsite first time, after that it was ok. Store was closed for the season, office very busy, staff pretty nice. Would look for another park next time but the view was great! We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

Found a great restaurant on the strip...Mom and Pop Restaurant, one of the oldest in Mackinaw city, but can't remember the name. Sit down, booths only, and everything was good! Split pea soup, Fresh lake Perch, Don't eat anywhere else! Wish I could remember the name.... The sign was vertical ...We tried other places and the whitefish was soggy, no flavor.

We echo the good comments on this park. It was the most expensive park we have encountered this season, with 12 weeks and 9000 miles traveling, however, in this case, we feel that we got what we paid for. Bear in mind, this is a massive RV park about 3 miles south of Mackinaw City. Our site was nearly a mile drive to the entrance. Many waterfront sites, but they are much smaller than other sites. We had a site 2 rows back from waterfront that was spacious, treed and very private, as are many there. This park is a destination resort in many ways. They have everything needed there on site. The general store is a bit pricey, but has whatever you may need. I rode my bike 3-5 miles per day and never left the park! They employ many students for the summer, all of which are trained to provide exceptional service from the time you arrive until you leave, as are all other regular employees. They have ongoing programs daily. The park creates its own atmosphere and was a great place to stay. We would stay here again without question. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

Make reservations as early as possible. Mackinaw City is mostly touristy things, great food shopping in Cheboygan 12 miles south. Trip to Mackinac Island is nice. MANY people, no cars, and only horses/ carriages allowed. 2 hour carriage tour was about $85.00 for 3. Ferry to island very reasonable and a 20 minute ride each. Way.
