The park was awesome. Most of the lots are really big and some are right on the water. I wouldn't recommend the loop to the left from the entrance (sites 120-143). Showers are nice but there is only one per bath-house. Sites are dirt and grass and feature a fire ring and picnic table. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful state park campground. Impeccably maintained by a super friendly staff. Spots are a mix of wooded and lake views. Wooded spots are larger and have more privacy. Big fire rings, and picnic tables, with 30 amp at each spot. Lake facing spots have spectacular views, and face the sunset. Great bathhouses and play areas for kids. Beach with kayak rentals, etc, also available. Really nice park, we had a fantastic time there. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

South Campground review --We spent 5 days here. We chose a water view. Electric only, with dump station and water spigots around. Plus 9/day for the MH - or get a $32 pass - and $7 for the car. The sites are mostly grass, spacious with a big fire ring and picnic table. Back in mostly, but some pull thrus, some parked sideways. Rest rooms and $2.00 showers for non-campers. Well maintained, and very clean. Beach, boat ramp, playground, kayak rentals, a book nook, games, magazines and short hiking trails. Very popular park. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

The rate reflects a 30 amp site and does not include the required daily or annual pass ($31 each for motorhome and towed vehicle). Our site, 136, was very unlevel, even though it is listed as level on the web site. The only way we could park was sideways near the front of the site which meant that we barely had enough electrical cord to make it to the power pedestal. We made it all work, but just barely, by working on it for a long time. Our site was on the west end in the East Shore unit. (The West Shore unit is about 15 minutes away, more remote, with 20 amp service, and does not take reservations.) We did not have any type of water view, but it seemed to be much quieter in our loop. Many of the sites on the east loops did have a lake view, with some being wonderful. I suspect one has to book very early to hook one of these sites. We were able to find a hole in the trees to get satellite with a portable dish, but it was not easy. We had Verizon data and voice using our amplifier and roof-top antenna. On one side we had close neighbors, on the other we had lots of space. Most sites are fairly close together with little vegetation for separation. It was fine for a couple of nights to visit the area, but we would not go out of our way to stay here again. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

We were looking for a quiet place to avoid the weekend crowds yet still be within 2 hours of the Mackinaw Bridge area. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed here on a Friday night in July.

Note there are 2 separate camping areas - south/main and west. We stayed in the west campground.

This is a nice hideaway with 72 walk-up (non-reservable) sites. Registration is self-service and cash or check only, or you can register and pay with a credit card at the main/South Indian Lake SP campground 2 miles away. The sites are 20 amp electric only. Although the sites are relatively close together, the 'pod' shaped areas make the sites feel much bigger. There are no dump station nor trash/recycling, however, these can be used at the main campground at no additional charge. Showers are available at the main campground for $2. There is no wifi. Verizon cell coverage was just strong enough to use a hot spot. ATT was adequate. Despite being a weekend in the busy season, the campground was about half full. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

There's a small beach on Indian Lake about a mile away. The Kitch-iti-Kipi Spring (The Big Spring) at Palm Book SP is about 4 miles away.

This is a beautiful state park with most of the sites offering a great view of the lake. There are sites up on a bluff and some smaller sites right on the lake, enjoy your morning coffee sitting on your own beach. There are very few pull throughs and only one was really level, 39. Larger rigs would need to use a back in site but well worth it as it is a great park. We stopped overnite and ranger didn't charge us the entry fee for our tow vehicle as we weren't going to unhook. We would stay here again. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Park is tight for a big rig but gal on phone said my 40 ft motor home and toad would have room to stay hooked up and it did. Most are seasonal but we had about 7 overnighters when we were here. It has a lake but very small beach and no dogs allowed there or anywhere in the park except to walk to dog run. Kind of a pain with our two dogs as we have been staying at places that are wide open. IMO this park is alright for one night but I wouldn't stay for a season. We had 50 amp service as 30 amp was only 2 dollars cheaper and we needed AC. Water and sewer with WiFi that worked fine as we were close to office. This will be our only stay here or in the future. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Called for vacancies and upon arrival at office were given a laminated map of campgrounds with vacant sites noted. Told to drive around, pick site and return to pay for chosen site. Most all sites have electrical, are very large dirt/ grass sites with site boundaries indicated on paved interior roads, level with rv parked wherever within site boundary lines. We parked motorhome facing lake with great view in number 92. Need a daily $9.00 or $31.00 out of state recreation fee for both motorhome and towed vehicle. Water and dump station is conveniently located near entrance as well as recycling bins. Big rig friendly. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Very close sites especially drive throughs. We could almost touch neighbors. NO Tv. 1st time I ever that happen. No Wifi despite there advertising it. We were next to office too. It wasn't dirty, but it was dusty with traffic and little or no grass, just dirt site. It might not be bad for overnight stay, but you could probably get better camping experience by staying a State or State Forest campground. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

the "Resort" featured utilities in strange situation. The electric was in standard drivers side position, but the sewer and water were on opposite side (starboard) side. We didn't need sewer so we didn't hook up. I would go to State campground next time.

We just returned from our second stay at Indian Lake State Park. This is a great park set on a large inland lake in the Upper Peninsula. It is a great swimming lake and rather shallow, which means it is much warmer than nearby Lake Michigan. Many campers take advantage of the lake for boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing. Campsites are decent size and most are easy enough to access. There are three sets of conveniently-located bathhouses/showers. While they are older, they are immaculately maintained and cleaned daily. Access roads are paved, and sites are grass and most are shaded. Reserve early (6 months) for a lakefront site. Sunset is a special time at Indian Lake SP! Lakefront sites on the north end of the park sit on a bluff, while the south end is at lake level. Manistique is a convenient location for exploring Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Our site was decent size, with neighbors nearby, but still felt like we had some privacy. No hook-ups. Lots of trees and a beautiful lake with boat and swimming access. Playgrounds, trails. Well maintained and good security. In Michigan you pay a park entrance fee and a camping fee, but your entrance fee can be used for other park attractions like "The Big Spring", so well worth the ticket price. Quiet park, although very busy in summer. Big enough for walking or biking on streets. Great place to relax, camp and chill out for a summer break. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the East campground, sites 34, 36, and 28. All were very deep and had a good level grassy area for the trailers. Great place to walk the park and trails. Many places to get to the water and sand to start swimming. Visited Fayette and Palm Book State Parks along with the town for shopping. Two lighthouses, water tower, fish hatchery, Siphon Bridge and 2 mile boardwalk made the area interesting. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This has become one of our favorites with its magnificent lake and sunset views. It was quiet and all the roaming room we needed with our pooch. Well cared for, best deal. Water available. Some sites are beach accessible if you have small craft. Excellent day use picnic area and boat launch. On the weekend it could be crowded but still enough room for everyone. Can't wait to return! We are writing to evaluate the West Shore part of this campground, which is on the other side of the lake. We arrived on a Friday night and the other half of the park was overrun with people so we tried the West Shore half. This is a great place to stay if you like lots of solitude and quiet. There were only a handful in there on the weekend. Good points: nice shade, cool, scenic forest scenes on all sides, level wide sites for the most part, quiet since there weren't many people over here. Bad points: no lake view, only 20 amps electric, LOTS of mosquitoes. It's a self check in. Someone does come around frequently to check the population. I thought $16.00 was a lot to pay for only 20 amps electric, but we still enjoyed it. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Motorhome.
