We had electric only so I think the price is a bit high. But we were happy to get a spot. It was the last site they had when we called. It was a back in, in the wooded area. A little tricky backing in between the trees. No chance of TV or satellite due to the trees. The sites are close and back to back. Staff was friendly and efficient. What they call dog runs aren't really but there are plenty of places to walk the dog. It suited our purposes. We came to sightsee so didn't spend much time at the park. If we came again I'd try for one of the full hook ups out front or a pull through full hook up in the wooded area. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

KOA has a lot of work to do here to represent its brand. This is truly a campground, not an RV park. Our biggest complaint is that we made reservations in February for a 50 amp FHU site, and when we arrived, we were told the site they assigned us did not have functional sewer. Apparently there was a blockage in the line. Said they'd try to get to it when things slowed down. No effort to call us, put us in another site, offer to run a line to another sewer trap. Oh, but no problem, we have a dump station. Dump stations are fine when you're on your way out, not in the middle of a stay. Four nights in a large motorhome with two toilets, shower, washer/dryer and dishwasher meant we had to change our normal routines. Very disappointed in how this was handled. Our site was in the front, in a grassy, sandy open field. The site was level and spacious. We could not get satellite reception due to large trees. The cable was fine, as was the internet. The restrooms were very uninviting and overcrowded. Three toilets and two showers for a very large campground. Convenient location. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the overflow F3 with electric only. We had trouble getting into any of the campgrounds in this area so were happy to have an overflow spot. We expected awnings to be touching with other overflow residents. I must say ... I think we had the best spot in the whole place. If you are staying here in a full service site this would be good. Many sites are electric only or electric & water only so you are all sharing the restrooms. They are clean but you have only two showers for this whole place. They need to add more showers. While others may not complain; I did not like the shower head being directly over my head. There is no chance of not wanting to wash your hair one night. Other than that ... you are so close to many attractions which was our draw. We stayed here for 6 nights, conserved on our water tanks, black & gray, and made out great. Never needed to use the Blue Boy. We even think that if we stay here again and can not get into a full service up in the front area; we would consider asking for the overflow area. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

This is now a KOA. Pricing varies on whether you have 20 or 30 amp, water or pull thru. I don't have kids and typically don't stay at KOAs because of the cost. Office staff is a bit disorganized with new system. This is a popular tourist area and you will need reservations. Most of the sites are in nice shade. Lots of sand and dust from unpaved roads. Seems to be a great park if you have little ones. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The area had a lot of rain lately and the dirt roads and our site were mud pits. Gravel would be a huge improvement. When we booked this in April it was not a KOA so we were surprised when we drove up and saw the sign. When we checked in she said it was $110 I did not think this was correct but did not have the exact number as this was the only reservation we have made during our eight weeks (and 17 different campgrounds) that did not send us an email confirmation. I checked my itinerary later and saw that they had quoted me $97. Since this is the week our friends were joining us, KOA charges five dollars extra per person after the first two. When we got to our site which was a long shady pull through we noticed our picnic table was right up against the neighbor's picnic table and if we were to try to sit around our fire pit we would literally be sitting in the other people's site. We asked to be moved to another site. They said they couldn't move us but sent someone down to move the picnic table and fire pit. They do not give you your site number when booking. Many of the sites are companion sites which mean you are facing your neighbor and your picnic table is right next to theirs. Be prepared for mud if it has been raining. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

We are in a big rig. We were parked in the field in the front which was fine. looked a little tight in the back. This was a place to park and hook up while we visited picture rocks. Road noise didn't bother us. Front is a wide open field with full hookups. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

It was disappointing to stay at a park that had such great advertising. Their false advertising was upsetting. When we arrived at the park there was no laundry that was stated on the brochure packet. They also said that there were "modern showers" well the showers were filthy, freezing cold, and run down. The pool was extremely run down and looked nothing like the picture in the brochure. The campsites are small, close together, and VERY dirty. I know you can't please everyone but for $41 dollars a night they could at least have warm showers with more than just two showers for a campground that holds over 100 sites. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

Requested to move to a vacant site for better satellite signal and easier connection, they were reluctant to agree to a change. Laundry room is unusable, ceiling tiles missing with illegal electrical wiring exposed. Sewer connection is one foot above ground, making stinky slinky a challenge to empty. As we all know **** flows downhill. Pool looks nice and clean, sign indicates capacity of 70, we counted 12 last night and can't imagine 58 more in there! We had a large back-in site. Our neighbors were separated by trees. If you're looking for a "woods" experience, this is the park for you. However, sites in the middle of the property seemed close together.

Although modern (newer), for the whole park they only provide two showers in each restroom of the single bathhouse. I had to wait for my morning shower. The showers were small and had no shelf to hold your soap/shampoo. A plastic chair was provided for each shower, but it took up most of the private dressing area. If you are a large person, I think you'd have a problem.

It was adequate, but an uninspiring experience. Our rate may have been higher than other posts because of the 4th of July weekend. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

We'd read some negative things about this park but overall it was a lot nicer than expected! They are in the middle of renovations so there is a bit of construction going on.

The site was clean, level and pleasant but the real winner was the fact the showers were brand new - big stone tiled walls and floors and rain shower shower heads. They were warm, not hot though, but the shower heads were a huge winner.

The only thing to note is that they are situated across from a landfill but we had no problems with this whatsoever. They were friendly, clean and nice, so it wasn't a bad experience. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

It was lovely, and a nice place to stay. we highly recommend taking the boat tours for Pictured Rocks - the best way to see these beautiful formations is by boat.

All I can say about this park is it is adequate. We were put in an open field facing the office. At our first site we could not get satellite because of a tree, but office was accommodating and let us move next door and it was fine. Cable was good. We were told upon arrival there was no Wi-Fi, but we have a hotspot, so it was not a big deal. Camp was very empty, I'm sure due to the time of year. The sites were pretty level, gravel and grass. Sewer hookup was fine. We took a walk through the park; sites in the woods looked nice and level, fairly good size, very woodsy. Check-in office was adequate. Limited items for sale, staff friendly. Laundry room was in back of office in the basement. Tidy, but very musty smell. The outside of the building could use a good cleaning and sprucing up, as it is, to us, a statement about the rest of the park. If you go out at night, be aware of the park's location-there is no light at the sign or the end of the driveway. This park met our needs for 3 nights , but I wouldn't want to vacation here. Pool was closed, but again, time of year. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Many waterfalls to see, hiking, kayaking, and downtown Munising is only 3 miles away. There you can take a boat tour of Pictured Rocks Park. We chose to take the shipwreck tour, thinking we would see the big area of Pictured Rocks, but it did not take us there. Our tour took us to 3 shipwrecks - 2 would have been more than enough. They all looked the same in the glass bottom boat. We golfed at Pictured Rock Golf Club. Nice course, good rates and easy to get tee times.

Called month in advance and booked 50 amp/sewer site. Called a week prior to reconfirm. Arrived and was told there were no 50 amp/sewer sites available. Only thing available was 50 amp and water. Took site after male desk manager rudely stated he would not rework his site list. Assigned site had faulty 50 amp wiring that was tripping the transfer switch. Only 30 amp worked. Stayed for 2 weeks and no one would make site change for me. Their customer service was very poor.

Looked into changing parks but availability during summer months at other parks is slim.

Because of the male manager's attitude and responses to me I will find another park next time. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Motorhome.

Our full hookup 50 amp electric spot was a stretch of dirt with a close up view through our windshield of the garbage dumpster and a sewer line that didn't drain (electric and water were fine and cable TV was adequate). We notified the office as soon as we hooked up about the sewer, but 6 days later nothing had been done. All of this glory for $47 per night! We were in front of the office with no tree issues, so our satellite dish worked great. They have what used to be a swimming pool, but last winter it cracked and drained. They have let it go all spring and summer without getting it fixed. They advertise a mini golf course, but it has been removed. Unlike others, our WiFi worked great, but we have a signal amplifier, so maybe that is the difference. In the unlikely event that we were to revisit this area, we would stay elsewhere. Some mildly interesting waterfalls with short hikes in the area. Painted rocks are interesting, but we recommend seeing them by kayak or pontoon boat rather than on a cruise. Best restaurant in the area is the Haywire about 10 miles southeast of town.
