A small campground on Lake Superior just outside of downtown Munising. Water campsites are very nice with a great view of the Lake and beach access. Sites are good size and all have water and electric hookups. Keep in mind that some hookups are closer to the street and you may need a longer power cord or hose. Sites on both ends of water also have sewer and gravel parking pads. Some had no trees others had a few.

Sites that weren't on the water were also good size. Campers from these sites do tend to cut through water sites to get to beach so do not be surprised if someone walks through your site, especially near the picnic area.

Bathrooms (there are 2 bath houses) were kept clean and heated- did not use or look at showers since when I thought about it there was a line to use them.

Free Wi-Fi is available. Worked decent both at RV and on beach.

Ice cream bike drive through on both Fri and Sat night which was great for the kids since the selection in the camp store was small.

Very small playground- a baby swing and tall slide. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Water hookups far from the electrical pedestals. You may need in excess of 50 feet of hose to hook up.
Grass sits in need of mowing, but fairly level.
30 amp electric extremely weak. Had to use my autoformer to get by.
Great view of Lake Superior out our window. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Spent two nights in early June in a waterfront lot. Had to use the furnace one night. West restroom/showers were clean, but could have used a heater in them. East restroom/shower building has heated floors, but didn't use this facility. Very nice campground, will recommend and stay here again. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed two nights. The water front inside the park is very pretty, with gorgeous sunsets over the water. Roads within the park were gravel and full of puddles, except for the old concrete highway that has been incorporated into the park roads. Some of the sites had puddles in the parking areas (rain the night before) but seemed to support the campers that were there. My site was grass and dirt, with no gravel on the parking area. The park was 100% full while we were there. Make reservations!!

The electric pedestal on my site did not have both 30 and 50 amp RV plugs. My site had 20 & 50, but I needed 30. I had to purchase a 50 to 30 adapter at a local hardware.

When we arrive the dumpster were overflowing, to the point of trash being stacked beside the dumpsters. Next day it had been cleaned. More trash disposal facilities are needed.

The bathhouse is elevated a few feet higher than the surrounding area. Vehicles in the parking area adjacent to the toilet can block the approach to the dump station occasionally, especially in the morning when people are showering and people are trying to depart.

The park office sells green/wet firewood. Bring your gas mask. The campfires were really smoky. I would have rated this park higher had except for the excessive smoke. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Painted Rocks National Lakeshore boat tour from downtown Munising is well worth the cost! I would do that tour again.

The Bear Trap Restaurant about 5 miles east of town is worth the trip. The locals eat and drink there. Fresh made pasties (local meat & veggie pie), yum!

Many waterfalls near town, some close enough to drive to, some a short hike.

We stayed here in a 23' class B MH - no slides or toad. Site had 50 amp only so we used a dogbone to hook up our 30 amp. Very nice folks on staff, beautiful setting and our site looked out over the BIG lake!! Had a drippy faucet at our site and reported to office - it had dug a foot deep hole. Hope they fix it ASAP! We would stay here again, Be careful - area around city has zero Verizon reception but at site 4 bars. Means you can't communicate if you're in the National park!!!! We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We opted for the better site along Lake Superior. We had a beautiful view of the sunset every night, well worth the extra dollars.
We had no problems with any of the hookups and the wifi worked well. We had several over the air channels but had to keep adjusting the antenna to keep the signal strong on the stations.
Site was level and gave us plenty of room. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The primary attraction here is camping right on Lake Superior. This self-serve park is pretty basic, some sites with trees on either end of the park and open sites in the center. Dirt roads in the park have a few ruts. They have added a new shower house on the west end of the park that looks quite nice. On a busy road a couple of miles from town so biking not an option. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We had a satellite friendly, Lake Superior front spot. This place is gorgeous. Not too windy, since it is on a little bay. The road are a little rutted, but fine as long as you drive slow. Staff was pretty non existent, since we were here off season. We made friends with a couple of the local ducks, that came every day looking for munchies.
Verizon mifi, Vz and AT&T cell phones worked fine. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets from our site.
Easy maneuvering our 35' fifth wheel and long bed dually. We will definitely return. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Family Fare Grocery Store in Munising, about 10 minutes away. Several places to eat in town, diesel fuel at a better price than surrounding towns, and a couple miles from the boat tour docks.

Really Nice Waterfront Campground. Many sites on water. Some sites OK for Direct TV. Pet Friendly, many tents sites on water. Some pull throughs. Small beach, shallow close to shore. Stayed during Labor day, crowded but not overly. Enjoyed our stay. 5 local TV Channels. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

First the good part. This park is easy to find, and only 10 minutes west of Munising. It is right on the water. You can walk your dog along the beach, and the water looked shallow quite a way out and inviting (except it was frigid). ATT signal was good. As for the bad, it is a sand pit with a little grass here & there near the sites. You will have sand in your rig. It is dusty, & vehicles do not follow the speed limit, raising clouds of dust. Lots of campfires at night, & lots of smoke. Sites that border the lake are beautiful, but the sand is very soft so its best for smaller rigs. There are two paved sites (43 & 44). They are listed as handicapped, but they give them to anyone booking them. One road had a huge mud puddle in it which indicated a water leak. At the intersections, and in some sites, there was sticky mud & it had not rained for a week. On weekends this place is packed. There are site markers, but don't be surprised if someone pulls in between sites, or sets up a tent between rigs. Its basically a free for all, and you can park at any angle or direction. Bring lots of hoses and extension cords. Some of the water spigots are split 4 ways and can be a distance away. Same for electric. Ads and website say you can get a FHU site. We paid for one, and then discovered that there is no sewer. There are dump outlets at some sites, but apparently the system is inop. Never saw anyone hook up. Our "FHU" site did not have a sewer outlet at all. Wifi is super weak; so weak we could not log on although I could see the antenna. All of the sites are dirt, and if it rains you need to beware of the mud in the sites and roads. Roads are very potholed. It looks like they have not been graded in years. No cable and no over the air channels, so bring your satellite. This place could be a gem, but the city just wants the income but does not want to do the investment. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Munising is a tiny town. You can buy fuel and a pastie and a t shirt, but not much else. Found a liquor store, but not a super market. So bring what you need. Nothing much in the camp store. There is a well stocked ACE hardware. If you come here do a pictured rocks cruise; that is why this place exists. Good cruise ($37).

This park in on the shoreline of Lake Superior with a cool lake breeze most of the time especially in Sept when we visited. The park is clean but only offers limited RV supplies in the office. Dumpsters are available. Lots of grass and some trees. DISH sat set up worked our site. Munising is a small town that is great for visiting Pictured Rocks Nat. Lakeshore. We would return. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very busy campground that seems to run itself. Never saw an employee other than in the office. If you can score a lakefront site, you'll be in heaven. The sites are clean and ours was level. Wifi was not good. The campground needs to have the random litter picked up near the woods. Sites are spacious. The location is the big draw here. The campground if it was located anywhere else would probably get a 7. Roads need to be regraveled or paved because of standing water and potholes. We were able to get a satellite signal. We loved it. Your GPS will probably steer you wrong. If your coming from the east on hwy. 28, keep heading west. DO NOT GO EAST. After coming through Munising, you'll drive up a hill and see a Holiday Inn Express on the right. The campground is approximately a 1/4 mile past the Holiday Inn on the right. The green sign blends in and is set too far off the road. Just keep a watchful eye after the Holiday Inn and you'll be fine. These are directions coming from the EAST. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We loved this park! We were fortunate enough to get a lakeside site (94) and the view was spectacular. We had a beautiful sand beach with shallow water right on our campsite. We spent hours just soaking in the view. Some of the lakefront sites were close together so we really liked our site as it was double wide.

The park itself was clean, mostly quiet, and reasonable for full hook ups. The only bad things I could even think of were that we couldn't get the free wifi from our site so you had to walk up to the office to get on and you could hear the highway from time to time. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We were here the week after the 4th. Nice campground on Munising Bay (Lake Superior). We had a lakefront site that was all sand! I would've preferred grass, but it was OK. We were here after a heavy rain. Lots of standing water on the roads and on some sites. Some time spent with a grader and some gravel would do wonders! Water and electric hookups were in good shape. Brand new shower house and dump station this year! Perfect campground for seeing the area. We camped at Munising Tourist Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

View of Lake Superior and sunsets were fabulous. Very accessible to boat tours and National Park visitors Center. Site under trees, so could not use satellite. Great wi-fi. Limited 50 amp sites. Level, pull thru site. Lake side sites were adequate, not spacious. Tent sites long way from shower building. Very popular, so need reservations in advance.
