This is a family run campground, check in was friendly. Most sites are tree covered so no satellite reception, T-mobile is good. Sites are dirt and not level. When neighbor checked in we lost power on the 50 amp service. We shared the electric utility with the neighbor. He was forced to use the 30 amp service. The sites were head to foot. We did get prompt service on the box and had electric back. All sites had water service. Mosquitoes were out during the day. We stayed for three days and would return if in the area. We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Motorhome.

The Great Lakes Ship Wreck at whitefish Point is within an hour drive. The museum is well worth the visit. The Tahquamenon Falls is on the way on the return trip. This is also worth a visit.

Overall Rating:

There's hardly a site in this park that isn't shaded. Trees everywhere. Nice lanes up and down the hill throughout the park. Nice space between each site, too. The office person was extremely helpful...one of the best I have encountered. There are three areas, though, that may be a concern for some travelers: the only washrooms are at the front of the park; if it rains a lot, there is going to be mud because the roads and sites are natural with dirt and sand; and there are no sewer hook-ups which is a problem for longer stays. IF those three concerns don't bother you (they didn't bother me), then this is the park for you. I will definitely stay here again. A wonderful campground! We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The office person referred me to Great Lakes Trucking (about a mile from the campground) for some issues I was having with my RV. They told me to come over on the morning I checked out at the campground and they fixed the problems with great service. Be sure to ask about them if you have any problems with your rv while you are in Newberry. (The rv service center in my hometown would NEVER take someone without an appt, so this was really nice of them.)

Stayed for a couple of days on the way home. Nice clean park. Clean bathrooms, showers, pool. Daily garbage pickup. Lots to do in any direction for day trips. We would stay here again. Sites are big. Lots of shade so satellite reception is sketchy. Our spot had a good dish signal. Three bars of Verizon LTE. Park wireless was usable but slow. We used our jet pack. The new owners are doing a wonderful job. The pool is heated, grounds are neat, rest rooms and showers are clean. Our site was a pull through and the surface was gravel/grass and level. Power was good. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We only stayed one night and it was relaxing. We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice campground that is easy access to Whitefish Point or to Munising MI. The Campground is mostly wooded and easy to manuver through. The sites and roads had been recently re stoned and graded so they were in good condition. Our site was a pull through, level and has a shared power post with the sit next to it. Power was very good and no problem with voltage. Our neighbor did take the 50 amp plug that we paid for, but since the weather was cool we just stepped down to the 30 amp since we didn't need AC. The posts only have 1 30 amp and 1 50 amp plug for two sites. The owner was very nice and refunded us for the inconvenience. The campground is no longer a KOA but they also honored our KOA discount since we made our reservation before they split. The owner said they had purchased the campground two years ago and were trying to get it upgraded which appeared to be going well. We would stay here again. We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice park, typical KOA quality, deep shade from many maple trees, I'll bet it is gorgeous when the fall colors come in. Great temperatures in September, unfortunately had to close up and use AC because of all the smoky campfires built from wet wood dragged and hacked from the surrounding woods. Great laundry, restrooms and showers except the shower area needs more ventilation to dry it out a little. WiFi worked great, very important when exploring the area or planning the next leg. Overall Rating:

Very run down facility. Low water pressure (30 psi). Had electrical issues with the 50 amp service. 103 volts on one leg, 137 volts on the other. Our electrical management system kept shutting down the power to prevent damage. Couldn't run our AC due to the issue. The office said it shouldn't be a problem because "the wiring is new". They told me there was no one available to work on it.

The roads are dirt with no gravel. Good luck with the roads if it rains.

No cable or over-the-air TV signal and too many trees for satellite signals.

It's just an old run down park for nearly $50 per night. We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

We like the fact that there are lots of trees. We loved the heated pool which was very clean. Bathrooms and showers were neat and clean. We had plenty of room where our site was. We have a trailer but it looked a little tight if you had a motor home. Staff was friendly. They come around and collect your trash at your site every morning, which was nice. Only recommendation we would suggest is a little work on the picnic tables. Otherwise, no complaints. We will stay here again. Tips for other Campers:

Good place to stay if you are going to Mackinaw, Sault St Marie, Tahquamenon Falls, or the Great Lakes Museum in White Fish Point/Paradise. We also really liked the Luce County Museum and the Tahquamenon Logging Museum. (Good history of the CCC there.)

This is a tired, old KOA that is badly in need of updating. The laundry room is in the basement and consists of 4 antique washing machines and 4 antique dryers (of which only 3 still work). The showers are separate from the bathrooms and modern, but also have a subterranean feel to them with no natural light and poor ventilation. My site was an uneven combination of mud and gravel, the pedestal had obviously been backed over at some point and was held together with electrical tape. The park has wifi but I was unable to make it work. We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Truck Camper.

We stayed 6 nights in July, 2015. Some mosquitoes but not bad. Roads are sandy as are sites and a little difficult for a 42' RV to negotiate, especially to get to dump station. Sites close together and often back to back. Pets welcome. Need reservations several weeks ahead in summer- could not get a FHU site at all. Run by teenagers; typical KOA but a little bit worse for wear. Bathrooms were unclean, blocked toilet never fixed and very disjointed set up. As there are only 6 FHU, everyone is using them, although the park was not even a third full in peak season. The overnight stayers are placed in a gully which is filled with sandy grit - it rained & flooded. A very unappealing park that we would not stay in again. Kind of expensive for camping, but it is was it is. Best was the swimming pool. We all (kids and adults) enjoyed it and the water was so warm. We had the pancake breakfast, which was good. I have never seen cleaner bathrooms and showers. They must have cleaned them constantly since they were spotless various times of the day. We had a back-in site close to the main building which is pretty level. The only con is the playground, which needs some TLC. Overall Rating:

We stayed 2 nights at this KOA during our tour of Michigan's Upper Peninsula in early July and chose it primarily for its location to attractions we wanted to see. Office staff was courteous and helpful and check-in was easy. As noted in other reviews there are very few full hook-up sites in this rather large park. Most sites are shaded and most are relatively level. Some of the full hook-up sites are on the side of an incline and I can understand why some campers would have issues there; our site was a full hook-up site at the foot of this incline and we had no problems getting level. The park was clean and quiet. The fire ring should have been cleaned out better and the picnic tables are pretty worn. Wi-Fi reception was best if I sat at a table in an adjoining empty site. While it could use a "sprucing up" in terms of painting or other maintenance there was nothing objectionable. The campground store had mostly just the basic groceries. The free breakfast was your choice of eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon and beverages, all made while you wait. A destination campground it is not but we would definitely stay there again. Since there have been no reviews of this KOA in 5 years I wondered whether or not it was still open. It is, and I can understand why it doesn't get a lot of RVers. We stayed here last weekend and got one of the only 6 FHU, pull-through sites. It was also one of the few sites that you might be able to get roof satellite reception. There is one row of the FHU, pull-through sites in this otherwise heavily treed park. It seemed that they had more tenters, cabin customers, and pop-ups that larger trailers and motorhomes. I don't think that half the sites were taken for a weekend in the middle of their peak season. The park has some nice amenities (indoor pool, a cafe that prepares breakfast and several dinner meals, a playground, etc.). If you aren't too big, like a woodsy setting, and don't care about TV, you may enjoy this park. We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Motorhome.

No sewer hookups. Not a good layout for a big rig over 40 feet in length. Island in entry way makes park entry difficult. Can't see entrance sign very well coming from the West. Not what one would expect from a KOA. We camped at Newberry Campground (formerly Newberry KOA) in a Motorhome.
