An older but well-maintained park. Lots of activities for kids. Fishing, play ground, basketball. Some of the sites appear to be longer term rentals, but all are well-maintained. The site was long enough to remained hooked up overnight. Full-hookups. The laundry facilities were very clean and only $1.75 to wash and dry a load. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed while in area for motorhome renovations. Older but well-maintained campground. Sites gravel/grass on packed ground, reasonably level. Owners and staff friendly and helpful. Small fishing ponds (no license required), playground with old equipment but lots of games (basketball, tetherball, etc). Good WiFi (but we were here near end-of-season without many other campers). We were in the open but unable to get satellite because of high surrounding trees. Several good OTA channels. AT&T LTE signal good. South Bend, Mishawaka ~20 minutes away. Many wineries/breweries within ~30 minutes. Will return if in the area again. Cash & check only. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

South Michigan Wine Trail nearby. Plenty of shopping within 15-20 minutes.

Nice park. Sites are large. Sites are fairly level. Not readily marked as they are grass/rock. Some turns within park are tight. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Convenient to Notre Dame. South side train to Chicago and back from airport is fun. Corvus has good pizza. O'Rourks has good food and drink.

Our biggest surprise with this private campground was the large amount of land they have surrounding the campsites. Most campgrounds put RVs on almost the whole property, with maybe a small plot of land reserved for a playground or dog run. Spaulding Lake had huge grassy fields, a small forest with trails winding through it, a swimming lake and a fishing lake, and a pretty creek flowing all around the campground. The entire place is surrounded by tall, thick trees, providing great privacy (the campground is in a residential neighborhood). We found plenty of places to walk our dog, and he went for a few swims in the creek, but there's no enclosed off-leash dog area. As others have mentioned, half the sites are in a wooded section with shade and mature trees, the rest (including ours) are in a mostly open grassy field. Our site was grass instead of gravel, but we had no problems, even with two full days of rain. Site size was above average, utilities worked well, and even the WiFi worked well most of the time. Verizon and AT&T both had strong signal. The owner was very friendly and helpful, and we appreciated being able to receive mail and packages while staying here. This was a great place for us to stay while visiting Elkhart and surrounding areas. We would return here. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a BBQ restaurant about 1/4 mile from the campground. We got take-out once and it was quite good (but a bit pricey).

We spent 3 weeks here, and stayed out in the open area as we didn't want tree junk on our rv , with staying the long period we did. The internet worked well all around the campground (I used my phone to check diff areas too), but the cell service for Verizon was on and off depending on where you were at in there. It worked well in town. The water pressure was low. We went to go fishing, and didn't have much luck. They are so well fed, plus I swear the fish know how to strip a hook of a worm. The "lake" to go swimming in is not a lake. It is a very small pond, with green slimey things that float all around upon entering the water, from getting stirred up. There is a rope dividing where you can swim and where others can fish in that pond. The sand was firm in the water right in the middle, but you sink anywheres else. The water only came up to our waist and we only went that one time. Neither one of us cared for green slimey things floating all around. There are 2 other ponds in there too, that are for fishing only. Near the front of the campground is a small stream that flows through it. Very relaxing, nice, and ankle deep. Also many walking paths, but the bugs were too thick to go on the paths without taking a bath in bug dope first. What we found out while staying there, is that families with children get charged different than any place we have ever been. The rates didn't affect us, but I wouldn't go there with kids. 2 adults per site for that $28. Each additional kid, even if they are yours, is $3 extra a night. Also extra tents aren't allowed on a site with a larger tent, or an rv on it. They insist you must get another site for that tent. So.....any family with 3 kids, 2 adults would cost $34. As I said--the prices didn't affect us. I just don't agree with how they charge. They did give us a senior discount as we had paid for the month. The regular rate is $520 a month. They charged us $510. That was our discount. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you go here, you will have to ask for a picnic table and fire ring if one isn't on your site. They remove them for mowing purposes. Beautiful walking trails there. Clean park. Town is 3 miles away.

We stayed here for a month. Location easy to find and to get to following their signs. The roads are gravel and the sights are grass over gravel with very good hookups and wifi all over the park. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and always available. Restrooms very clean, laundry on sight. Large playground for kids and two fishing lakes for anglers. Nice swimming hole in third lake. Well kept paths through woods, along creekside and around the lakes. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Temporary stay while we visited investments in the area. Convenient to highways yet far enough to reduce highway noise. Sites were hard packed and clean, with easy access. Friendly staff. Did not use the amenities to cannot comment, but I am sure they were satisfactory. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We were in the South Bend area visiting family and stayed two nights (Friday and Saturday) because our preferred campground, Potato Creek State Park, did not have a vacancy. Spaulding Lake is an acceptable park. It is about 10 miles from the Indiana Toll Road. It is a quiet park with a mix of new and dated amenities. The electric, water, and sewer services worked well. There was good Verizon cell/MiFi reception. We had a clear view for satellite reception. Our site (102) was a very soft grass site; the site's previous tenant left a 10" deep rut from their tires. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

All in all a nice park. Good electric but water pressure is a little low. Nice and quite but we are here at the end of the season and no one really here. Nice and big. My only complaint would to put gravel in the parking spots. Nice good long pull thru and pretty level. It is grass and get pretty wet in the rain. We would park here again if in the area. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here several times, the owners are always nice, the park is clean, and the sites are level. There is a playground of sorts, but it is not very well kept but not dangerous. The lakes(ponds) are nice and fishing is allowed. The sites are grass and of medium size and length, they are easy to get into and many are shaded. We use a portable satellite dish and have had no problem getting set up in the treed sites. This is a nice campground, not to far from Elkhart. They only take checks and cash. I gave it an 8 because it lacks the amenities that some parks offer. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed overnight and it was a nice park for that purpose. A large park with lots of grass and trees which blocked our satellite signal, but the cable was good. Many activities for a family and children. We would stay here again. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground is a hard one to rate. Some things were very good and some things not. The people who run the campground have not progressed in many ways into modern methods. They do not take credit cards. The reservations were a stack of yellow slips of paper. We were given a site that barely fit our 32’ trailer. When we parked our truck along the road we were told we could not do that. When we asked where we could park it, we were told to fit it on the site or park in the remote parking, and we were to just “work it out”. We would have preferred that they would have told us that there was no room for us. The bathrooms are older, but are pretty clean. They had Wi-Fi, but it only work sporadically and then slowly. About half the sites have shade. Some sites were decent size but others were not; some places folks were really crowded together. The grounds were very well kept with a pretty stream flowing through it. This contrasted to the junk that sits around in various places. We stayed four nights this time, but we will think long-and-hard about there being a next time. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice campground that is very well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. All of the RV sites have 20/30/50 amp service, water and sewer and are level. The Wi-Fi was good at our site. Getting to the site was easy. There are several play areas for children as well as fishing and swimming. We stayed here for a week and would definitely come back. We loved everything about this place. A terrific combination of RV Park and Campground. Level grass sites and beautiful surroundings. We would easily spend a week here but need to move on after only 2 nights. Also, it has a really close proximity to Notre Dame for those who are interested. Great hosts. Family owned and run. Older campground, but well taken care of. Mostly permanent and seasonal campers. Gravel sites and road, but generally level. Quiet and most sites have some shade. Cash or check only. Easy access from US31 & US12. We camped at Spaulding Lake Campground in a Motorhome.
