Would have given this a rating of 10 if there had been water on our site. We had to fill the tank before parking. Beautiful backing right up to Lake Superior. The hosts were terrific and do a great job of taking care of the park and looking after their guests. We camped at Ontonagon Township Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Syl's in town has a great breakfast with homemade breads and pastries. Had the BEST cinnamon raisin toast ever, hands down. Laundromat in town is terrible. It has been vandalized several times and the old lady that owns it won't replace the bathroom or the carts. She hardly keeps up the machines. The repairman was there when we were there and filled us in.

Just a mile from the quaint village of Ontonagon, this park is right on the south shore of Lake Superior and has several lake front sites (we think the best are #11 and 12). The sandy beach is safe for young and old and alike. Although none of the sites have sewer, the dump station is easily accessible from either direction. Most sites are heavily wooded, but there are a few from which a satellite signal can be obtained. The lake front sites are limited to 9 to 16 days, but very nice sites located just 30 yards from the lake are available for the whole summer. This is a great park. Sites are all "first-come-first served", i.e., no reservations. Camp manager and staff are very cordial and helpful. We camped at Ontonagon Township Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Arrived without reservations soon after a lakeside site became available and we had to use 4WD to pull into site because of the sand. The next site's camper was very close to ours with a large family group. The site was in the sand so required 4WD to get set up. Because we had such a great lake view site we had all the traffic going up and down to the beach. We used this location to visit Porcupine Mountains and Bond and Agate Falls. Think we would look around for another park if we were in the area. Definitely needs to have the older section updated. Showers required 75 cents for 6 minutes. We camped at Ontonagon Township Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Park is very scenic with view of Lake Superior from about 25% of the sites. Well kept, clean and the management is very helpful. Call ahead and they will reserve a site for you on the day you intend to arrive. No TV reception except satellite and spotty cell phone reception. Beach access is good and while a bit cold Lake Superior is great for a swim on a hot day. Some seasonal campers, but not many. While there are no full hookup sites they will come and pump your tanks for a fee. We camped at Ontonagon Township Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Camped here in mid-July so it was fairly busy, but thankfully we got there in the middle of the week and were able to secure a lakefront site (#26). There are really 4 different sections here. The ones on the north end were grassy and generally shaded. Some water hookups were more than 25 ft. The middle section (where we camped) had about 7-8 lakefront sites, all very nice. There were pull-throughs, but not made for longer RV's. Also some sites were along the country road that were grassy and shaded. The newest section, and probably the most sought after, has 7 lakeside sites only. The new restroom/showers were in this section and were very nice and kept clean. The 4th section was across the road from the other sites and the lake. It contained several sites that were level, grassy, and mostly shaded. The dump station was in the newer section and was easily accessible. Usually one young man ran the office. He was pleasant and usually around the campground area attending to duties. This is a laid-back operation, but they take good care of things. The beach was excellent!!! Nice and sandy and not very far from our campsite (about 50 yards or less). Town was about 1 mile south and there is a sidewalk most of the way there. We walked into and around town for our morning exercise. Porcupine Mtns. State Park was about 14 miles south, but the park is huge so there is more driving necessary if you want to enjoy the full park. Syl's is a good place to eat. There is a good grocery store on the east side of town along M-38. We camped at Ontonagon Township Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We checked in for 2 nights, ended up staying for 6 nights. Very relaxing, right on shores of Lake Superior. Forty eight miles from Quince Mines (copper) in Hancock, and best pastries in the U.P., at Amy J's in Hancock. They don't take reservations, but if you call in a day or two before your stay, they'll hold a spot for you and charge you for the hold days as well as the days of your stay. Our two rigs stayed side by side in sites 6 & 8 with a hedgerow around both sites, making it seem like a single large site, with a good view of the beach and water. We were on grass (which we prefer). The sites right across from us are sandy sites right on the beach. Park is clean, well kept. Trash emptied twice a day. Showers clean, but coin operated ($.75 for first 6 minutes, 2 minutes for each add'l $.25). Sites 65-70 are grassy AND on the beach; cost $23/night, max stay 14 nights. Good dump site on property. Most westerly section of the Eastern Time Zone. Sun sets during our stay at 9:53 P.M. Young folks water skiing at dusk, 10:30 P.M. Water pressure good. 50 A electric. If you call in, expect an answering machine. They will call you back. We loved it here and will definitely stay again. We camped at Ontonagon Township Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Fantastic camping on a sandy beach on Lake Superior. What more could you want? The park is clean and well maintained. We camped on one of the newer sites that has 50A service and water hookups. These sites are beach-front with a clear view of the lake. The rate quoted is for the beach-front sites; other sites are less. We camped at Ontonagon Township Park and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a city park right on Lake Superior. The rate we paid was for a non-waterfront site. Waterfront sites, I believe were $21.00 and some had limitations on how long you could stay at the site. Sites 65-70 had a 1-week limit, the other waterfront sites had a 2 week limit, I think, didn't pay too much attention to this since we didn't have a waterfront site. We had site 8 which was good because we still had a nice water view. Park is mostly sandy. Beach was very accessible and wide. All roads were sandy. Lots of kids and families here and RVs of all descriptions and size which made the park look, at first glance, a little on the dumpy side, but found it to be a great deal and very scenic. The office was not manned all the time. Trash cans at every site. Dump station was nice. Lots of shade trees. We camped at Ontonagon Township Park and Campground in a Motorhome.
