Typical of the better KOAs. Our section was open pull thrus. There are many seasonal in other sections which are backing with more trees. Overall a nice park, good location near Petoskey. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Motorhome.

Take the ride up MI 119 the Harbor Springs and Cross Village and then work your way north along the lake to Mackinaw City. Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Mackinaw City are all nice towns to walk around.

Very nice campground, easy to book online and check-in was smooth. You are escorted to your site. Our site was paved, back-in with water and electric. A nice dump station is available. Our site was level and had trees. The sites are quite close so if you have noisy neighbors you will hear them. The amenities include swimming pool, hot tub, playground, laundry, pet area, cafe and community room which was locked. The workampers are all very friendly. Be aware that when you leave the park and need to take a left turn, the traffic can be heavy so you might wait a long time. We enjoyed our stay. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy to bike to downtown Petoskey on the flat bike trail across the street from the KOA. But be careful crossing the road. Petoskey Brewing Company is nearbyand has great beer.

Awesome campground. Paved pads, cement patios, level. Grounds are very well taken care of. Cable and WiFi worked perfectly. This alone is impressive because we haven't had good cable or WiFi in other parks. Showers are individual and private. I was talking to a local who brings her family camping here even though they live nearby. Campground is located close to town. I have no complaints! Very pretty campground and they have lots of ammenities including a hot tub! We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites were asphalt, pretty level, nice fire rings, picnic table, park is on a hill. Doggie park is down the hill, but shaded. Wasn't too crowded in the fall. Price high, flowers and staff nice. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Motorhome.

My rate reflects using $50 in points so was a good value. Nice park. Sites are a little too small. I always wonder why when there are lots of empty spots they put you right next to another unit rather than spreading you out when there is room. Close to walking/biking trails but you are not going to see the lake from here. A large seasonal section and lots of cabins. Utilities work fine. Wifi is fast but is Tengo, which is a pain to keep signing on. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Great family KOA. The grounds were well kept and the pool was clean. Showers and laundry areas were very nice. The sites are tight. The only other issue is that one staff member was quite rude. This was certainly not problematic enough to ruin our trip. I would definitely recommend this KOA. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Motorhome.

High-end KOA with lavish landscaping, every conceivable facility, and activities for all ages, such as flashlight lollipop hunts. The high camping cost was figured to be the result of lack of supply, and demand for the last spot in town. At $80 a night, however, our site and the adjacent one had more dust and dirt than grass. Wi-Fi went in and out. Getting a satellite signal was tricky. Vehicle washing was permitted. Verizon service was good. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed for 5 nights - all level sites, paved roads and concrete pads, utilities in convenient locations for most RVs. Ample pull-throughs, cable TV. WiFi works great when you can get connected. Many WiFi zones scattered throughout park, you just have to be skookum and patient to connect (there is a very helpful 1-800 # you can call for assistance.) Great amenities, nice laundry (a bit expensive $2.25 per load). KOA cafe (pizzas, ice cream etc.), but we didn't use. KOA is very convenient to Petosky. Will say that Hwy. 31 is VERY busy with traffic, pick your entry and leave time carefully (no stoplight at exit). Negatives: the pool was not accessible to many guests 55+ because it was overrun by kids, including the hot tub where they are prohibited kids, but not enforced. We asked at the office how to kindly get to the hot tub and staff immediately went out to monitor, but acknowledged they couldn't control it. Unfortunate, because they can, just choose not to. Pool was small for size of park which includes large number of seasonal sites and many cabins. Most poorly managed was trash and recycling. We were not here on a holiday weekend, yet all trash containers and recycling cans were overflowing the entire time. We did see a trash truck come one Friday, but by the afternoon, one container was full again. Clearly do not dump trash and recycle enough to keep up with the size of the park.

May be typical for KOAs but this seems to be overrun by large extended family reunions with many (many) kids, bikes and dogs. This park is not for those looking for quiet, tranquil settings.

On the other hand, it is a nice KOA - probably better then many, and may be quieter on more on the shoulder seasons. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ride your bikes on the Little Traverse Wheelway. 26+ miles from Bay Harbor to Charlevoix. Excellent paved bikeway especially down by Bay Harbor where you ride right along the water. We found numerous Petoskey stones along the shore! During busy times riding your bike to Petoskey instead of your car is much faster on Hwy. 31. The town of Petoskey is fun to explore. Lots of places to leave your bike. Check out Chandler's restaurant, great food!

This is our third year at this KOA and we are never disappointed in the quality or friendliness of the staff. They have added a couple of new outdoor games for the kids and some of the permanent sites are now gone which opened up some additional sites for transients. The park is immaculate and it is very central to many of the activities in Petoskey. It is also only 35-40 minutes from Mackinaw City. The only down side is that they have limited on site activities (like pancake breakfasts, bingo, or other events) We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here because of the great reviews and found the park to be less than well ran. We had to move 3 times in one week due to reserved sites (and saw a lot of others doing the same), so each time we had to pack up, wait for an escort, go to the new site, unpack, etc! They make a show of customer service, but too many of the employees don't seem to know what that means to RVer's. Showers and bathrooms were always clean, but this was done between 7-9 each morning, so we had to wait to go anywhere (most parks we stay at do this after 10 or so each morning). Sites are "KOA close" and some were quite difficult to get into with a large trailer (they seem to enjoy putting large rigs in small sites and small rigs in large sites!) Basically, a pain to stay here because of the way it is run. Getting in and out of park to go places is a real adventure! Highway 31 is pretty busy and there were several accidents right our front! To get to a local bike trail you have to cross the highway, playing froggy. Your heart gets more work out due to that than the bike ride! We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Paved interior roads and pads. Very nice landscaping. Staff was helpful. Secure and gated. There is an off leash dog area, that meets KOA's "worthless" standard. It is a fenced pea gravel area filled with olympic hurdles no dog uses. There is a flat septic field area that would be perfect, but it is unsued. There are plenty of places to walk your dogs but they are in camping spaces. Compared to other decent RV parks in the area, this is a bargain. Note that the highway 31 that fronts the parks if really busy with highspeed traffic. Also, if using GPS use N 45.23.87 W 84.53.64. The street address seems to bring you 2 miles down the road if coming in from the North. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go up M119 thru "tunnel of trees" & eat lunch at Leggs Inn. Very good (Polish) food & unique setting. If you love biking, this is a great area for biking along the lake. There are beaches on Lake Michigan to use a kayak. Lots of places to shop. Mission Lighthouse (2 hours away) is closed due to lead paint removal. Vineyards abound. Note Route 31 coming from the north is a disaster; one of the worst roads we have been on. Further south it is repaved.

Campground is located off US 31. Did not see any direction signs until one at entrance. Camped in a 35 foot 5th wheel on pull through site 85, which is paved, but not level side to side. Small grassy spot & concrete patio. No shade. Like nearly all sites, this one is narrow & very close to neighbors. Easy access to site & room enough for truck. Full hook up with 50 amps. Electric pedestal is in the center of site. Layout of campground is nice; i.e.; circular site groupings & trees create a feeling of a smaller RV park. Pretty flower gardens & friendly, pleasant staff. Good cable TV & WiFi connections. Shower (cramped stalls) & laundry houses clean. Did not use pool, but looked well maintained. Quiet during the night. In addition to very narrow sites, vehicle & rig washing is permitted on sites. On three days of stay an outside cleaning service washed & waxed neighbor's rig. Our truck, patio, & picnic table were sprayed in the process. We could not use picnic table because workmen were immediately adjacent to it, sometimes using it, & getting it wet. Noise from washing & buffing, not to mention the intrusiveness, disrupted a quiet time on our patio. Two sites down another rig was washed. Vehicle cleaning is inappropriate because sites are too close beside each other. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

If only all KOA parks were like this park! Our usual preference is to stay at privately owned parks, but we were lured to this park by the previous excellent reviews. The office staff were most welcoming and helpful as were the employees working around the campsite. We ran in to some dangling branches when initially parking, and the staff responded quickly with branch clippers. The campground appeared to be very family oriented with organized programming for youth and play areas for younger children. The only negative was having to cross a very busy three-lane highway on foot if you wanted access to the bike path. But once on the bike path, you couldn't ask for anything better. We would definitely return to this campground. We camped at Petoskey KOA in a Motorhome.
