We stayed here four nights while visiting the local attractions. We got a site near the beach with an outstanding view across Lake Huron toward Mackinac Island. It was far enough from I-75 to be mostly quiet. But it is a muddy place when it rains, which it did most of our time there. The roads are dirt/mud and the pads are dirt/mud. The park was mostly deserted, as it was late in the season, yet a Class C came in and parked a few feet from our back bumper. Didn't care though as we were gone mostly. I did get in some fine kayacking out in front of the park. We camped at Castle Rock Campark in a Travel Trailer.

We had a Lake Huron-front site with water and electric. Dump station was located at other end of campground - which we frequented often. The lakeview from inside the MH was quite nice. The beach is in need of cleaning and rehabilitation. The water was clear and cool and about 6 inches deep for several hundred feet out. Very buggy when not raining, and it rained just about every day (we like rain!) Easy walking on paved roads within the park. Back-in site was level, not spacious with natural (trees and brush) boundaries. We camped at Castle Rock Campark in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Pleasant hosts who picked up trash several times a day. Sites were quiet, level, and lakefront was picturesque. Decent laundry room with 3 of each. Interior roads were good for walking or biking. A small unkempt playground was available.

We had a lovely week stay at the park right on Lake Huron with a view of Mackinac island. We visited the Island, Soo boat locks, and the falls. Park is clean and we'll maintain. The kids rode bikes, swam on the beach and played disc golf. Restrooms were always clean and we did not have any problems with the showers. We camped at Castle Rock Campark in a Motorhome.

I strongly discourage anyone from staying here. Showers are unclean and water does not stay on. Handicap mother was unable to use showers due to poor function. Beach area is gross and unkempt. Playground is just a bunch of toddler toys. Had company come to visit, they didn't realize that had to pay, was accused of "blowing past" stop sign (which we did stop at) and was kicked out of campground and police threatened to be called. Simply for an innocent mistake. On a positive note, we did stay on site 77 and it was peaceful and tucked back in. I did notice some sites were extremely small making fellow campers overflow into the roads, we did not have this problem. This all is very disappointing because we had hoped to be returning customers. We camped at Castle Rock Campark in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in site 52 right on the lake. All the sites are divided with trees, which I think makes it great. We were taken to our site. As the lake sites are harder to get into with my rig (36' 5th wheel), a staff member backed my rig in, which was great! Great location for all the Mackinaw things plus a short drive to Sault St. Marie. I would stay there again. We camped at Castle Rock Campark in a Fifth Wheel.

This is more like a state park than a privately owned campground. The pluses are the sites are heavily wooded and it is situated on Lake Huron. But the level of the lake was low so there were wide stretches of unappealing coastline. The showers are lousy. There is no temperature control; the shower is either "on" or "off". The water shuts off automatically after a few minutes so you must constantly turn it back on. Shower curtains were missing on 3 out of the 4 showers. Many sections of the roads are all dirt with no gravel. We camped at Castle Rock Campark in a Motorhome.

Fee includes $8 day use fee. We really enjoyed this very basic state park. Our site was perfectly fine, but the views of the bridge were gorgeous. It was especially lovely as the sun set. Not a terribly dog-friendly park--no good "official" exercise areas (and no dogs on the beach--too bad we didn't see that sign until after we'd been once). Bridge traffic is audible, but not bad at all. We would return, but wish campers were not assessed the additional day use fee. We camped at Castle Rock Campark in a Motorhome.

Although this park is listed as big rig friendly, you need to be very careful of the trees. It took a couple of 3 point corners for our 38 ft RV to successfully navigate the roads to our site. Exiting the park was extremely easy though. Large sites were very wooded and grassy. We were charged an extra $5 per night to run our air conditioner even though they only had 30 amp power. The price without the air was $30. We camped at Castle Rock Campark in a Motorhome.

Most sites are shady, with trees between sites providing privacy. Many sites are small, basically tent sites, but a few would accommodate a big rig (one 40 foot motorhome in the park now). Staff very friendly. Convenient to Hwy 75 and Mackinac Island. Nice views of Lake Huron. We camped at Castle Rock Campark in a Fifth Wheel.
