Great campground for watching the ships on the St. Mary's River, but an average private campground with crowded sites otherwise. If you are there to watch the ships, any site along the River is fine: there is a lawn for viewing between you and the River. Otherwise, you will have to carry your chair and cut through someone else's site to get a good view.

I think site 38 is perfect: the back is against an inlet and the driver's side is parallel to the River; get this site if it is available.

In general the sites are very close, utilities are good, many local TV stations, satellite friendly (little tall tree cover) and the dump stations works with the exception of a leaky faucet that sprays you. The showers are free to campers, and are clean, but need to be updated.

Had to call to make a reservation: no online services available. All sites are back-in/pull-in. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The best bargain is the free two story observation deck and visitor center right at the Soo Locks: part of a public park. The tour of the Valley Camp, a retired 500 foot freighter, was interesting and worth the entrance fee. It is right up the street from the CG. The Soo Locks boat tour was a little pricey for what it is.

I did not enjoy my stay at this park. woke up by the campers next to us hammering nails to wood at midnight, this lasted until two in the morning, then he was in and out of the park several times between five and six in the morning with a loud diesel truck. when staff was told about this disturbance nothing was done and no apology was given. staff is rude, the signs posted everywhere are rude and the free wifi doesn't even work. I will never go back to this park and would not recommend it to anyone. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Tent.

We stayed here for the location, which is fantastic if you're a boat watcher. It also is very close to town, and easy to get to attractions. The sites however are narrow and they allow up to 6 people per site. We had 3 families with kids all living within about 50 feet, tents nearly touching our picnic table, and kids and adults continually walking the very few feet behind our camper, practically tripping over our legs when we tried to sit and watch the river. (site 36) Although that was a "neighbor issue", the narrow sites made it seem more like we were intruding on their families to even try be outside. Other sites are no doubt better. WIFI was spotty but functional. Facilities were clean. The site was muddy at the time. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We had RV site #21 which was located on a small rise that overlooked the canal where SLC's fishing pier and docks are located. We had great views watching all the freighters on St Mary's river heading to/from the Soo Locks and Lake Superior. The WiFi was located in a building just next door so we had good reception. SLC's RV sites, utilities, grounds, security coded shower/restroom building, laundry, dump sites were all well maintained. The office had a small store that sold basic camping supplies, ice, etc. Their lounge area had free coffee. SLC was fairly busy during the daytime with several RV's coming and going everyday but was peaceful and quiet in the evenings. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for one month last year and two weeks this year. Stayed in site 8 which is up near the road. Not many pick the sites up near the road so we felt we had a spacious area. No sewer but electric and water. Used our Blue Boy when necessary. So many things to see and do in this area. Love this place. The owners and staff will help you with anything and they keep this lovely campground in great shape. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Motorhome.

Soo Locks was wonderful. Antler's Restaurant and Clyde's Drive In were great. Watching the freighters pass by on their way to the locks was awesome. Several day trips in your vehicle are within reach. Valley Camp, Tower of History, and Soo Locks Boat Tours were fantastic and right next to the Soo Locks Campground.

The positive is that the campground is right on the water near the locks and you can see the ships go by. The sites are very tight, we couldn't even extend our awning. The RVs were parked in an asphalt parking lot with the hookups up a step behind the rigs. I had to use an extension on the electric it was so far away. Low amps available. Wi-Fi only good at clubhouse. Staff was rude and constantly looking for anything to complain about. There was a "coffee room" but our group, all seniors, were forbidden to use it because it was for the "seasonal people", even though the room sat empty most of the time. We as a group, travel for months and this is the rudest park we have ever seen. Basically, I would only recommend it for a quick visit and only then if you plan on dry camping--we were told we used too much electric because we have big rigs--it was cool, we were using gas for heat, we had no ac on. So ??There is a lovely city RV park about a half mile away. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is right on the St. Mary's River and the sites really vary. We stayed in #54 and watched freighters go by out the windshield. Not everyone was so fortunate-some of the sites are blocked views and one row is all gravel so choose carefully. The rules are posted and taken seriously but they are reasonable so were not a problem. We would stay there again. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Motorhome.

The CG is a short bike ride to downtown and the locks. It's the perfect place to boat watch. Get a burger at the West Pier drive-in and plan on spending time on the Valley Camp. It's a great museum.

The Soo Locks CG is wonderfully situated on the waterfront. The sites at the water's edge are, for a motorhome, pull-in spaces with a wonderful view. They aren't huge, but they are perfectly adequate in width with plenty of grass, especially in front. The sites in the middle of the park, those in the 2nd and 3rd rows back, are on asphalt and are tight. If all were occupied by Class A motorhomes with slides on 2 sides, you could not extend your awning. That being said, it is still an attractive park. Even the asphalt sites have grass with tables between the two rows. The price at $30/night (7th night free) are reasonable for the area. Only 30amp electric and water, no FHU sites, but there is a double-sided dump station. Pull-in and back-in, but no pull-thru sites. The park is well-maintained and clean, the laundry room adequate and reasonably priced. The free WiFi is too easily overloaded and needs to be upgraded, I hope soon. Verizon works well, and DISH satellite has a clear S-SW view from nearly all sites. We will return. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Motorhome.

The river traffic is fun to watch. Take a chair to the water's edge and relax. Walmart and Meijer's are about 2 miles away, and many other national chains as well. Plenty of local merchants and restaurants are worth visiting too.

I guess you get what you pay for and in this case ..wasn't much!! Ok for an overnight stay but wouldn't recommend any longer. The showers were aweful had to fight with a shower curtain the whole time. The fire pit was horrible not only in size but location. Located to the rear left of our motorhome which makes absolutely no sense at all. The site was tiny our outside rug was actually larger than the site we had to fold it smaller to fit onsite. The holes in the grass that we did have were large and should be filled in I really almost twisted my ankle. The owner was rude. He didn't have time to introduce himself or even wave until he seen that my dog wasn't leashed (please note, I am blind, this is a seeing eye dog that listens to my every command) he did have time to tell me it would be a $500 fine if not leashed. By this time we had already been there 3 days and I wasn't about to take the time to explain to him that this is a trained Seeing Eye dog. When we left this morning hubby and I went to dump our tanks and the hoses to spray out your waste hose didn't work so we get to clean up that mess when we get home this afternoon. All in all... I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and definitely will not return. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Motorhome.

If you want somewhere nice to stay in this beautiful town you must eat at least one time at Franks restaurant. OMG best food and service ever!! We ate there 5 times in our 5 day stay and it was great each time. I loved the area, just hated the campground.

Love the location. We had a spot right on the river. Beautiful. Showers were very clean with good pressure and lots of hot water. We are Elks and Legion members and we could walk to both. Lots of grass for walking the dog. Picnic table and fire ring. If they had a sewer hookup it would be a 10. And at our site the electric was on one side and the water on the other. That was a bit of a pain. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Motorhome.

Downtown is a great Greek restaurant, Zorba's. Pure Country Restaurant on business spur I-75 is good for breakfast and lunch. There is a K-Mart nearby this restaurant. If you go south of CG to see the ships go thru the Nebbish Cut, try Country Corners Restaurant. Excellent soups!

This park is located on the waterfront very close to the Soo Locks, a major visitor attraction. It is a tight little park but pleasant enough for a night or two. We stayed here on a beautiful night in late September and it was almost full despite the lateness of the season, so think about reservations. This CG is very close to another one, Aune Osborne, but seemed to us to be a little nicer (but similar). You can see the lake and the huge carriers passing by from almost every site, which is interesting and pleasant. Our site was in the back of the CG under some trees and it was not level at all, but most of the sites closer to the lake are paved and very level. We chose our site because it wasn't as close to neighbors - the lakefront sites are very close. We camped at Soo Locks Campground in a Motorhome.

Also, if you have time visit the Canadian side of Sault St. Marie and notice the great views from the bridge.

We stayed here for a couple of days in late September.
Great place to watch all the activity in the river.
Very friendly and helpful staff,
Individual sites are a little tight and the lack of sewer connection at each site is a bit of a drawback. However they have a dumps that's easy to use if you need to. We had so much fun watching the freighters that the few inconveniences were easily overlooked. If your interested in the big ships there are several websites that track them,
