We stayed in the East campground, sites 34, 36, and 28. All were very deep and had a good level grassy area for the trailers. Great place to walk the park and trails. Many places to get to the water and sand to start swimming. Visited Fayette and Palm Book State Parks along with the town for shopping. Two lighthouses, water tower, fish hatchery, Siphon Bridge and 2 mile boardwalk made the area interesting. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

This has become one of our favorites with its magnificent lake and sunset views. It was quiet and all the roaming room we needed with our pooch. Well cared for, best deal. Water available. Some sites are beach accessible if you have small craft. Excellent day use picnic area and boat launch. On the weekend it could be crowded but still enough room for everyone. Can't wait to return! We intended to camp at the main (east) unit of Indian Lake State Park, but when we arrived at the gate, a sign noted it was closed for construction. (Apparently they are building a new gatehouse and redoing the road inside the campground.) So we headed for the west unit instead. For a one-night stay, we could do without campground showers. The west unit has only pit toilets and no showers and we found a delightful gem of a campground. Heavily wooded, though trees are trimmed back enough from most of the campground roads that most loops (particularly the campsites numbered upwards of 50) have some sites that big rigs can fit into without fear of turning into a tree. The pit toilets are fairly new: one set was brand-new this year and were very clean and well vented (not smelly at all). Electric hookups are 20-amp only, and each loop has a water source, at least 2 located near the road should you need to fill your tank on entry. All sites on natural ground, so dusty/sandy in dry weather, probably somewhat muddy in wet weather. Lots of shade, and sites are spacious. For $16/night (if you already have the Michigan state parks entry sticker), it's a bargain, at least for the upper Midwest. Very quiet at midweek too. We would definitely stay again, unless weather was hot enough to need a/c. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Always a nice park to visit, although the sites are on the smaller side. If tent camping one needs to get a site to the south side of the campground on higher ground. Have camped here during a rainy period and the sites in the north central area were floating in a pond which had appeared overnight. Lake is wonderful place to swim and fish. Sandy bottom for children. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Tent.Undo

We have stayed at several Michigan state parks in the past and this one is not quite as nice as the others we have seen. The rest rooms are older and the sites are small. There are only a few small trees so it helps your view of the lake but leaves no privacy from other campers. One night a group was playing their music quite loud and the kids were very loud until about 11:30pm. Usually at the state parks the rangers take care of this quickly and usually no late than 10pm. The lake is wonderful for swimming. Very sandy and very shallow so the kids can walk out anywhere and go out about 50 yards and still easily stand. The education staff has different activities for adults and children and is very friendly. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.Undo
