The park itself was very clean. Unfortunately, the restrooms were not that clean. We stayed in the newest part, without shade. During the day, that was very hot, but after sunrise, the wind made it far much better than in the woods. We had a spacious place with a big fire ring. We did not hear any noise from the highway at all. The WiFi was very unstable, especially in the evening, we were not able to read e-mail anymore.

Nearby the picnic shelter was a BBQ situated, which we used to cook on.

The campstore has everything one needs when he forgot something.

The Silver Lake is beautiful. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Sites are reasonably spaced and have gravel pads with paved interior roads. Most of gravel around the RV and picnic table with some grass and landscaping for nearly all sites. Wifi is poor to unusable in the campground but works well if you go to the office area. Hookups are well placed and easy to use. This is a very large park with many monthly users and some have purchased memberships. It is very busy and weekends need a reservation. There is no pool but some swimming in the lake. Lake front lots are available but expensive as they cost extra. Laundry room was available but we didn't use it. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Traverse City is a tourist Mecca so it is very busy. The park is within easy distance of Sleeping Bear Dunes Natl. Seashore an you should see it. It is also an easy drive to Petoskey and several other interesting areas.

There are few private RV parks in Traverse City. Most of the parks are state parks with electric only and which are not financially favorable to out of state travelers - think lots of fees. So we chose Holiday as a base camp for exploring. In hindsight, we would most likely stay somewhere on or near the Leelanau Peninsula as we spent a lot of time there and on the Old Mission Peninsula. Unless you take back roads from Holiday, which is okay but slower, you have to go through downtown which can be quite congested. Mixed feelings about this park. As other have mentioned there are different sections. Some by the lake (very few and it's a tight loop with tight sites), some wooded and some (I guess the newer ones) that are pretty much out in the open but close together. There is nice greenery around but all the sites had weeds growing in the gravel. We stayed in a wooded site which was gravel, long and level. Much roomier here than any of the other sections. It was a nice space where we could easily put out our wide awnings and have plenty of room for chairs and tables. The trees provided decent coverage from the heat of the sun, and oddly, we were still able to get satellite coverage. The strange part was the placement of the fire pit. It was in the back near various objects like a tire and some other stuff that was covered with a tarp. The downsides are WII FI and noise. The WII FI was pretty useless even with our WII FI extender. It was either up or down and 90% of the time down. The noise from Highway 31 is constant and loud during the day which makes sitting outside loud. What a shame because the weather was really nice and there were very few bugs. We could also hear the thumping of music at different times of the day. We think it was coming from boats on the lake but we never quite figured it out. Our price reflects a weekly rate which is overpriced for what you get. We most likely would not stay here again. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Lots of great wineries in the area. We favor dry reds and quite a few wineries had at least one.

We stayed for one week at the Holiday Park. Absolutely beautiful park. The lake is beautiful, the marsh area had sandhill cranes and their baby. The sites were large, easy to back into, our sewer needed to be flushed but someone came immediately to fix it. The staff was friendly and very responsive. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Traverse City is very pretty. Old Mission Peninsula has wonderful wineries for afternoon wine tastings.

Deering's Market in Traverse City has the best homemade jerky and meats, cheeses and wine selection.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park is very nice to see.

Price reflects seasonal rate. This is our third summer staying here. This is a tale of two camp grounds. The old part of the campground is nestled in the woods with lots of shade and some sites are on Silver Lake. The campsites in this part of the park are mostly owned (longtime lease with the park) by individuals and are not open to overnight campers unless the owner is not using the site. The new part of the park is on the flat west of the lake. Several trees have been planted in this part of the park, but will take several years before they are as tall as they are in the other part of the park. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. There is little road noise as the sites are quite far from US31. The park is well maintained and very clean. Garbage is picked up twice daily and there are several cans situated around the park. The park is dog friendly although here is no dog run, but there are many open areas where you can walk your dog on a leash. The cable offers around 59 channels and is clear. The wifi is better than most, but is still very slow. I had a very strong signal with my Verizon wireless. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground that is owned by 125 of the seasonal campers. They occupy the prime sites right on the lake but do rent them out when they aren't there. There are other basic sites available in other newer areas of the park but try for one of the sites in one of the circles by the lake. We were there late in the season and most of the owner's sites were available. Very clean, well manicured park. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You can bike and walk around in this large campground but it is located on a busy road so no option to bike there. Try dinner at Harringtons in traverse city. Lots of great dining and shopping options on Front St in downtown TC. Great wineries to try on Old Mission Peninsula, Bonobo is a new winery owned by Carter Oosterhouse of HGTV. Black Star Winery is a must visit, beautiful property, good wine and dining. Plan day trips to sleeping bear sand dunes, Leland, lunch at the Cove in Fishtown.

We stayed here at the end of the season, so it was kind of quiet. We did not have a lake site, but did go over there to check it out. This is a very nice, well cared for park. The front & lake sites are wooded, the newer area is open with young trees. The spots were decent sizes. The wifi was good, but the park was not crowded. We had good cell service- Verizon. The location of this park was good for sightseeing in Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Charlevoix, Petowsky. They had a large laundry room with plenty of washers & dryers & reasonably priced. We would definitely return if in the area. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground off Rte 31. Easy check-in, friendly staff and nice campstore, but very basic. Sites were large, and extremely well groomed, and level. Convenient trash disposal in each section. Great campground for biking or walking. Many seasonal here, but they keep their sites beautifully! Nice playgrounds throughout the park. Nice lake beach, easy to go boating or kayaking. No problem with satellite despite being in a semi wooded area. Cable was good, as was Wi-Fi. Many activities and stores cl I see by including Interlochen Golf Club, which was a very nice course, and 2 Casinos. Good laundry facilities. Many places to eat and shop. Very nice campground! This is a good park. We spent 2 weeks here and were very pleased. Site was plenty long and wide. The back end was higher than the rest of the site, so had to pull forward more than I wanted to, but it worked out. Utilities are fine and well positioned. Cable TV was adequate and better than most. Biggest negative is the WIFI. It is intermittent and generally not reliable. This section of the park is open to the sky, so satellite reception is good. Most of the park is in the trees, so satellites would not be accessible. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice park - well maintained, great landscaping and spacious sites. We were in site 1 and were the closest site to the main road and some residual road noise - but it slowed down at night and wasn't a problem for us. There are many sites located away from the road that would definitely not be a problem. Beautiful lakefront access and many sites on the lake. Perfect park for touring Traverse City, Sutton's Bay, etc. We would definitely stay here again if we venture back to this area. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. Sites up on "the Plateau" were close but not terrible. Sites in older parts of the park seemed to have more room. There are some excellent sites in the sections under the trees and some of these have lake views. "The Plateau" is the newest section and probably the least desirable of them all. We had W/E/S/C. Facility is clean and easy to get in and out. Very big rig friendly. One thing that seemed very strange was the placement of the fire rings. They are located toward the front of the sites and right on the "line" between the sites. I thought a fire ring belonged to our site and we didn't plan a fire so I wasn't worried about parking close. I actually had to move my rig after the first night because it turns out it was the neighbor's ring. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We drove in without a reservation during the height of the season, and they found a spot for us. The park is beautiful, with a nice pond and wetland with trails. It was easy to walk our dogs right by our site, and they provide bags that are easy to find in many places. We didn't use any of the park's other features, as we only stayed one night, but we would return again. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park. This is some kind of membership park. Most of the lake sites were taken with seasonal or airstream rentals. I think most of the transients are placed on the "Ridge" or "Plateau" sites. We were in the "Plateau" sites and we were pleased. Sites are spaced nicely with a nice green space in between the roads. Friendly employees and a nicely managed park. Only negative, as usual is the wifi. Great place to walk or jog. We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the newer section in a pull-through site. All sites in this section are generously spaced and are well landscaped, however, the trees are still young and don't provide any shade. All grounds were well maintained. Easy in and easy out of camp sites. (Not sure about exact rate) We camped at Holiday Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
