This is a good campground. The owners of the past two years have put effort and resources into upgrading sites, and sounded both proud of their campground, and dedicated to further improvements. We stayed here two nights as a stop between other destinations, in a 35 foot fifth wheel, in a "pull-trough" site that was recently improved to be more level. This is definitely a get-back-to-nature setting. Lots of woods, and reports of wildlife - though we didn't see any while there. No Wifi; no cable; poor cell phone reception; but if it's a woodsy experience you're looking for, this place is great. We camped at Elkwood Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Some tips about the way into this place: your GPS may try to get you off Molineaux Rd - DON'T. Molineaux Rd becomes Lance Rd after it rounds a lake - stay on Molineaux. The last "3/4 mile" is gravel. Some report it's badly wash-boarded; it was fine when we took it. Good Sam Directory of 2013 lists "Caution: Steep Roads" - well, that final gravel approach road is a hill, but it's not a "steep" grade to any familiar with steep grades. We had no problem up or down.

Have stayed here before and always enjoyed my stay. Quiet and peaceful, with enough room for larger rigs and motor homes. Nice location, not far from Mackinaw area or Petoskey without all the congestion of staying there. Elk frequent the property, so get up early and go for a walk, you won't be disappointed! We camped at Elkwood Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Our paddle group stayed here, and the very nice owner gave us a whole section to camp in. It appears that they did a lot of upgrading in the past few years; the sites are spacious and shaded (but not very level); the interior roads are gravel and smooth - but the 3/4 mi gravel public road leading to this park is "washboarded to the max". (Certainly not the RV Park's fault). To its credit - it's a wonderfully quiet place; we heard Loons calling in the distance as we sat around the campfire. The owner mentioned that the economy has been bad, and he might not have the park open past July. By all means, call to make sure this place is open before arriving! We camped at Elkwood Campground in a Motorhome.

Gravel road to approach. A work in progress. Staff very friendly. Off the beaten path, but agreed to the Passport rate which made it easier to swallow. We camped at Elkwood Campground in a Motorhome.

We looked on the internet as saw very nice pictures of a grassy campground. We booked our sites and when we arrived we found a very dry sandy open campground that turned into a dust bowl every time a car drove by. The pool is a mile from the campsites and the road to the campground was dirt and hilly. This campground was not what we like and we left. The owners were very nice and gave us a full refund. I would never return. We camped at Elkwood Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
