Saying we stayed there is a loose statement. We arrived at 6:30 pm on Friday. Upon checking in we were told that the site we had booked was flooded and they have moved us to another site. Our first concern was will it fit our 32 foot motor home and a jeep. They assured us there was plenty of room. So we paid for our site based on their honesty. We went to our site to find the fire pit under water and the rest of the site shall we say very wet but not under water. I think we would have fit but our unit would be right at the road. For us the fire pit is a huge deal since we do ALL our meals over the fire. So with that being said we went back up to the office to explain that that site was unacceptable. The owner laughed at us when we asked if we could have a refund. He said they moved us to an acceptable site. ( by who's standards) We asked why they didn't call us ahead of time as to the situation? Again he said we did you didn't answer your phone? There was no message left on our three phones. This was by far the worst customer service we have received in the 25 years of camping. With that we left with a 100.00 camping charge on our charge card. And the owner making a gesture of playing a fiddle and calling my husband ass for asking for a refund. I can say the wifi doesn't work by the office and verizon doesn't have cell service there. The reason I do know that is, I had to wait to get out of the bluffs to call our charge card and file a claim against them. And hour and half later we were back at home. Not the best camping weekend. We camped at Lazy-D Campground & Trail Rides in a Motorhome.

Lazy D Campground was the only option available to me due to me not trying to make reservations until one month prior to Memorial Day weekend. With that being said, the customer service on the telephone was very helpful, she gave me great directions on how I should approach the campground with my trailer (34' total length) and the site I would be staying in.

Our biggest cons about the park were the proximity to the highway. There was a lot of road noise. This wasn't much of a problem though, because when the air conditioning was running, we couldn't hear it much. However, it was still noticeable. Another major con was the dump site. There was only one dump site, and it was located by the office, which isn't normally a bad thing. However, being on the half of the grounds across the river, there was no access to the dump without exiting and trying to re-enter the grounds, and that is a lot of tight turns with a 34' trailer. We ended up using an off-site dump-station. They did claim to have WiFi, but we were unable to pick it up in our location. I had great AT&T service, but my neighbors had no cell service with Verizon.

The pros were, in direct conflict with some of the other reviews, the staff was very friendly. They have a lot of amenities: a heated pool, a bouncing pillow, rental tricycles, tube rentals for the river, and so on. On Sunday, they even had free ice cream, which was very nice!

Overall, Lazy D gets a good review. We wouldn't be opposed to staying here again, but we will probably continue to explore other grounds in the area. We camped at Lazy-D Campground & Trail Rides in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed here several times over the years. Lazy D has a swimming pool, has campsites right on the Whitewater river, and has water available at each site. There is enormous variation between campsites at Lazy D so it's of vital importance that you understand what you're getting when making a reservation. Some sites have river frontage while most do not. Some are shallow. Some are on paved loops while others are on gravel. Due to the road layout the sites near the office are high traffic. Most sites are grass although a few had a gravel parking pad. Some sites, though large enough for big rigs, have tight turns on the access roads, while others have good accessibility. Some of the sites are set up with a shared water and electric pedestal serving two adjacent sites, which means that it's on the wrong side of the RV for one of the sites. If you're in one of these you'll need a longer electric cord and water hose than usual. There are a substantial number of seasonal sites, more than shown on the map. These sites are well maintained and occupied by rigs in good condition. Few of the sites are 50a, mostly just seasonal ones. We had a 30a site. Our loop lost power when the loop breaker tripped even though the loop was not fully occupied. Voltage dropped below 110 a couple of times. It appears to me that the campground, or at least parts of it, don't really have enough electricity by present-day standards. Management was friendly and organized. Most of the campground has tree cover. The campground has a history of flooding and there is some risk of flash floods. We stayed hitched up so that we could leave quickly if necessary. We camped at Lazy-D Campground & Trail Rides in a Travel Trailer.

Big sites. Good shade in most sites. Friendly staff in the office/store. Nice scenery down in the bluff country. Cell phone service was not available. TV reception was also not gonna happen. Will stay at again. We camped at Lazy-D Campground & Trail Rides in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This private campground is within approximately 1/2 mile of Whitewater State Park and provides an alternative with a swimming pool and the waterfront within easy walking distance of the campsites. The campground straddles the Whitewater River. The two banks are joined by a footbridge, with separate road access to each side. Many sites are right on the waterfront, with others being but a stone's throw away. A medium-sized outdoor pool, a store with a modest inventory, a shower building, and a museum housing the owners' collection of carriages, buggies and related ephemera complete the grounds. Approximately one third of the RV sites are occupied by seasonal or monthly campers. A few of these have sewer connections, but in contrast to the listings in some publications, sewer connections are not available to campers staying for less than a season. The RV sites all have water and electric. The sites are, generally, level, about 40' wide, and 50' deep or more. There are no pull through sites. There is good tree cover with most sites in partial shade throughout the day. The staff and facilities are overwhelmed during peak holiday periods when the campground is occupied to full capacity. The campground was flooded several years ago. Travelers should keep the possibility of flash floods in mind due to the proximity of the river. The staff arranges various activities for guests. We did take advantage of the trail rides, which were well organized, on time, and on truly enjoyable terrain. The horses provided for these rides were however well into their autumn years and the artless dunning for tips at the conclusion of the ride was unexpected and detracted from our memory of the experience.
