This is a lovely state park that we've stayed at repeatedly over the years. We had reservation for 8 nights this time. Everything was as good as usual except we had lousy loud neighbors one night. When my husband asked them to quiet down, he was called every name in the book. When we talked to the park staff about this the next morning, it became clear she was friends with our lousy neighbors. She was unable to be objective about their abusive inflammatory language. We're not enthused about returning to Scenic with staff who can't appropriately sort out camper's issues. Furthermore, it's become clear that during fall camping, there's no staff in the parks after 4 PM. The lack of staff never concerned us until we encountered our abusive neighbor. By the way, the next morning (after a sleepless night) we moved to another campsite which was nice and quiet. We camped at Scenic State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park with clean restrooms. Friendly staff. Nice hiking trails available. Good fishing on the lake. Some of the electric sites are a bit close together, but they are all pull-through. Good access to the dump station. We camped at Scenic State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice State Park on a lake. We camped in the non electric (Lodge) loop. Lodge loop can be a bit difficult with large RV. Turns are tight and trees need to be trimmed back a bit to allow access. Not very much privacy in between sites. Showers and rest room are very clean. Dump station is easy to access. Staff is friendly. We camped at Scenic State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Among the nicer state parks with a layout that allows access to major amenities without having to drive. There are docks, boat launching facilities, and a beach within walking distance of the main campground, as well as the trail heads for the more interesting walks. We found the access roads and corners somewhat narrow for our 30' trailer but were able to make do and the sites themselves are sufficient for longer rigs. Like many Minnesota state parks, the water is shut off unnecessarily early, presumably for the convenience of the staff, and so we had to use our own water and find a dump station on the road. We camped at Scenic State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice campground. There are two campgrounds. We stayed in the Chase Point campground, in one of the sites closest to the lake - the campground road and a row of trees are between the site and the lake. Very roomy and isolated sites. Nice trees, and a nice distance between sites. Excellent hiking trails and a lake with canoe rental made for a very pleasant 5 night stay. No electric sites were available for our entire 5 day stay, so my only criticism would be they should add more electric sites. Great Minnesota north land camping; dark nights, excellent starry skies, loons and other water birds calling on the lakes. We camped at Scenic State Park in a Tent Trailer.

This is a lovely State Park! On the maps, it looks like sites 1 to 8 overlook Coon Lake - but there is a row of dense trees between the road and the lake so you won't have a view. Sites 1 through 41 seem a bit smaller but would be fine for tents or pop-ups. 5th wheels, large TT, and Motorhomes will do best in sites 43 to 69 (This is all in the Chase Point Campground). These sites are generally level and wide enough to support slides. Personal preference is to avoid #50, 51 & 60. 52 - 58 are really nice for larger units (no low tree branches, good entrance/exit, and nice site). Facilities were modern, clean and pleasant. The hiking was wonderful - both along the lake as well as in the hills. The hike out to Chase Point is well worth the time - fantastic view from there (we took our lunch, sat on benches at the point, and had a great time). Good "northwoods smell" - pine trees. Very nice boardwalk on the lake between sites 5 and the boat launch - great for meditating!! Row boats/canoes available for $10/hr - wonderful boating lake! Large stand of 200+ year old pine trees up by Pine Lake (about 5 mile round-trip hike). Grounds generally bug-free (thanks to the wonderful bats!) On a clear night, millions of stars are visible over the lake as it is pitch black in the campground and no big cities nearby. Average-to-poor cell phone and Blackberry coverage. We camped at Scenic State Park in a Motorhome.
