Overall Rating:

Admittedly, this was our first stay as a seasonal camper. While we have stayed a long time before at another place, we knew from a previous shorter stay what to expect. To prepare for this trip we exchanged calls and e-mails with the owners before making the decision. On-line reviews were good and using Google Earth the place seemed okay. First, the good news. We never lost power during the time there. However, the loss of water pressure occurred three times and each time we were unable to contact mgt. and had to leave voicemails. The problems were taken care of. We signed a lease, however that was basically a waste of paper. The rules stated a two-vehicle limit. What we encountered was multiple vehicles and boats at many sites creating maneuvering issues on the roads. Trees and shrubs not being maintained and as the summer wore on lots of scratches on our vehicle. The owners are running the place like its a hobby, as they have full-time jobs off-site and are completely unaware of what goes on at the "Resort." Roads are dirt and rock filled and when it rains as it often did, water is everywhere. Once you leave the paved road into the "resort" you pass through a sand pit and drive on a narrow road with rocks, hills, and blind spots to your site. Dogs running off lease and doing their business anywhere they please as well as barking at all times. Trash dumpsters were located in the sandpit and was picked up weekly. Twice a week would have been better. Access to the MS River was non-existent due to grass at the ramp and the canoe/kayak input area was broken. Grass trail access was unusable as the summer wore on due to a lack of maintenance. We finally left two months early and the rate reflects that. We camped at Rugged River Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Nine miles to a grocery store and laundry. Once you get past the in and out obstacles of the "resort" there are numerous things to do from that area. MS Headwaters, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and state parks.
