The park overall is beautiful. It has a nice mixture of woods and prairie, and of course lots of walking trails near and along the St. Croix river. The campground, like most state park campgrounds, is not so friendly to modern day RVs. We have a 29' travel trailer. The campground is densely wooded, so we had a hard time backing into our site with trees all along the road. Once in our site we found we had to make a decision; do we want the awning out on a rainy weekend, or do we want the kitchenette slide-out out? There was a tree just a couple of feet from the front side of the camper so we wouldn't have been able to open the awning. We pulled ahead as far as we could and were able to get the awning out, but then the power box was directly behind our slide-out. The sites are very secluded from your neighbors. Very few sites have any grass. Most are dirt and are quite small, so if you want to play any yard games you'll have to drive to the picnic area. - Juniper94

Nice campground with friendly staff. Easy access for big rigs. Park has 2 pull-through sites in the non-electric loop. 50 amp sites are available. Dump station has very easy access. Lots of hiking trails. Lots of wildlife viewing. Clean restrooms / showers. - sclark
May 2014 - $26.00
Very nice state park. Lots of room between campsites. This park can accommodate large rigs but as mentioned you need to take care from low hanging branches. Staff is friendly. One of our favorite state parks. - sclark

When we got here on a Thursday, the park was about 1/4 full. But by Friday night the place was packed with the weekend crowd and by Sunday afternoon was again 1/4 full. And they all had lots of kids. This park is really geared towards little kids with games and activities hosted by the park. The pool was way too crowded to go into. The sites are the side-by-side type with a shared utilities in between. The WIFI was touch and go. Bathrooms are clean. I did not like that they charge an extra $5 for a dog even though they do not have a dog park, but they do have several locations of clean up bags. - akeller156
Mar 2016 - $35.00
We stayed last summer while our house was being worked on for a month. For our purpose it worked out, but if we were doing a normal RV trip would only stay a day or two. The surrounding area has a lot to offer and see. On highway 8 from Lindstrom to Taylor Falls is great. The campground is a field with no shade and the sites are close. The older part of the park needs some work. - Traveler II
Sep 2013 - $50.00
I was expecting more for the price. The sites are close together and have baby trees so not much shade in the newer section. We camped here with a group and they royally messed up one parties reservations so they were very far removed from the group and couldn't figure out how to fix it. It was very disappointing and sort of soured our weekend. The playground and pool are fairly far away and very old and rundown. I was told the bathrooms were decent but I didn't personally use them because we had a full hook up site. The old guy on the golf cart playing campground cop was rude and accused us of stealing a picnic table from another site, which he later found at someone else's site. They did do Halloween in Aug/Sept so the kids liked that - but it was across the campground by the seasonals so we had to drive over there with the little ones. - LoveShack

Sep 2017 - $23.00
Nice State Park Campground. We arrived about 6:30 PM on a Tuesday and the staff was about to close the office for the day. They were very helpful with maps and directions to the site we had reserved online. The site was not level but we were able to level with our blocks. The road (loop) was tight in a couple places for our truck and 32' trailer, but was manageable. The park was only about 10 to 15% occupied and was fairly quite. It is close to the highway and traffic noise is present but it did quite down after dark. - N8MD
Jun 2016 - $31.00
Not big rig friendly. Road construction causes major confusion in signage from the east. We finally followed signs for the campground and within feet of the road closed sign turned the rig around. No signs said go to dead end and turn left. Sites regardless of length stated by phone or on website are big enough for 40 ft motorhomes. Site was so narrow with trees only 1 slide could go out due to tree trunks and limbs. I called and spoke with staff on 3 occasions that we were lost and they were very polite but really missed the opportunity to provide better directions. This is a lovely area but size of spaces, narrow roads inside campground, and extreme difficulty in finding the entrance made it an unpleasant visit. - Guinevere
Oct 2014 - $33.00
This was an amazing, and fun experience. "Interstate" refers to the fact half of the park is on the Minnesota side of the St Croix river and half on the Wisconsin side. We camped on the Minnesota side. Here there are mostly electric sites (sites directly abutting the river are non-electric). Site 20 has a lovely view, but you are terribly close to Site 19. 21 has the best view but is tent-only and non-electric. Most of the sites were not level. Our site sloped a bit but I have blocks to raise front wheels and that helped. Bath house is very well maintained. There are a Ton of people here on weekends because of the marvelous hiking trails. During midweek, we had this whole park almost to ourselves. It was lovely. There are boat rides and canoe rentals nearby. Hike 1.25 mi North to the visitor center and tour the most amazing potholes! 10,000 years ago the St Croix River was one of the largest rivers in the world. At over 200' deep it carved out the river bed from igneous rock and, in doing so, created huge circular holes in the bedrock. You must see it to believe it! We drove over to the Wisconsin side of the park. They have a Northern and a Southern camping area neither of which exceeded what we had on the Minnesota side. Their entire South campground was non-electric (some lovely sites). The North campground was partial electric. Some of the best sites were right next to the bath house. Rate of $33 = $23 for camping + $5 electricity + $5 for park use permit. Good Verizon signal in the campground (and throughout the park) for both Internet data (4G) and cellular. Lots of hungry raccoons so keep your campsite clean of edibles! I'd come here again. Next time, allow more time for hiking the trail, take a boat ride on the river, and relax. - AndersonFamily

The campground was wonderful. Private and heavily wooded. A few of the sites are a bit hilly and difficult to back into with a long motorhome but doable. Seems that the Savanna side seems newer and sites are a bit more spaced apart than the Riverside camping area. Fabulous campground but the showers are in serious need of ventilation, painting and deep cleaning- preferably with bleach! Black mold and looks like green algae growing on the walls in the showers. - NanciRV

We love this place. Camp there every year. Lake Alice is a great place to swim and the trails are just perfect for new bikers. You can feed the sunnies in the swim area too and our grandkids love that. - Mobes
Aug 2014 - $28.00
We came in for a week without reservation and found a very nice wooded site. Driving around the campground saw many sites that in my opinion were very large. (Michigan take note!) Minnesota is going to an all site reservation system beginning 1/1/2015 eliminating walk in sites making weekend camping plans without reservation almost impossible at popular parks. Nice bike trails and paths. The Riverway part of campground very close to river with nice path next to it. Nice staff. Would definitely return. - smitty12

Wonderfully quiet. Very accommodating staff. Great place for individual camping as well as small to large groups including family reunions, business retreats, specialty camps, crafting organizations, etc. Close to outdoor recreation area & golf courses. Nice walking paths, recreation fields, small lake with water slide, full sized gymnasium, meeting rooms of all sizes. Generously sized grass RV sites with shade &/or sun. Dorm/hotel type facility stays require bringing your own bedding. Numerous restroom areas are kept clean and well supplied. Off the freeway system, but a peaceful drive through the country gets you privacy and solitude. We camp here quite often. - church choir

This is a great park. Gravel sites, picnic tables, fire pits and grills. Sites are large and semi private. They have back in and pull thrus. Great for biking and walking. Big rigs are not a problem. - gmbmailbox
Aug 2015 - $35.00
Arrived after hours because a different reservation fell through. The camp host was wonderfully helpful and the campsites were spacious. There are trees and tall grasses separating the sites so you might see one neighbor at most. As with most campgrounds in Minnesota there are mosquitoes everywhere. - Keystone Trail

Aug 2017 - $37.00
We really liked our campsite across from the donkeys, llamas, goats and peacock! We had plenty of room on this end site and no problem to get satellite reception. Other campsites appeared a bit haphazard in arrangement and some were crammed together. There were also some nice sites surrounding Ham Lake. The entrance in is long, wooded and very narrow with a couple turnouts if two RV's meet. (Seems a tree or two could be removed) We were both a little concerned about where we were headed and were pleasantly surprised at the campground. While some of the signs and picnic tables could use some sprucing up, everything was clean and well kept up. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have mowed walking areas through the woods and fields and a small playground for the kids. We did not use the dump station, it appeared to be difficult to get to and would block vehicles when using it. It is NOT a resort but a very comfortable, older style, friendly mom and pop type operation. They were recently bought out by a resort operation so things may be modernized a bit. - NanciRV
Jun 2017 - $12.00
This park is old and new. Full hook up, 50 amp sites in the office area are filthy, overgrown and in the trees. Lots of shade but very hard to back in to some. Three to four rigs need to hook up to same water outlet. Wifi non-existent at our site. Great at office. Rest room and shower are old, calcified fixtures, and in need of total remodel. - Rsunde
Aug 2016 - $15.00
Competent and friendly office staff.
Poor roads-don't have a clue of how to maintain.
Many sites not level- there is no excuse in this day of slideouts. Some power posts and sewer connections poorly located.
Could use some updates which I understand they will be doing. - Nick2

This is one of the few campgrounds in the area. The DN in DN Campground literally stands for Do Nothing Campground. There is a bar on site although we did not use it. It is mostly permanent sites here with campground rentals by the Apple River set down and away from most permanents. Great view of the river. The sites are shaded and level with electric and water. There is a dump station on site. There are a lot of permanents here and they really seem to have a great time with lots of activities for them. At least there was on 4th of July weekend when we were there. It is a wonderful relaxing campground it sit relax and DO NOTHING. We have AT&T and the signal is very weak, you have to walk up by the main building to make or receive calls, texting does get though from the site. There are many sites for tents, pop ups and ample room for 5th wheels, Class A and C motor homes. We were able to get air TV on several channels while here too. We will be back. - zookeypurr4

Jun 2017 - $30.00
My rating reflects my expectations which were low. The campground is 8 back-in sites on the edge of a city park. You have woods to the rear, tennis courts, basket ball court, frisbee golf and a skate board area to your front. However, while there was afternoon and evening activity at all those places, it was relatively quiet during those times and completely quiet after 10:00 pm. Sites 1 and 2 were not level, but the other sites were. Site 4 was the best with shade. The sites could accommodate our 25 foot motorhome and our tow vehicle. Motorhomes up to 36 feet could easily fit with parking for the tow vehicles in two places along the road. Each site was full hookup with 50 amp power (we only used 30), water and sewer. Very friendly town folks and plenty of fishing. You can make reservations online, but there were only two campers Friday night and we had the park to ourselves Saturday night. Bathrooms are at either end of the road and are old, but well maintained and clean. - William Custer
Sep 2016 - $25.00
This is a completely remodeled little spot completed by the City of Amery in spring 2016. The sites are all back-in against a line of trees, with the park in front. All have electrical and water, picnic table and fire ring. The park has disc golf, skateboard park, kid's playground, Apple River for fishing (yes, there are fish), tennis courts, walking paths, horseshoe pits and more. A lot of family reunions are held in the pavilions (2) that I think are reserved through the city. There is a dump station that is free, but donations are accepted. Campsites are first come/first served with a max of a 7 day stay. Quiet town with three lakes and the Apple River. Lots of good places to eat within walking distance. - emtjab
