This is one of our last stops on our way home from the U.S. road trips we take every year. It's always busy so I would recommend reservations. It has a lake with paddle boat available to the campers. It's a few miles off U.S 59. There's a large green space with different games for campers to use. It also has a large games room with pool table, goose ball and ping pong. Great overnighter! We camped at Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a family-owned camp whose proprietors dote on their customers. Someone was always available dawn to dusk. Almost everything is provided for adults, children and pets: a lake, paddle boating; pet runs; fenced childrens' playgrounds; horseshoes, volleyball, etc. Wi-Fi was excellent once a one-time sign on was negotiated. The trip to Itasca State Park ($5 for a parking pass) to view - and wade in, if you wish - the headwaters of the Mississippi River was a highlight. A 2-hour tour of Lake Itaska via boat ($16) included a good history lecture and some animal sightings. We camped at Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge is nearby. A (free) drive through it produced unforgettable photos of a family of swans plus binocular sightings of eagles and woodpeckers. The nearby Richwood Winery has a convivial tasting room and a good (although limited) wine list. The large Central Market was decent considering the size of the town. A Saturday Farmers' Market had a lot of locally-made products.

This is a great little campground. The owners converted their family farm into a family campground. The sites are large, pull through, with some shade. The campground shows their love for the place...level sites, fire rings, cheap firewood (wheel barrel full for $10), lots of field games (disk golf, horse shoes, pitch and putt, volley ball), a walking path, free paddle boats on the lake, indoor games and library, and so forth. There are no pool facilities. The family is always around checking that everything is fine. The location is in a Minnesota recreational area full of lakes about 20 miles east of Fargo. We camped at Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a fun area of the state if you have good weather with lots of lakes and a nice beach in the town. Brew's Ale and Eats if a very good pub and Lake Country Bakery has excellent bread and cookies along with other items.

The nicest and most friendly smaller campground we've ever stayed at. The owners and their family will bend over backwards to help you. Wonderful place for not just for kids but grown ups as well. I can't see how anyone can complain about this place. We camped at Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Family owned well planned campground. Easy in and good roads, easy to navigate. The owner showed us to the site. Sites are large enough for a motor home and toad. Nice pull throughs but not all sites are pull throughs, back in sites are easy. Most all sites are satellite friendly. But the trees are young and growing. If you have a portable dish there should be no problem. Wifi did not like my chrome browser, so did not use it. Good Verizon signal. Plenty to do here, playgrounds for the kids. Paddle boats for free. Indoor games, library, DVD's. They even have a 9-hole, chipper golf course. There is no pool here. No dog park. Laundry open 24 hours. Good cable TV with many stations. Good placement of hook ups stable electric and soft water. Sites are gravel just where the RV is parked. Sites are large and all the same size. Corner spots are especially nice. All sites have a cement patio with fire ring and lots of grass. The park is very well kept. There is firewood for sale at reasonable prices. Would stay here again. We camped at Country Campground in a Motorhome.

This place is a gem! Really one of the nicest RV parks we have stayed in. Very friendly and helpful owners, spacious, well-planned sites, two playgrounds for the kids, a recreation building with ping-pong and other games, and a chip-and-putt golf course. Even the views were pretty, with a lake across the street and huge fields on two sides of us. The only surprise, given everything they had to offer, was that the wifi was terrible -- didn't work for us at all and we had to use mifi. We camped at Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Detroit Lakes is a great little town. Be sure to visit the town beach. If you want to splurge on a very nice dinner, visit Spanky's in nearby Vergas. Our friends, who live in the area, took us there, and the food was amazing.

This is the best! The park is clean and they even offer free boats to use. I wish we could have stayed here longer but was only able to stay one night. Lots of campgrounds say free WiFi but many don't really have any good WiFi. This campground does! We camped at Country Campground in a Motorhome.

We had a corner spot which had a large grassy yard looking over the kids playground and the golf area. Although we don't have kids it as fun watching them and what a great spot for a parent. Kids can play without worries. My husband and I did some chipping on the golf area which was fun. They have all the games and lake activities. The park has been in the family for five generations and they take pride in providing an excellent family experience. There is a train but it didn't bother us. I used the laundry and the machines were new and inexpensive. Loved the experience! We camped at Country Campground in a Motorhome.

We loved this campground! It was truly the perfect option for our family to find that northern Minnesota experience that we were looking for. The location is great and the property is quaint and inviting...it evokes a sense of country comfort. The full hook-ups functioned properly, the interior roads are easy to navigate and the property is very well maintained so it has easy access for big rigs. Offers both pull-through and back-in sites. The game room is fabulous! It kept my tweens and teen very happy on a couple of rainy days (it includes an air hockey table that we loved among many other games and a huge lounge with a TV if you want to borrow one of their loaner dvd's). I was beyond impressed by the owners and their efforts to keep up the property. The sites are well kept with concrete patios and well-placed trees for shade between the sites. There are two playgrounds for littles, a mini-golf area, horse shoes and our favorite was the little lake with peddle boats. The icing on the cake for me was the value of this place. It truly is family friendly and this campground makes it a pleasure to camp: all of their activities are included in your camping, firewood is a reasonable fee, they have many little grocery items and cold treats in their store for the family at great prices and the ambiance is peaceful. It also sports and incredibly clean laundry room (one of the nicest I've seen in 19 states at a campground)! Also, we had no issue with the bathrooms being locked. We did "check-out" a restroom key by leaving a $5 deposit for our stay and then returned the key in exchange for a deposit prior to our departure. We also never had any trouble finding someone near the office. We camped at Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground is well maintained and quite. However, the Wi-Fi is sketchy at best and basically nonexistent. Good cell service. The sites are gravel and mostly level but the concrete patio pads are a bit small. We had trouble with the power at our site and the 50 amp breaker had to be replaced once and we still had occasional power loss. The worker that replaced the breaker said it was no problem replacing a $20.00 breaker. Maybe $20.00 50 amp breakers are part of the problem. They might consider purchasing quality breakers to prevent future problems. They also keep the restrooms locked and you have to ask someone in the office to unlock them for use. The problem is we rarely found anyone in the office. We stayed here for two weeks and only found personnel in the office during normal business hours twice. Otherwise you had to call them to get them to come to the office. Nice park but the management is not ready for prime time. We camped at Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We were just looking for an overnight campsite and an opportunity to catch up on laundry. Country campground was the perfect choice. Sites are open and level, with efficient check-in by friendly staff. The laundry was clean and well suited our needs. We would come back and spend more time. This was a great small RV Park that was well kept by the family that owns it. Sites were comfortable, gravel pads and full hookups with 50amp. They had a great play area for the kids, volleyball, nice red room. With only 30 sites this place was top notch. We would definitely return. We camped at Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Park was clean and well maintained. Level grass and some gravel sites. We were on a corner site with gravel and concrete patio, with fire pit. Site faced NW. so patio was in the shade in the after noon. We walked four miles every morning, mostly along the lakeStayed in a Motorhome for four nights. Is close to down town . Will come back. This is our third time here. We camped at Country Campground in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed this park, would have given it a 10 but the location was a bit remote. The laundry room was exceptional best I've seen in a long time. This is definitely a family oriented campground. 2 playgrounds, bikes for the kids to ride, p.addle boats to use on a small pond and a rec room to keep older kids happy all at no extra charges. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Country Campground in a Motorhome.
