Wide open spaces. This little park is awesome. The sites are very large with room to spread out. So close to restaurants and shopping that you can smell it. Great place to stop for the night while travelling US 2. Use the online registration the day of and pick a spot. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park with long, wide sites. Very pricey when you add in the $7.00 per day park entry fee. Still, a very nice, clean park within easy walking distance to Grand Forks. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The Park Ranger Supervisor was great, she shared a lot of pertinent local information. She consistently moved throughout the park and I felt that my RV was watched closely. Will definitely stay here again. Thanks. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:
This one is hard to rate because it is different from most campgrounds I'm used to staying in. This was a neighborhood that was devastated in 1997 by flooding. FEMA purchased the buildings and they were demolished and the area along the river and lake was turned into a greenway and this RV Park...Great idea! It's in the floodplain, so that is something to keep in mind if you plan to stay here during a heavy rain.
We paid $39 for a pull-through site with full hookups. That included a $10 state park charge. Gravel parking was relatively level. Friendly staff and clean park. We didn't take advantage of the close proximity of a cinema, restaurants and shopping within walking distance or the bike trails because we were passing through and only spending one night.
There were several other campers, but we were nicely spaced out...moreso than average. Lots of trees. The prime spots along the bike path were rented, so it's best to call ahead if you want one of those. Only issue was a gazillion mosquitoes (they actually sprayed the night we were here).
The park ranger was kind enough to stay after hours to take our money along with 2 other folks who also showed up while we were doing our business.
We had a hard time finding a suitable campground with decent reviews within striking distance of Winkler, Manitoba Canada...and this area seemed the best option as far as proximity. This one was a crap-shoot with only one review before mine. Being 2 women, we seek out locations and campgrounds that we feel safe in. This fit that bill. Glad we gave it a shot. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again. We

Nice campground situated in East Grand Forks but very spacious and lots of shade. Wife and I stayed 1 night on our US-2 trip to WA. Walking distance close to shopping, restaurants, movies, etc but yet you have that "out-of-the-way" feeling because of the location along the river. Good wifi, friendly campground host and nice sites. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Tent Trailer.

One of the best parks I have stayed in lately. Spacious sites spread out along the east bank of the Red River right across from downtown Grand Forks. Easy walk across the bridge to city center. Choices available between pull-through/back-in or shaded/not shaded. Decent wifi. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Motorhome.

Great park in the city on the Red River. Nice large grassy sites with gravel parking pads. Nearly all sites have a lot of space between campers. 15+ miles of excellent paved bike/walking paths going up and down the river on both sides. Walk to restaurants, Cabelas and downtown Grand Forks, ND. Add $5 a night (or $25 for an annual pass) for vehicle entry as this is a state recreation area. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Motorhome.

Second year we have been here and really enjoyed our stay. First time was hard to find, but asking a few people greatly helped. We had a pull through site, with a picnic table and a fire ring. We were close to showers so I used them and they were very clean. They have a blacktop path to walk or ride bikes on around campground and town. We enjoyed the large grass area and not getting eaten up by mosquitos. The stores, shopping areas and restaurants are excellent nearby, and easy walking distance or drive with plenty of parking. The employee's were helpful. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Interesting park built in an old residential neighborhood, so there's a lot of history. Widely spaced gravel sites with paved roads. Unfortunately, the age of the trees makes them susceptible to storm damage. Fortunately no injuries from falling trees in a severe storm while we were there. Would be nice to see an investment in new trees for the future. Easy walking distance to restaurants and the downtown area. No wifi, except apparently at the bathhouse. This is our second 5 day stay at this park. It continues to be one of the best campgrounds we have stayed in and is very popular so reservations are recommended. It is very close to major restaurants and entertainment and the city pool. Huge sites with full hookups and almost all pull-throughs and very far apart. This stay was second time, now and 2 yrs ago. The staff are great and helpful and the place has excellent water, sewer, electric, and WiFi. Plus, they come around to see if all is OK. The first time was the same as this time. A first class place and with a great story of how it came to be. We have a 31' RV and NO tow vehicle. We carry bikes. I would rate this campground higher but the female park ranger made our stay unpleasant with her overbearing demeanor. It is a nice facility with large campsites and clean facilities. It's just a shame that one person can ruin an otherwise nice stay. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Motorhome.
