Paid for a month at $400. Will leave on 8/3 due to the fair. We can come back to use the remainder of the 30 days. The campground closes in the middle of September. Maintenance is very good. Nice grass kept up by maintenance. Mower available to trim around your site. Tables available upon request. If Host not available when you enter, just pick a spot and set the rear of the coach in line with the utilities. We camped at Dakota County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

This campground is about 30 minutes south of Minneapolis. It's pure fairgrounds camping: a big, mostly level grassy area with no trees to speak of and just the basics for a RV. There are no sewer hookups but there's water and 50 amp electric and a nearby dump station. The camping area is set up for clusters of four RVs to set up around four hookup power/water pedestals. That's not immediately apparent upon arrival, though, because there are a few exceptions to that setup (along the roads) and also, some folks park a distance away from their hookup point and stretch cords to their hookups, giving them some elbow room from their neighbors. There's a range of people in the campground - guys working in the area, retired people, and families all taking advantage of probably the lowest camping rates in the Twin Cities area. The fairgrounds has lots of good gravel roads, so there's plenty of places for a nice walk. There are restrooms (although the one right at the campground was undergoing repairs during our stay). I saw a single shower in the restroom, though, and it didn't look very inviting - the toilets, though, were acceptably clean. We had full scale Verizon 4G and, with no trees to speak of, no problem getting a satellite signal. The county fair takes place in August, during that time all campers have to be out, as the area is used for vendors and parking. We camped at Dakota County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There's also Dakota Village on the property. It's a small town of several carefully restored buildings dating back to around 1900. There's a church, schoolhouse, drug store, blacksmith shop, and several other buildings. During the fair and at other times, local volunteers come out in period clothing to make Dakota Village come alive. There are also equestrian and canine groups that do training adjacent to the camping area. It's fun watching these activities.

Clean park, level sites. Did not use any of the amenities as this was a one night stay - moving on to Iowa. We camped at Dakota County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Good choice. Wanting to stay at the completely-full Lebanon Hills State Park, we opted to stay at quiet Dakota County Fairgrounds. "Park anywhere" said the friendly helpful campground hosts, leaving lots of room between the dozen trailers and motorhomes parked with us on this wide open field. Mature trees are growing only along the outer edges of the campground. All the campground and grass sites are level, except for a few ruts in the grass where heavy motorhomes had dug dirt during the previous week's heavy rain. Also on the fairgrounds are the old buildings moved here to make the Dakota County Historical Village. There are no showers in the clean bathrooms. Children would be welcome, but there is no children's play area. No resort amenities, but it is quiet except for the occasional train's whistle. $20 per night includes electricity, either 30 amp or 50 amp. The monthly rate is only $350, except during much of July when hundreds of trailers and people attend the crowded fair. We enjoyed our time here, and in Minneapolis, and St. Paul. We will return. We camped at Dakota County Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Rate is for 50 amp level grass pull through with water. There are potentially hundreds of sites available but only a very few with shade. Dump station is available. Camp hosts are marvelous! No frills but a great value and we would definitely stay again. Probably want to check to see if there are events as it could get very crowded, but we enjoyed the open, quiet country atmosphere. We camped at Dakota County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.
