Beautiful campground overlooking ore-be-gone lake with some sites on the lake. Sites are laid out very well so your view is something other than your neighbor and are very spacious. There is also a nice children's playground by the lake. One word of caution, there is no sign at the entrance of the campground so if you come to the brown sign for the off road vehicle trail, slam on your brakes! You just passed it. If you continue, you will go down a hill that dead ends into the lake, but no fear, if worse comes to worse, you can turn around in the parking lot. Also be aware the directions on the Internet have you turning right on Wisconsin however if you are coming from the north, you are entering town at the opposite end and will make a left on Wisconsin. When I called ahead to get directions, they didn't even get it right! We camped at Sherwood Forest Campground in a Motorhome.

Sherwood Campground is city owned campground. It is located between Lake Ore-be-gone and the Mesabi Recreational Trail. In addition, it is less that a mile from the Iron Range OHV Park. It has blacktopped interior roads and gravel or blacktopped pads. The park can accommodate any size rig. The grounds were well maintained. The bathrooms were adequate. There is free Wi-Fi. The OTA television reception was satisfactory. The office has spotty hours, but the camp host comes immediately if you need assistance. There were two negatives. First, there was very low voltage when using the air conditioner. Second, the water had some sand in it; so to be safe, use a filter. We will stay here again when we’re in the area. We camped at Sherwood Forest Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground is a city owned park which is ran exceptionally well. Park rules and regulations are also in forced which facilitates campers having a positive camping experience. Campground hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Campground itself is very well maintained, clean and well kept. Sites are a mix of level gravel and paved pads while interior roads are equally sufficient for tents to big rigs. Will stay here again when we are in the area. Park is adjacent to Off Highway Vehicle park and is used buy OHV users mainly on weekends but are not a problem as I said before the park is ran well and rules are enforced. We camped at Sherwood Forest Campground in a Motorhome.

Very pleasant, quiet campground. Most sites level and spacious. Walk down the hill to the lake with a swimming beach. Easy walk to town to Koshar's (a variety of homemade sausages!), post office, restaurant, & liquor store at the end of town. Wi-Fi is intermittent. No laundry facilities. Host is accommodating and informative about the area. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Sherwood Forest Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park. We went here to use the ATV recreational area that is up in Gilbert. The manager "Rusty", is a well informed and friendly guy. There were tornado warnings the night we stayed and the local sheriff came around to each site to let people know they were going to open up the library for shelter. The park is kind of located right in Gilbert, but it's off the beaten path, so you don't notice you're right in town. Our site was absolutely the best site, with an unobstructed view of Lake Ore-Be-Gone. Listened to the loons at night. We used the park for the ATV access, but they've turned the Lake into a diver's type lake. They've cleaned and sunk numerous items (helicopter, tug boat, etc) for divers to explore. Not a lot to do in town, but Virginia (Virginia, Minnesota) is just a short trip down the road. Beautiful area and we would stay there again. We camped at Sherwood Forest Campground in a Motorhome.
