Due to length, difficult to level, but doable. Wifi barely and no cell phone on Verizon. Good food in Casino. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Motorhome.

This campground is a large, open, grassy field located above the harbor and near the casino and trading post. The sites are spacious and all have FHU. The bathrooms are clean and there is a very small laundry with one washer and dryer. We had no Verizon cell phone service and poor wifi. The trading post is a well stocked mini-mart and gas station with diesel, a credit union, and a post office. Good for an overnight. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Motorhome.

Park is on a hill overlooking a bay on Lake Superior. Very nice view from some sites ($40 with view, $35 without). No trees but mostly grass with gravel sites. Sites are adequate but nothing to write home about. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Kayaking was phenomenal, hiking had breathing views of waterfalls and flora. Biking is available all over the place but we lacked the time to partake. There is a casino nearby but we didn't go in so no idea how that is. A must do is to visit the Grand Portage Monument. Lots of history here and it is well presented. Grand Marais (pronounced Ma-ray) is 30 miles away and is a really neat little town with a nice coffee shop, shopping, and often has festivities planed.

This is an Tribal, owned and operated park adjacent to a casino, currently in the final remodeling stages of construction.
Our rate is based on a 1 week stay. The sites are all located on a gentle hillside overlooking Lake Superior. Sites are all large and spaced well apart. All utilities worked fine. No cable, they want you in the casino, not watching TV!
Grand Portage is simply the RV Park, a casino and a "Trading Post" which is excellent, having virtually anything you may need while traveling, from hardware to a small market with fresh foods to diesel and gas. (Best price around for sure) there is also a Post Office and Credit Union located in this store.
There is only 1 washer and 1 dryer available in the laundromat. About 1/2 of the park was filled with seasonal workers. (All very friendly) this is 6 miles from Canada, and 42 miles to Thunder Bay, Ontario, and 34 miles to Grand Marais, the next nearest grocery store. Boat trips to Isle Royale 2 miles away.
Not a lot to do here. If you like quiet times, it's here.Great views of the lake.
One downside... We were unable to sit outside during the evening hours because of all the mosquitos and biting horseflies. Mornings and coffee outside are great though! We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the day trip to Isle Royale National Park. $75.00 per person, takes 90 minutes on the boat each way and 4 hours on the island. Park Rangers there meet you and you can take free tours and presentations. Its well done. Make reservations. They only take about 40 passengers per day. We arrived on Monday, dropped in, and were lucky to get on a trip the following Saturday.

This campground is part of a tribal run casino/marina/campground complex. The casino is under renovation and about 1/4 of the campsites were taken up with piles of building materials. Those should be freed up when the construction is completed. The campground is small and a little weedy. However, we had an amazing view of Lake Superior from our window. Who sees weeds when you can look at that! The staff was super helpful. We called to make a reservation late in the game and they were full. However, they keep a few sites for walk-ins. So we got there early and got one of those sites. All good. There are a convenience store, car wash, gas station and post office as part of the complex. Wifi was terrible. We were told that we could use wifi in the casino hotel lobby, which ended up being 2 chairs and a broken desk next to a doorway. The campground staff were welcoming and helpful, the casino staff were rude and unhelpful. We turned off our Verizon phones, there was no reception. The campground is biking distance to the Grand Marais National Monument and the ferry (3 miles away) that takes you to Isle Royale National Park (Happy 100th Birthday NPS!). We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring your groceries with you, the closest grocery store is 30 miles away in Grand Marais.

The Grand Portage National Monument is a must-see. It celebrates the collaboration between the Indians and the Voyageurs during the fur trade. The Monument is unique in that it is jointly run by the local tribe and the National Park Service.

3 miles away is a 90 minute ferry takes you to the Windigo part of the Isle Royale National Park. You stay there for 4 hours. There are ranger led hikes and talks, or you can head out on your own.

We had full hookups. There was nice spacing on the sites and the utilities worked find for us except the wifi. It faded in and out constantly and was of little value. Our site had a nice view of the lake. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Motorhome.

The only campground convenient to the boat tour to Isle Royale. Only 4 pull-thrus. #7 and #9 both have outstanding views of the lake and have no one near them. Wifi erratic, no antenna-tv reception, only ATT&T works there. We were told if we had Verizon we'd probably connect with a Canadian tower and incur huge unexpected charges so we turned our phones off. Laundry has only one washer and dryer but they worked okay and were reasonable ($2.00 & $1.50). Manager works out of marina and wasn't there when he was supposed to be. Several people arriving Friday afternoon with reservations had no way of registering or finding out what sites they were in and no one knew where he was. They were extremely upset. Trading Post nearby has gas and minimal groceries but it beats driving 35 miles to Grand Marais. We enjoyed the solitude and beautiful view, but if you've seen Isle Royale and Grand Portage National Monument, there's no reason to go back. If we were going to do it again we'd stay in Grand Marais and drive up to Grand Portage to do those two parks in one day. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a pull thru with views of the lake and open sky for dish. Utilities were fine, but cell phone and internet are non existent as you are very close to Canada and your phone will roam to the very expensive Canadian system-we just turned ours off. The park is on an indian reservation with casino, fuel and groceries available close by. While we were there, the casino was being upgraded, so some noise from that, but they will done soon. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Fifth Wheel.

We took the boat to Isle Royale National Park for the day and it was well worth the cost. Grand Portage National Monument is very close by and we enjoyed the fort section, with rangers dressed in period clothing and very informative, also the falls north of Grand Portage were beautiful

Very remote location on MN-61. Casino, Hotel, Trading Post with fuel. CG is mostly grass, some pull thru and some back-in, all have picnic tables and fire rings, SWE and Wi-Fi. No ctv and no hdtv reception. Some sites have excellent views of Lake Superior. Good location to daytrip out to Isle Royale NP. Casino undergoing remodel and additions with construction equipment. Workers occupy one end of the CG. Must contact the marina office and register before selecting a site. Laundry and restrooms were clean. If we ever return to Minnesota we may stay here again. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Fifth Wheel.

The price reflects the weekly rate. Since the last review the campground has added wireless Internet. It isn't the greatest, but it is enough to do e-mail and surf. No video streaming and only spotty Skype, which is too bad as there is no cell phone coverage here. It helps if you choose a site next to the Wi-Fi antenna. Currently there is one antenna, though two more are planned. Sites are very large. Water pressure is strong. The grass and lake views are quite nice. The trees are still little so there isn't shade yet. Gravel roads, grass sites. The pool is over at the casino. Looked nice, though we didn't use it. It was a quiet campground, and a great location for catching the boat to Isle Royale. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is in a very remote part of Northern Minnesota and overlooks a big bay on Lake Superior. Walking distance to the casino, trading post with a full selection of groceries, restaurant, boat launch, and use of indoor pool at Grand Portage Lodge. The wifi signal worked great which was a surprise. No cell phone service. Near GP State Park which has a great 1/2 mile trail to Pigeon Falls. Near Canadian border. Quiet place to relax for a few days! A fisherman's paradise. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Motorhome.

Nice campground at the casino and near the marina. Great views of Lake Superior. Close enough to Canada for day trips to Thunder Bay. The sites are gravel and grass and are well spaced out so you don't feel at all crowded. The big drawback is that there is NO cell phone service, no Wifi including aircards, and no over the air TV reception. Some Wifi service at the casino lodge, but it is very slow. You are truly "off the grid" while here. Reservation store and gas station are also convenient to the park. We camped here in a 5th wheel toy hauler and would stay here again when in the area. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Fifth Wheel.

It is the only campground in the US North of Grand Marais, so it is very convenient if you are taking the boat to Isle Royale. That said, we found 3 issues with the site we were on. 1. The sewer connection was over a foot above the ground. We did not use the sewer at our site but moved to a more suitable site to dump before leaving. 2. The water connection threads were stripped making it very difficult to connect a hose. 3. The gravel interior roads were very dusty, try to get a site at the back of the campground to minimize the dust. 4. The air handlers from the Casio roared day and night, which sounded like we were camped beside an industrial plant. The view of Lake Superior was very nice. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Travel Trailer.

Fairly decent campground. The Marina check-in guy is nice and helpful. We were here for two days visiting the National Historic Site and Heritage site. The tallest waterfall in Minnesota is at the border on the Pigeon River. The Wi-Fi is available at the Casino and Lodge and I was told sometimes at the park. The walleye plate in the restaurant is really good. I would stay here again. We had a pull-through site and it seems all the sites are grass. Fairly level. We camped at Grand Portage Lodge and Casino in a Fifth Wheel.
