The rate does not include the required daily entry fee or purchase, as we did, an annual pass for motorhome and towed vehicle for $43 per year. This heavily-wooded campground is right off of Highway 61, a very busy highway. Consequently you do hear considerable traffic noise, particularly in the sites closest to the Highway. The highway does calm down at night, so it is tolerable. This campground is really designed more for tents and smaller rigs, with some pretty tight roads and turns with considerable close-in vegetation. The interior roads are gravel and can be dusty. During our visit, there was ongoing construction. Currently there are only pit toilets; they seem to he constructing modern bath houses. Fresh water fill is at the dump station, convenient when arriving at the campground. We were able to have satellite TV by using a portable dish and finding a small hole in the ample vegetation. We were able to get weak, intermediate Verizon voice and data, made stronger by our Wilson amp and roof-top antenna. One important note, check-out time is not until 4pm. The campground served our purpose as a central spot to visit the area; we would stay here again. We camped at Cascade River State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are several nice hikes within Cascade River State Park. It is also a good central point for several other state parks with waterfalls and the Gunflint Trail. Grand Marais has good restaurants and grocery stores.

They just put in some sites with electric. People nice and the campground well kept. Can't remember how much the site cost was..spent one night being close to Lake Superior on a hot day made it very comfortable. We camped at Cascade River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice State Park with lots of hiking trails. Waterfalls abound in this park. Most of the campsites are on the smaller side. Many of them will not accommodate a large tow vehicle trailer combination. A few sites will easily accommodate a larger camper / 5th wheeler. No electric sites at this state park. Dump station is well placed. Friendly / helpful staff. Campground is within 5 miles of Grand Marais MN. Lots to do and see in the area. We camped at Cascade River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is really nice if you don't mind non-electric sites. The hiking is fabulous to the falls and to the overlook of the entire area and Lake Superior. Breathtaking. We hiked north on Lake Superior the next day. The rocks and view is just beautiful. The beauty of the park made up for no electricity. The ranger was so helpful in mapping out where to go and what we should see. She told us to visit Grand Marais' Artist Point. Cool rocks that people made into art. The campground hosts were so friendly. They told us about a lodge/game room with electricity behind their site where we could make coffee or charge up cell phones/iPods. On our last night the hosts came around at 10:00 pm to let us know that a bear was sighted at the falls earlier that day. Guess who paid us a visit in our campsite #A1? An young black bear looking for snacks. We slept in our van and our friends in the back of their SUV. Otherwise, we camped in a tent. Each site was full every day. More of a tent and pop-up campground. Big rigs couldn't let slide-outs out in some sites. I really want to come back here, but with our small travel trailer. We camped at Cascade River State Park in a Tent.
