Great location for visiting Itasca State Park. Quiet night here. Most of the full hookup sites had empty RV's in tidy sites. Lots of tent sites in the very nice shaded area. Self Check in with envelope for check, cash or credit card. We camped at Camp Itasca in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for 2 nights, so that we were close to the North entrance to visit Itasca Lake State Park, to see the beginning watershed for the Mississippi River, and explore the park. The park hosts are very nice. It is quiet at night. We had full hooks ups and 50 amp electric. Our site was a back in. For the price, they should provide a laundry, but these are the standard prices we find in Minnesota. The bathrooms and shower are dated. There are several seasonal campers in sites, but most of them were not in the park with their 5th wheels/trailers. They return on weekends or holidays. Their sites were kept up. The road in is dirt/gravel to the park from the highway, but it is a short drive. The camp sites are on grass. We paid $35/night for full hookups. We camped at Camp Itasca in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Park Rapids is about 25-30 miles south of Camp Itasca campground. There is a convenience store and gas station before you enter Itasca Lake State Park. Itasca Lake State Park was well worth our visit. We enjoyed seeing the visitor center near the lodge. Bring your swim suits and towels to cool off in the headwaters of the Mississippi River stream at Lake Itasca. The only restaurants are in the state park, so bring food for your camper.

The rate reflects an electric-only site. We stayed here one night so we could visit the headwaters of the Mississippi in Itasca State Park. We didn’t do much more than eat and sleep here, but it was a pleasant stay with a friendly host. We were by ourselves in a big green open space. It was easy to park our 40 foot fifth wheel. Not a fancy park with lots of amenities, but we were here to see Itasca State Park, not to swim or ride go carts. We discovered one day at Itasca is not enough, and we'll definitely be back and stay here again. We camped at Camp Itasca in a Fifth Wheel.

Extremely quiet park just outside the north gate to Lake Itasca State Park. Nothing fancy but grass between spaces which had room between them, full hookups and our 40 foot RV fit fine in the back-in space. We could get satellite which isn't always available up north with all the trees. Verizon cell & air card were good. Extremely nice people running the place. Lots of room to walk the dog and not be on top of other people. They came over the morning we left to thank us for staying there. I'd definitely come back if wanting access to the state park. We camped at Camp Itasca in a Motorhome.

We picked this park for its proximity to the North Entrance to Lake Itasca State Park. You can ride your bikes to the headwaters without a fee. The park is good for a couple days to visit the park, nice grass, and wide sites. The bathrooms are clean but very dated. The people working at the site were very friendly. We would stay here again. We camped at Camp Itasca in a Fifth Wheel.
