Stayed at Interstate for a 4 nights in the North Loop. Our site was level and a mix of grass/dirt/gravel. No problem backing in as the site was pretty open and backed up to a large open field (nice for kids to play). The staff is friendly, and the park includes a nice information center, small gift shop, firewood for sale, nice trails and access to the river. No water hookups and water is available throughout the park and at the dump station. The dump station is easy in and out, however not near the campground. We would have liked to have used the shower house to conserve our water, however we found them dirty and downright gross. After observing a cleaning crew on our second day, we decided to check out the showers again and they didn't look like they had been touched or the trash dumped. There is a lot of highway noise at the North Campground. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is actually located in St. Croix Falls which is an hour from Eau Claire but was the only option I could find that was close when I added the park. The park itself is a state park and has a lot of things to do. Lots of hiking including some trails that are part of the ice age trail system. You can also swim in a lake though the beach area is small and does and could use some maintenance. The showers are free, hot and are all lockable rooms that can be used by families. The bathrooms by our site in the North Campground seemed small. Two working urinals and two stalls. Often there was a line. I would recommend the North campground over the South one. The north seemed to be a lot less buggy and the sites were more open. Overall we had a great time and wold come back to this location. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice State Park Campground. We arrived about 6:30 PM on a Tuesday and the staff was about to close the office for the day. They were very helpful with maps and directions to the site we had reserved online. The site was not level but we were able to level with our blocks. The road (loop) was tight in a couple places for our truck and 32' trailer, but was manageable. The park was only about 10 to 15% occupied and was fairly quite. It is close to the highway and traffic noise is present but it did quite down after dark. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to walk the trail (it is steep and slippery in some spots) to see the beauty of the river and bluffs. The River trail is 1.25 MI one way but worth the walk.

Not big rig friendly. Road construction causes major confusion in signage from the east. We finally followed signs for the campground and within feet of the road closed sign turned the rig around. No signs said go to dead end and turn left. Sites regardless of length stated by phone or on website are big enough for 40 ft motorhomes. Site was so narrow with trees only 1 slide could go out due to tree trunks and limbs. I called and spoke with staff on 3 occasions that we were lost and they were very polite but really missed the opportunity to provide better directions. This is a lovely area but size of spaces, narrow roads inside campground, and extreme difficulty in finding the entrance made it an unpleasant visit. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Motorhome.

This was an amazing, and fun experience. "Interstate" refers to the fact half of the park is on the Minnesota side of the St Croix river and half on the Wisconsin side. We camped on the Minnesota side. Here there are mostly electric sites (sites directly abutting the river are non-electric). Site 20 has a lovely view, but you are terribly close to Site 19. 21 has the best view but is tent-only and non-electric. Most of the sites were not level. Our site sloped a bit but I have blocks to raise front wheels and that helped. Bath house is very well maintained. There are a Ton of people here on weekends because of the marvelous hiking trails. During midweek, we had this whole park almost to ourselves. It was lovely. There are boat rides and canoe rentals nearby. Hike 1.25 mi North to the visitor center and tour the most amazing potholes! 10,000 years ago the St Croix River was one of the largest rivers in the world. At over 200' deep it carved out the river bed from igneous rock and, in doing so, created huge circular holes in the bedrock. You must see it to believe it! We drove over to the Wisconsin side of the park. They have a Northern and a Southern camping area neither of which exceeded what we had on the Minnesota side. Their entire South campground was non-electric (some lovely sites). The North campground was partial electric. Some of the best sites were right next to the bath house. Rate of $33 = $23 for camping + $5 electricity + $5 for park use permit. Good Verizon signal in the campground (and throughout the park) for both Internet data (4G) and cellular. Lots of hungry raccoons so keep your campsite clean of edibles! I'd come here again. Next time, allow more time for hiking the trail, take a boat ride on the river, and relax. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed on the Wisconsin side, north campground, in spot #33. The site was fine, but a lot of traffic in front of the site as we were close to the bath house. Great hiking trails and very friendly staff. Wisconsin side offers trail to Taylors Falls, which is great for a stop at the ice cream shops. Another trail further north provided access to downtown St. Croix Falls and the Dairy Queen. As the weekend was warm, these trails were most appreciated. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful, small State Park about an hour from the Twin Cities. The Pothole area is a must see and well worth the hike to the visitor center just over a mile from the campground (or a short drive). We only hiked along the river, which has stunning views of the rock formation and cliffs. Also, there is a paved railroad track trail across the highway. Rock climbers would have unlimited possibilities, but this requires a permit. It was surprising that there is quite a bit sandy shoreline to walk along too. There are canoeing and kayaking opportunities through outfitter services that are located on both sides of the St. Croix River. Search for “outfitters” within the website. There is a supermarket and a Super Center about 2 miles across the river in St. Croix Falls, WI. The downsides are that this campground is on Hwy. 8, so semi-truck noise can be loud and the electric sites seem close together. We camped during the week at site 20 and had a wonderful view of the river. As previously mentioned, some sites are not level and short. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Travel Trailer.

A neat and clean camp in the only state park that is located in two states ( Minnesota and Wisconsin ) and separated by the St. Croix River. Well maintained, we were here very early in the season, but fresh water and the dumping station were in working order, and the operator of the canoe rental was ready for business, although we didn't do that this trip, but will next time. Park has beautiful scenery! We camped at Interstate State Park in a Motorhome.

When we got to the park we pulled aside and went into the office to check in. The lady at the counter asked for our name but could not find our reservation in the system. I showed her the confirmation, and after much searching and telling us we didn’t have a reservation, asking was it under a different name, asking us if were we in the right state (I think we would know!), saying she wasn’t seeing us, etc., she asked again how to spell our last name and finally found us. Why she couldn’t search by the reservation number I have no idea! Once at the site we had a hard time getting the trailer level: the site sloped very steeply to the front. Had to jerry rig some wood blocks under the front wheel to get it even close to level (it wasn’t that close!!). When hubby went to plug in the electricity, he yanked his hand back and yelled OUCH! There was a hornet’s nest underneath the electricity box cover and he got stung by one. Thankfully it was a tiny nest: if it were big he might have gotten stung multiple times! I drove back to the office to ask them to come and spray something to kill the bees. They sent a teenage girl who was allergic to bee stings to take care of it?! We did rent a canoe for the trip downriver and it was a lot of fun, and the shuttle bus return was really handy. Unfortunately the canoe rental brings a lot of extra traffic into the campground. We saw many cars that were not campers driving through the campground. At times it was noisy and you usually felt like the drive-through people were staring at you. We enjoyed the area but would probably try to find a quieter campground next time. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Interstate State Park is a beautiful place! Plenty of hiking to do. Spectacular views to see. Stayed in campsite number 33 which was right next to the restroom/showers; we didn't care for that. Moderately shaded, not very private sites. I would recommend site number 23 as it's by some really neat rocks. Overall we really enjoyed this park and will definitely go back again. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Tent.

This State Park camp is on the Saint Croix river. It is a little tricky finding as the highway signs crossing the river from the east and in town are not clear for a first time visitor and the park turnoff sign comes up on you quickly. Once in the park the roads are paved and of adequate size except right in the campground loop the trees can be close to the road. Sites are back-in and not all are large enough for big rigs. There is 30 amp electric hookup only, with a dump station. The park has hiking trails and is close to the boat ride on the river. I marked it down for the general lack of camp facilities, not the facilities they have. This lack is typical of public facilities is this part of the country. We would stay here again. We camped at Interstate State Park in a Motorhome.
