This is a city run camp ground. They are very accommodating in that they let you put extra tents on your site ($10 per night) and have extra vehicles ($5 per night). In the original camp ground, sites 1-66, all of the sites along the lake are very tight. There may only be two feet between your awning and your neighbor's camper. The gravel pads are built up so that they are flat, which makes the ground between each pad sloped up or down, so the small strip of grass you have between campers is not very useful. The tightness of these lake side spots also makes for a very awkward setup for hook-ups. There are hook-up posts at the left edge of the pads, but those are your neighbor's hook-ups. They would be on the wrong side for your camper. So our neighbor's hook-up post was literally underneath our awning. This is not the case with the sites that are not on the lake as they are more spacious. There is not much for trees or shade here. There are trees along side of sites 1-15, and between 48-66 and 67-74. There is a newer section of the campground on the other side of the road. These rows are tiered, so every spot has a great view of the lake, but there are no trees there. The bath houses were clean, but old. The showers have cinder block walls and the only thing providing privacy and security is a thin, plastic shower curtain. The bath house is also quite a way from most of the camp sites. Having a spectacular view of Lake Superior made it worth it for us to sacrifice camp site size. (Note, our first night there was a huge motor home on the lake side next to us, completely blocking our view of anything. The next two nights there was a tent on that spot so we got our view back.) We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Travel Trailer.

There is a new section of the park. Great sites. Tiered so that all have a view of the bay. New restrooms/showers were great. Spacious sites. We were there in a motorhome. Our spot was a pull in so that we faced the bay with a view. Well set up. Plenty of room. Reservations during the summer are a must, call early. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

Check out the ships docking to pick up iron ore. Nice lighthouse. Day trips to Splitrock Lighthouse, Palisade Head (don't miss this, view is great), Gooseberry Falls (hike past the high falls to the others. It's worth it)

First of all, this is a campground not a resort. As others have said, it has two parts, a newer area that easily fits larger RVs and the older part with smaller sites. We were in site 99 with a 37 ft motorhome and we fit fine. This was in a small area of 11 sites where half were on a hill above the lake with a beautiful view and the others were near the highway with a partial lake view. There was road noise in the daytime but it was quiet at night. The Wifi worked well most of the time! The sites in the older section are gravel and grass and of various sizes, levelness, and spaciousness. Some are full hookup and some are only water and electric. This is a good place to stay for a few days while exploring the Two Harbors area. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

We loved this park. While more expensive than we prefer, it was absolutely pristine. We stayed in the "new" area, with the stadium-style sites. Each site had an incredible view of the lake. Each site had plenty of room, and the grass was neat and mowed. There was a bit of confusion amongst our neighbors as to whose sewer was whose, but it all worked out just fine. We would definitely go back! We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in site B34, which is in the new section. They are in the process of building a bathroom and shower building for this section. The sites are nice size, and fairly level. Site 34 is on the lowest level, close to the lake. We selected this site because we thought it would have less road noise than the upper row, but it turned out the opposite. The road between our site and the lake was noisy at night, where the upper sites or the middle row sites are further from the lake but quieter at night. Needed two lengths of sewer hose and they put the sewer access at the back of the lots instead of next to the electrical connection near the middle of the site. We would stay here again, but on the middle or upper level sites. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

There are 2 sections - an old and newer terraced section. We stayed in the terraced area. The campground was busy and asked us to move to the older section after the 1st night. Rather than go to the smaller tighter sites, we moved on to Duluth. The nice office staff said a lot of people have to move, sometimes 2 or 3 times, so make your reservation early. Satellite was good in the new section. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the new section of the campground and really enjoyed the view of Lake Superior. There is no privacy between sites, but the view makes up for that. For those with Class As or Cs it's nice they give you the option to pull in or back in so you can choose your view out the back or front window. But for those of us in large 5th wheels, pulling in isn't an option, and it's rather awkward when your next door neighbor in a class A pulls in so you end up sharing a yard basically like a buddy site even when you didn't want a buddy site. We had 3 neighbors the whole week that pulled in next to us like that so we had a buddy site the whole week. The first few days were awful because the neighbors were so unfriendly and rude. I mean if we're going to be that close to each other we can at least be friendly right? Well, thankfully they left and the next people that pulled in were so much nicer and we enjoyed a campfire with them. We really don't like "buddy sites" unless we know the people next to us, but these sites are set up so that chances are you may be getting a buddy site whether you like it or not. Anyway, other than that we enjoyed this campground. The staff is very friendly and the location is great for visiting the north shore, Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse. Verizon 4G coverage was good there too. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground seemed well kept and well planned. Camping sites near the main building have toilet/shower facilities. Many treed sites have lake views, some have lake access. We didn't check out any toilet/shower facilities. The terraced, lake view sites are in a separate section directly across a park street, and sunrise views over Lake Superior. Our site had dual 30/50 amp electric, water and sewer hook ups, a picnic table, a fire ring. We parked facing the lake. There's a gravel/sand beach (across a park street), plus a short walking trail along Lake Superior's shoreline. We don't recall any playground facilities...no grandkids this trip. On-site workers seemed pleasant and helpful. A dump site is located near the main building, where propane and firewood bundles are sold. Leashed pets are welcome. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Plan to layer clothing and bring comfortable walking/hiking shoes for exploring. Two Harbors is a short walk directly behind our campsite. Restock groceries at Super-One. Betty's Pie Shop was one of the best we've eaten while traveling. Plan to see Gooseberry Falls Park and MN's #1 visited tourist sight, Split Rock Lighthouse (photos can be obstructed by fog). Duluth is a day trip away. Schedule a Gleensheen Mansion tour, or take your chances at the gate.

We stayed a week for an RV Haulin' HitchHikers rally.
We were in the new sites south of Park road.
We loved the terraced sites that are spacious with well maintained roads and grass.
sites are gravel pads that are level and raked with 50amp full hookups.
The view of Lake Superior is Awesome out our back window.
Hookups are provided on both sides so Motor homes can pull in and face the lake.
The sites north of Park road are 30A and vary with EWS and some with on EW.
Staff was very friendly when we checked in, otherwise we had no interaction with them. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a well-engineered park for Class A motorhomes. Roads are wide and paved. Sites are packed gravel surrounded by grass. Curbs and stairs with banisters are placed at appropriate spots. There is a view of Lake Superior from most of the terraced sites, each of which has two sewers so rvs can be placed to maximize the view. We could find no Wi-Fi service; Verizon had a strong signal. It is a city-owned park. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

When we checked the website to make reservations, about a month before our intended arrival, it showed nothing available. On a lark, we called and were able to get a site. So don't necessarily believe their website. Give them a call. Arriving was a bit confusing. As you turn off of highway 62, the office is on your immediate left. There is no sign, but that is where you check in. I think your experience in the campground will all depend on what section you are in. Our experience and rating is based on our stay in site 22, but the comments would apply to sites 1 through 66. This is a very close-packed campground, with only a few sites having a reasonable view of Lake Superior. If we had put out our awning, we could have provided shade for the camper next door. On the other side our view was of a very white camper about ten feet away. We did have a bit of a view of the Lake out our front window. Our picnic table and grill were behind our neighbors site. We had good, strong 30 amp and water at our site. We did not have the worst site by any means, most had no lake view and were even more crowded. It was not quite since there were so many people crowded into a small space. The campground roads are one-way and the angles are wrong on the turns. Even in our relative short motorhome, we had to back up once to get around a turn. The dump station is also very tight with wrong-angle turns. At our site satellite was not a problem since it was fairly open. We had good strong Verizon data and voice. We did look at the other sites and many were much better than those in this loop. Sites 1B through 34B are large, reasonably separated, and most have a lake view. This seems to be a newer section of the park and is set up for bigger rigs. Sites 67 through 91 are significantly better than our loop was. Sites 92 through 102 are quite close to Highway 61, a very busy road in this area. We certainly would not stay in this campground in the same loop as this visit. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Motorhome.

The new terraced section is ideal for larger rigs. Each site has two sewer hookups so you can either back in or pull in forward. Pulling in with a motor home gives you a nice view of Lake Superior out your windshield.
The older section has trees and many sites have a nice view of Lake Superior, but many of the sites are closer together and quite un-level. We camped at Burlington Bay Campground in a Motorhome.
