Older family run campground. Restrooms were clean but old with rust. Commodes old with instructions for proper use. Just two rows of sites; maybe 25 in all. Maybe half had sewer. Right beside Hwy 61; very noisy traffic. Paid for four nights, stayed three, no refunds. 80 miles to Grand Marais, 21 back to Duluth. Would stay here again, staff was pleasant. Honey wagon will empty your tanks. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

About a mile from Lake Superior. RV sites are a premium all along North Shore. We staged from here to visit Duluth, Grand Marais, Tettequoche, Gooseberry and Split Rick Lighthouse.

There are many nice sites at this CG, some with lovely trees and abundant space between. There is a beautiful large grass area that was very well kept. They also had sprayed for mosquitoes which we definitely appreciated. We received a nice discount for booking a full week (7th night free) which made the price very reasonable. The owners are kind and helpful. Unfortunately, our site was one of the most unattractive in the CG (site 1). It was very long and level which was nice. Water and electric hookups were on right side of trailer (pretty much right outside our door) and sewer was on opposite side, so that was different. It was an end site, which gave us space on both sides, but this site sat close to permanent mobile homes and a pretty old trailer on the next site. No trees or shrubs to enhance the view for this specific site. That being said, Sites 3-5 with full hookups were very lovely and spacious. My one big complaint with the CG was the bathhouses. The two toilet stalls and showers only had curtains for privacy, no doors. There are few amenities at this CG--no pool, laundry or general store (but the CG is only 3 miles from shopping in Two Harbors). Wifi was down the entire week we were there, but there is basic TV and we got in major networks. We had a pretty decent cell signal. They do not accept credit cards, only cash or check. There are municipal campsites nearby in Two Harbors with beautiful views of Lake Superior but they probably get more noise/traffic. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed Rustic Inn Cafe--the pie is awesome. Access to North Shore State Parks along Highway 61 was very good. It's 85 miles between Two Harbors and Grand Marais with wonderful state parks all along the drive. We visited Tettegouche, Gooseberry Falls, Temperance River, and Split Rock. We rode our bikes along the Gitchie Gammi bike trail between Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock.

This park is all pull through sites. The landscaping is like a well kept city park. Some of the sites have full hookup, some are 50 amp and water. The park offers free dump service on site if your in a 50 amp service. The owners are on site and very attentive. They met us at the entrance, led us to the site and spotted for us as we parked. We tried to stretch our sewer dump till Monday morning, but at 10pm Sunday night it overflowed. They came right over with the hunny wagon without complaint. We couldn't have asked for any more. We will stay there again. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Motorhome.

This is a very small campground, but it has spacious sites. It is not on the water, but only about 10 min to Two Harbors & Lake Superior. All the sites are pull-throughs. Ours was somewhat level, but we did need our jack pads & jacks. The owners were very nice and gave us some suggestions about things in town. There are only a couple sites with sewer hookups, but they do offer honey wagon service, which I think is free, but I don't know if there is a limit. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Motorhome.

Eat at Rustic Inn Cafe just north of Two Harbors. Great food! North Shore Scenic Cruises had a great tour of the area out of Silver Bay Marina.

Nice campground. Sites were barely level enough for us at 40 feet. WiFi was spotty. Good power and water. You pay an extra $4 for 50-amp and you also pay $4 extra if you use air conditioning. Two Harbors was lovely. Staff was friendly and helpful. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Enter from Scenic Drive, not from Highway-61. When you enter from 61 there are no signs for the campground and no idea where to go once you enter.
If you are there on a Friday night, drive 5 miles out Route 2 to Dixie's for the all you can eat fish fry!!!!!

An older park that is very neat and clean - overall well kept. Wifi is sketchy and works slow at times. Were not given a choice of sites and sites were not very level but with some effort we got motorhome setup ok. Campgroud is very close to HWY 61 and traffice noise can be annoying at times. Campground itself is very quiet and relaxing wih no playground available. Most sites are water and electric only but with dump station available. Enjoyed stay and would stay here again. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Motorhome.

Price is nightly rate - no discounts offered. Great location, lovely owners/managers. Only a few full hook-up sites - all are pull-through, although campground is a bit tight for big rigs (yet manageable). Felt price was a bit high for post-Labor Day and what park offers. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Fifth Wheel.

Older park. Tight turns; a little hard to get around in with bigger rig. Very few sewer sites. We were only offered 30 amp and no sewer. Were told the 50 amp and sewer sites were only for "the big rigs." Not much to do there but plenty to see in the area. Fairly quiet except for some highway noise but not bad. Mosquitoes had just hatched and could carry us away. Nicely kept lawn. Cash only, no credit cards. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Fifth Wheel.

The owner was delightful, very helpful and a wealth of local information. The campground is small with wide sites and both clean and neat. A very convenient location from which to explore Minnesota's North Shore. I would be helpful it there were more 50 amp sites. While sewer sites limited, there is a convenient dump station. I still highly recommend this campground! We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Motorhome.

Good place - no major amenities but just a nice, grassy level spot. Antenna TV does not really work, but Wi-Fi was great right at the 5er. Most sites do not have sewer, but he will pump you out for a very nominal fee. Very nice people. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice, well manicured, and heavily treed park. Owners live on site and are accommodating. Was surprised when we signed up that they charge $4.00 per day more for electricity (perhaps 50 amp service but that is not what she said). We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Motorhome.

This campground is very pleasant but very basic. The grounds are beautifully maintained, rolling lawn and evergreens. The site was gravel and wasn't level. We were unable to extend our awning because of a tree in the way. It's a peaceful place to stay for couples. There are no amenities for children: no pool or playground. It is about 2.5 miles out of town. We were able to get WiFi at the public library. Television was limited to two channels. A bit pricey for what you get. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Motorhome.

This is a private RV park with no pool, golf, etc. But we did have lots of shade trees, grass and quiet. The owners live on site and are very helpful and friendly. They suggested where to visit and where to eat. She made sure we were on a good site and parked in the right spot for level and slides. Only a couple of miles from Two Harbors. Exceptionally clean and well maintained area. Bathrooms are spotless and showers are hot. We had to continually adjust our antennae for good TV reception. We would go back. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Motorhome.

We arrived on a busy summer weekend without a confirmed reservation. The campground we made a reservation at did not have anyone in the office upon arrival. We called Penmarallter and I talked to the owner. She told me she could fit me in. We arrived and she put me in the drive way of her private residence and we hooked up electric in the garage. The owners are the most accommodating people I have ever seen. They bent over backwards to help us. The next day we were able to move into a site. This is a beautiful campground that is well maintained and superbly ran. If I come back to this part of the county I will stay here and I will tell anyone coming to this area to stay here. We camped at Penmarallter Campsite in a Motorhome.
