Looks like these free campgrounds are becoming homes rather than overnight stops. Many campers had that extended stay look about them. With the very limited number of sites available the likelihood of getting one is pretty slim. Unless you're arriving very early don't count on it. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

FREE Campground on Natchez Trace Parkway. We had stayed at another place the night before and we were expecting something along the same lines. Jeff Busby much smaller (18 sites) and appeared to be sitting on the side of a hill. Difficult to maneuver with our 30 foot trailer and 21 foot tow vehicle. Lots of trees and sites were uneven. The campground was laid out weirdly as well. Sometimes difficult to figure out where on campsite began and the other ended. That being said, it was a perfect spot to sit out under the awning during a rain storm. A very forested area and some trees very close to the road. But very worth the effort. No hookups. Beautiful area. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Gordon House on the Trace built early 1800's. You can not go inside but the grounds are available. Federal style home and only 2 rooms deep. Built of brick. The only one in the area at the time.

This place was packed on Sat & Sunday night. All but a couple of tent sites are pull thrus. There were a couple of issues. First, the pads were so covered in pine needles & leaves that you couldn't see some of the sites. A lot of them are very long & in a number of them there were tenters. If they had moved their cars off the pads, an RV could have easily used that pad without disturbing the tenter. We offered the use of the back end of our pad to another RVer, but they were towing & weren't able to back up to get out without disconnecting their car. There was no map or camp host available here, so people had to drive around several times to figure out the sites. Of course, big pine trees right next to the pads make it difficult to maneuver larger RVs. It was very nice otherwise & you can't beat "free". We were parked on the site behind the restroom & were able to get our satellite by pulling forward quite a bit. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The Jeff Busby CG at Milepost 193 of the Natchez Trace Parkway is one of the three, free, primitive (no hookups) campgrounds along the Parkway. The CG has toilets but no showers. All sites at Jeff Busby are heavily treed, pull-thrus, with asphalt pads. One looked to have a turn a bit tight for a large (40 ft or more) motorhome but our 36' motorhome was manageable (and we got two slides out). Another couple who camped there that night said that they stay there twice a year on their way/back from New England. We will stay there again. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Motorhome.

We stopped here overnight and really enjoyed our stay. This is a free campground along the Natchez Trace with no hookups. The sites and roads are asphalt, and the sites include a picnic table, trash can, fire ring and a pole to hang a lantern on. It was nice and quiet, with sounds of nature all around. Very peaceful! Would definitely return. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a free campground run by the National Park Service. If you like nature, you will love it here as it is a park-like setting. The sites are oddly arranged but numbered. It took one drive through to figure the layout out. We got 10 TV channels over the air. There were some big black bugs but we arrived late and didn't want to sit outside anyway. There are a total of 18 sites. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Motorhome.

Pretty park; good walking. Sites are haphazardly laid out with no set site numbers. It was not crowded so we had no problem with spacing. The sites near the Trace could have some road noise. No dump station. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Motorhome.

Jeff Busby is one of the free campgrounds along the Natchez Trace Parkway maintained by the National Park Service. A must stop. Quiet and dark, you are immersed in nature. Clean rest rooms with running water. The nature trail and just walking around the campground and picnic area is a wonderful experience. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful, quiet, clean and free. What could be better? Paved pads in the oak woods with picnic tables, fire pits and water taps spread throughout the park. New clean restroom building. There is a nice hiking trail up to a scenic viewpoint. A good place to unwind for a day or two during a drive down the Natchez Trace. Plenty of room for big rigs. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Motorhome.

We tried traveling to Rocky Springs in one night, to no avail..we stopped at Jeff Busby for a night. Since it is free, we can't complain too much... the bathrooms are very clean, complete with running water. The sites are very open... no privacy, but most campers are respectful enough that it is not a big deal... there was no campground host when we showed up, so we just set up our tent for the night then moved on. NO firewood for sale anywhere, we will know better for our next trip! We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Tent.

This is a free park with no hookups. The sites are fairly large and level. Some sites are double sites, which can be nice when camping with friends. The park is very quiet at night and you can enjoy the sites along the Trace, which is nice. The view from the day use area at the top of the hill is quite nice! Lots of wildlife. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great park for overnight on the Natchez Trace. No amenities of any kind other than drinking water and restrooms. We actually stayed in the picnic area as the campground was already full when we arrived around 4pm. Check with the store at the entrance to campground for permission to use picnic area. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Sometimes you just can't beat free, especially if it is just off as beautiful a road as The Trace. Great for a one nighter and, did I mention, it is FREE! We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Pretty wooded, typically peaceful setting (marred one day and night by a DP who ignored many empty sites, pulled in right behind us and ran their noisy generator for hours on end including starting it up at 5:30 in the morning). Bathrooms clean enough but simple, no showers or hook-ups. The sites are curved pull-thrus laid out rather strangely and some are not very level but those are small things especially for a free campground. Nice little trail to the high point overlook area. This is a wonderful place to stay while exploring the Natchez Trace Parkway. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Motorhome.

No hook-ups, no showers and most sites were not very level but a wonderful campging experience anyway and the price is certainly right. One of the three campgrounds conveniently located right on the Natchez Trace Parkway. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a drive that no one should miss and staying in the campground really lets you immerse yourself in the history of the time and the area. We loved it. We camped at Jeff Busby Campground in a Motorhome.
