This gentleman was the gracious host and owner of the stables/camping area near the Longleaf Trace. Just 5 back-in sites near the barn and next to a pasture with goats and horses. We were the only ones here. It would have been a tight fit for our small 5th wheel if there were other RV's present. I can't say that it's "big rig friendly," but from my understanding, the sites aren't used very much.

It was great for us because we were here to ride bikes on the Longleaf Trace, which is only a couple of blocks away. Very beautiful and quiet here. You'll most likely have the place to yourself - nice! We camped at Four -K- Stables in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Perfect launching point when doing the Longleaf Trace. We rode both north and south from the campground and saw a lot of the Trace. It was also fun feeding the goats and horses at the stables. There's a couple of cool, old buggies in the barn that were fun to check out.

We returned to this campground so we could ride our trikes on the Longleaf Trace. Not much has changed since our last visit, except that the pleasant and helpful owner and his son are now raising goats, so campers can expect to see plenty of goats, horses, miniature horses, and a braying donkey. Unless one is animal-phobic, they are a lot of fun; bring old bread for treats. The beagles have moved down the road. The sites are tight and a couple of them were damp after the recent rains. We have not seen another camper when we were there, and odds are you would be the only one when visiting. FHU included in rate shown. Some of the cable TV wires have pulled out of their jacks, so there was no cable but OTA reception was good. Good cell and data coverage. Any time we're in the area and want to ride the trace, we'll stay here. We camped at Four -K- Stables in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The main attraction for visitors is likely to be the Longleaf Trace, an excellent rail-trail from Hattiesburg to Prentiss. Bassfield is a good place to split the trail, 11 miles to one end and 30 miles to the other end, making 22 mile and 60 mile round trips. Highly recommended.

A small private campground providing stable services for equestrian activities and bicycling along the 46 mile long Longleaf Trace Rail Trail. Owner is quite friendly and knowledgeable about the area and Longleaf Trace. Campground consists of five sites dedicated to RVing, and four sites for tents. Each of the five RV sites is FHU. Utilities worked fine. RV sites are grassy and tent sites are gravel. We had to use one set of levelers on the utility side of the camper. Access is snug in sites 3-5 due to small back-in turning radii. I believe a large trailer, fifth wheeler, and motor home could maneuver only into site 1 or site 2. Owner said he rarely gets more than three RVs at a time. Quiet. About two blocks off of MS 52. There are some friendly horses there, but if you are a kid and not bicycling with parents on the Trace, there is really nothing to do. There was a healthy population of non-biting black ants. A scout had found its way in by the next afternoon. Check-out time was whenever, in other words, enjoy life. Cash only. CSpire phone service was 5 bars and 3G. DTV had all five networks and independents, excellent over the air signals. CATV connect was on the water post, but it had no signal. No Wi-Fi, so we used our phones. For bicycling, the Longleaf Trace is one of the nicest trails in the South. We rode from Bassfield to Prentiss and back in July! Lots of water stops on the Trace. We would definitely return to this campground to serve as a base camp for riding the remainder of the Trace. We camped at Four -K- Stables in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for two nights so I could ride my bicycle on the Longleaf Trace, a 41 mile, paved, world class bike trail. The owner is on the board of the trace and was very friendly and helpful. There are 5 back-in sites on a horse farm with full hookups including cable. Electric service is 20, 30, and 50 amp. There are 4 other sites with water and 20 amp electric, plus tent sites on the property. There are horses nearby plus a bunch of beagles that, when set off, raise an amazing cacophony. The rate for full hookups was $22.50 per night. Narrow streets might dissuade large rigs from staying here. Bassfield is a tiny community with one restaurant and one fast food place. We found the location particularly good for the trace and would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Four -K- Stables in a Motorhome.

We camped here in our 31 ft Class C because I wanted to ride my bicycle on the Longleaf Trace, a 40 mile paved trail from Hattiesburg to Prentiss, MS. The owner of Four -K- Stables was extremely helpful and friendly. We camped through a cold spell and he winterized our water hose, at his expense. His main business is the stable, having 5 horses of his own, and it was fun being around the horses. The facility owner is on the Board of Directors of the Longleaf Trace and is very supportive of all users. There is an equestrian trail adjacent to the paved trail that is wide enough for buggies and wagons. Bassfield is a 58 mile round trip to and from Hattiesburg on the trail. We camped at Four -K- Stables in a Motorhome.
